Miss those old times, around 2003-2006, but i didn't find anyone from the old boards yet, especially from the SMW hacking forum. If someone here is from that board from those time, please let us know. Cheers!
Pretty much everyone, inclucing SMWC's founders, seems to have moved on. (I just barely wasn't around back then, I found SMWC in 2007 and was active on Acmlm's board 2 in 2008 for a couple weeks.)

The only ones that come to mind are S.N.N. (So Not Normal) and FPzero (FirePhoenix0), who I think are still around on Discord sometimes but no longer do hacking.

ah, so you are the author of the SMW+ series of SMW hacks, right? I've played from the first to the fourth ones, if that's the case.

If so, I was working on Mario Legends: The Spectral Room until 2006, but then stopped it due to work, studying, and mainly focused on music as hobbies.

I was at Acmlm Board but I didn't actually make anything SMW related all the way back then. Hell if I could remember anything I did there really, of everything I was doing online at the time I considered it relatively unimportant.

I was on Acmlm's Board regularly way back as a young teenager, but I never had an account or anything. I would usually lurk on forums as a guest and keep up with things without ever joining or posting, for multiple reasons, mostly social. Of course, I'm barely on this site either.

That said, Aioria definitely rings a bell for me.

After lurking for a few years on Acmlm's Board, I joined it in 2004 during its second incarnation* as BigMattrizzle, though the "Big" part was dropped soon after. Initially, many of my posts consisted of Super Mario World ROM address discoveries, several of which are now in the ROM Map here. I have little to do with SMW hacking nowadays.

*Not to be confused with Acmlm's Board 2, which was named as such because it used v2.0 of the AcmlmBoard forum software.

EDIT: The community unfortunately became very fragmented due to various disagreements and drama among staff members over the years, but here are some other remaining offshoots of Acmlm's Board:

In addition to the archive of Incarnation 2 linked above, an archived copy of the old Acmlm's ROM Hack Domain website (acmlm.overclocked.org) exists at http://overclocked.acmlm.org, and an archive of Incarnation 3 of Acmlm's Board exists here.

I was an infant when acmlm was a thing, but it's the forum board that hosted the Mario community before this one was created. It (or some of it, I'm not entirely sure) is archived here. e: the correct link to the archives now

That's just some of it, and a rather small chunk of it at that. There's only around a year and a half of posts archived there (2004-2005). Keep in mind that the SMW sub-forum on Acmlm's was created just a little while after LM was released back in 2000, as the regular ROM hacking forum there quickly started getting flooded with SMW posts once LM was released.
I was also around on Acmlm's 2 right before the Jul/Board2 split, as Tyty back then. I joined SMWC shortly after that. Checking, my regdate on board2 is in 2007.

Apparently someone on board2 went back and banned me at some point. Last time I checked a couple years ago I wasn't greynamed lol. Kinda surprising considering it seems like it's mostly just been dead for a while.
I was Acmlm's Board joined from 2002 for 20 years ago.

have search found SMWC joined from 2008, my finished SMW hack "Luigi Legends 2" where on.

hello, I found this thread because I followed a link to SMWcentral and noticed it looks like it's still using acmlm's forum software, or styled to look and work like it if not. Html post layouts and all.
so I googled to see what the connection was and got here.

I used to be Zem on there, to my shame. anyway, what's with the forum software? how come it doesn't say acmlm at the bottom or on the legal info, huh??

edit: went to the SECOND google result and found this thread, which answers my question.
