Pipe Craze - A SMB1/TLL inspired level







Basically, this level is inspired by The Lost Players which in turn is inspired by The Lost Levels (actually Gaiden but that one also is TLL-like). It will be on the easier side so expect a difficulty closer to (late-game) SMB1. Correction, I made the level harder past the midway point so expect TLL difficuly.

As implied by the name, the main focus here are pipes which also implies Piranha Plants and as a result these will be the most common enemies, though it also makes use of various platform sprites. Contrary to (most of my) previous contest levels, I also will include some optional bonus rooms to give this level some more pathing variations.

All the pipes are colour coded and their uses are consistent through this level.

They also show some improvements with the background such as how it goes up to the two topmost rows instead of three and I also removed the layer 3 background since it looks dumb how the status bar goes behind the foreground when I can just go and do it with just the layer 2 tilemap.

For that matter, the first midway point is located past the last screenshot, though I also have rearranged the sections a bit. In particular, the looping platforms will be the first obstacles past the midway point when they used to be this before the midway point.
The current screenshots are in chronological order, though.

As an aside, the last screenshot may be my favourite obstacle I ever created (the platforms move down, btw.).
