Based on a certain video game.
To do:?
-make a Cyberspace level
-a falling minigame
-insert music?
I have some mixed feelings about this level. It seems like you tried to break out of typical Mario level conventions, both for better and for worse.
I like the idea of making a non-linear sandbox level to explore, but it's tricky to pull off in SMW - it's harder to explore a big level in a 2D game with a small screen and no map. Also, the goal of the level wasn't super clear at first... maybe putting a message box at the beginning would be a good idea, asking the player to collect the Yoshi Coins.
Unfortunately, the gimmick doesn't really work. The grey "glitch" cave that restarts the level causes all the Yoshi Coins to respawn, meaning it's possible to win by collecting the same one 5 times:
I didn't understand the "bushes," or whatever the green rectangles were. You made them act like quicksand blocks, but they're not used in places specifically to hamper Mario's movement or drag him down. They feel more like decorations that exist to annoy the player when they can't jump out of them.
Also, immediately starting your submission by antagonizing one of the contest's rules is pretty bad form, dude.
The time limit rule is pretty reasonable (600 SMW seconds is just under 7 minutes).
If your level idea requires more than 7 minutes to play through, it's probably not a great match for the fast-paced platforming gameplay that SMW is built around.
