Apple Boy 3: The Emergence of the Omni-Metals

Apple Boy 3: The Emergence of the Omni-Metals
The third story in the Apple Boy series, written by Patrick Sullivan.

Our story continues in the bustling Fruitbowl City, with our hero, Apple Boy. He's captured the Submarine Man no more than a week ago, and he's full of adrenaline! But, after fighting two supervillains in less than two weeks, that adrenaline likely wouldn't stay for very long. So, he returned to Applewood with the intention to rest up for the inevitable next supervillain, but when he got to where his house should have been, there were only the charred remains of it.
Downtrodden, he took whatever he could find out of his house, and went back to Fruitbowl City. He was homeless. The only thing he could think to do was simply build a temporary house somewhere. So, he went down into the sewers to crash at the Submarine Man's abandoned lair until he could buy a place. It was there that he'd seen something on a monitor that the Submarine Man left on. The Submarine Man was trying to create a new state of matter…something called an Omni-Metal. So, Apple Boy started looking around the Submarine Man's lair, looking for anything that looked sufficiently "Omni" enough to be this fabled Omni-Metal. He unfortunately was having no luck finding them, until he started looking within a book. It's like that show from the 90s said, "Take a look, it's in a book,"
Anyways, Apple Boy did some reading up on ways to create new states of matter, and he found a lead in the book, "Creating States of Matter for Nimrods," "My god…a fifth state of matter…Baldovis is a madman!!" Apple Boy exclaimed. Just then, Apple Boy heard glass breaking behind him, and when he whirled around to see a giant broken test tube with blue, green, and red metallic liquid pouring out of it. The liquid formed in a puddle infront of Apple Boy, and eventually, it took a form similar to his own. Apple Boy lifted his arm, as did the metallic copy. Everything Apple Boy did, so did his metallic double. But when Apple Boy spoke, the metallic blob in his image only made electronic screeches. Apple Boy covered his ears when he heard said electronic screeches. The metallic clone blob thing suddenly began to change in odd ways: the "glasses" it once wore melted away, leaving only two circles for "eyes". The apple emblem on the blob's suit changed to be a circular light. Similar lights appeared on the palms of the blob's hands and on the bottom of the blob's…shoes? Sure, we'll call those shoes. Then, most shockingly of all to Apple Boy, the blob spoke. In actual words, too, no electronic screeches.
"GREETINGS, APPLE BOY. I AM WHAT DR. BALDOVIS CALLS AN OMNI-METAL. I PREFER THE NAME 'ANDROMEDA', HOWEVER," said the robotic blob now going by Andromeda. "Andromeda, eh? Well, apparently the Submarine Man already told you my name. So…why did he make you?" Apple Boy asked. "TO ELIMINATE YOU," Andromeda said. "Makes sense, I did throw him in prison," Apple Boy noted, as he sped away quickly, dodging a laser fired from one of Andromeda's palms. The laser went right through another giant test tube, which then began oozing another Omni-Metal, this one more beige than Andromeda's Blue. The beige Omni-Metal gathered into many different puddles, which then formed into small rocks and boulders. These rocks and boulders then joined together to form a humanoid structure. "EVENING, YA BLOKE. THE NAME'S BRUTE," said the second Omni-Metal. "Brute? Why do they call you that?" asked Apple Boy, somewhat out of breath from dodging Andromeda's laser. "PLAIN AND SIMPLE, FRUIT GUY. IT'S BECAUSE I DO THIS!"
Brute then took one of the rocks that his body seemed to be made up of, and threw it at Apple Boy, who once again, dodged it expertly. Unfortunately, the rock smashed into a third giant test tube, releasing yet another Omni-Metal, this one looking like a giant puddle of liquid Mercury. It quickly made it's way under Apple Boy's feet. Apple Boy jumped out of the puddle in surprise, and the Omni-Metal quickly formed. “BRRR! IT SURE IS CHILLY IN HERE! OH WAIT…THAT’S JUST ME, FROSTBITE!” said the excitable Omni-Metal. “Frostbite? Huh…since you’re so fast, and you’re silver…why isn’t your name Quicksilver?” Apple Boy questioned. “WHAT, YOU THINK THAT WE DECIDE OUR NAMES?” Frostbite said, shooting an Ice Blast towards Apple Boy, who yet again, dodged it expertly.
But…this time, the Ice Blast didn’t break another giant test tube, this time only freezing it. "Ok, I think I've heard enough monotone voices for one day. All of you…GET OUT!" yelled Apple Boy. "NEGATIVE. THIS IS OUR HOME, APPLE BOY," said Andromeda. “Highly debatable, at least, it will be in a few minutes,” said Apple Boy snarkily. Andromeda, Brute, and Frostbite all return to their puddle forms, and then…they all go to one specific point…where they begin to fuse into a giant multicolored puddle. “WE…ARE…ABSOLUTION!!” yells the giant blob of Omni-Metals. “Oh, I see. Yeah, no I’m good. I’ll leave, thanks,” Apple Boy says.
So, Apple Boy takes his stuff and leaves, and he assumes that Absolution unfuses into their three component Omni-Metals. They didn’t though, and in blob form, Absolution goes off to break the Submarine Man out of prison. What they find instead is that the Submarine Man is in the highest security prison in all of Fruitbowl City: the Citadel. Luckily for them, the highest security prison in all of Fruitbowl City happens to be the lowest security prison in the United States alone. Absolution reforms into their humanoid form and make their way over to the Citadel, where they lift the roof off of the building, grab the Submarine Man, place the roof back, and make their way back to the Sewer Lair.
Back to Apple Boy, however, he’s looking for an empty house he could live in temporarily. What he finds instead, is an empty building lot, right in the middle of Fruitbowl City. He dials the number on the For Sale sign and buys the empty lot. Apple Boy has to now leave his belongings in a storage locker while he makes a trip to the local hardware store. He used to be a construction worker, after all. Building a house, or in this case, a giant skyscraper, would be a piece of cake, especially with his superpowers! But…he'd still need to put together a construction crew to help him out if things got hairy…so that's exactly what he's going to do!
