Hello to all and once again i have stuff to show about my current hack, New Super Mario World 1: The 12 Magic Orbs Powered-Up which is a remaster of New Super Mario World 1: The 12 Magic Orbs featuring many improvements, new levels, new content and more replay value.

This time, rather than posting a demo i'll post a trailer video, as this hack is nearly done with only 3 levels remaining as well the missing bosses and a lot of beta testing. Enjoy

https://youtu.be/rGD3N-xGR4w

And additionally here are some screenshots comparing how the first levels in each world looked in the original and how they look in the remaster:

And that's all i have to show today, if you want to help me to finish this hack and polish it up then check this thread to play the more recent testing demo and join my newly made discord server if you prefer to talk about the hack more directly with me.

More screenshots that were posted later:

I played the original version of this hack and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to picking up the new and improved version! I dig the changes you made to the levels in the screenshots. They do look much better and more polished I must say.

It's simply sensational.
In fact, there were many improvements in this Remaster version compared to the original, and even with the famous Star Coins.

Fabulous! #smrpg{y}
Nice graphic comparison, But i will look forward to playing this

This is shaping up to be a huge improvement from the original in every single way. Looking forward to its release!
Ahh this looking real nice. The original is one of the few hacks I've actually played a bit (sorry I'm not very good at finishing things!) but I'm looking forward to seeing this completed!
Its Realy Fun to See The Differences Between The Original and The Remaster and in Fact the Both Version Plays kind of Different with the Introccing of The New Powerups and how i Find an Even Greater Direction in Specific Item Challanges per Level makes it Realy an Fun Remake which is Defenitely Worth to Play it Again. I Realy Like how Colorfull the New Remaked Levels Look and the New Details Like The Background in The Space World on The Other Hand I Think In The Original The Snow Level Shows a bit more The entrance to an Realy Cold Forest but Thats just a Tiny Detail :D

THE HYPE IS REAL!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I played the original hack last year, and this seems like a HUGE improvement to the hack in everything (I still hate the world 11 fortress). I hope this gets finished next C3!

This hack is looking amazing, Pink Gold Peach! I've seen your progress on Discord for a while, and I'm very happy to see that I inspired you to make a level based on that Fire Emblem Heroes background + tileset.

If I ever get free time in the future, I'll probably help you playtest this hack before it gets released.
Unfortunately, I'm not very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now. Thanks for understanding.
I enjoyed playing through the original version of this hack , and after seeing the trailer, I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy the remastered hack once it's 100% complete and ready to play.

I'm also very surprised you got the custom powerups with Luigi. Being as I'm making a new hack of my own that will also have the custom powerups, I'm tempted to ask if you can share the Luigi GFX at some point, please? I was originally thinking of making my hack a Mario-only hack, but I might be able to come up with some new ideas (or even reuse some stuff from my old hack, which was two players only) here, if you're okay with sharing those Luigi GFX.

Anyway, awesome job Pink Gold Peach!
I was re-playing the original for achievement hunting on RA (I'm on World 10) and it's a little rougher than I remembered, with some level design problems like an overabundance of Chucks and Volcano Lotus, sometimes together with frustrating gimmicks.
But even with these issues the original hack is still great, and looking through the screenshots and the trailer it looks way better than before, good job!
My favorite stage in the original right now is Volcanic Fortress, my least favorite is Minecart Ride.

Ok, I have to comment on this.

I've played the original version of this hack and its sequel. And loved them both. I also have taken what a little free time I could, in these last months, to see your progress in revamping this hack. And, to be serious... you made it a lot better.

For starters, I must comment on how the act of changing the status bar greatly affected the way your levels are presented when you are playing: I don't actually dislike SMB3's status bar, sure, but in this case, the transition to the NSMBWii's one made your levels stand out more. And that is a great thing, because your level design is wickedly good (way better than it was, and it already was good before).

Second thing: It is impressive how you managed to completely change the overall level atmospheres with, sometimes, just a subtle color manipulation. Props to you, man. And I also noticed, for the great effect it brought on your work, how you enriched some BGs, but not by adding excessive detail. And this is a rather challenging thing to do, because there is a thin line separating a great result and a cluttered background.

Third thing: New powerups: I saw how you added new powerups to your hack, and how you have shown them to the maximum effect in the trailer. Well done. I hope you actually passed the challenge to not let them break any levels you made, since you have a literal powerup galore in your hack. That being said, that's another good point of switching the status bars, since you seem to have scrapped the item box; I remember your levels in this particular hack had a crapload of "?" powerup blocks, so you're set, I guess.

All in all... I will play the final version, on my honor. I happen to like this hack very much, and I can't wait to have a go at it. The trailer was so good that I'm not having in my heart, after watching it, to actually be nitpicky about the cutoff Blarrgs that it shows for some seconds (however, I'm confident you'll take this as a tip :D ). Congratulations, PGP, you are a seriously good SMW Hacker, and I can only see you improving.

Dream team (feed them, please):

I recognize the name showing up on Youtube when looking up SMW hacks. Never played it myself, but looks fun enough to get into and finish 👍 I'm sure those who liked the original won't hesitate to play this remake, and that in itself proves the hack successful.

Sure, i can send them once i get them working, as for now i only added separate graphics for the small, normal (as well as other power-ups that are recolors such as the fire and ice flowers) and tanooki forms as apparently the power-ups patch has a limit for how many power-up graphics i can add, i still have some space left for a few other power-up forms and i might take some shortcuts such as making the Hammer and Boomerang power-up share the same graphics, but in the end Luigi will end up looking like Mario for some power-ups

Good news, Minecart Ride is no longer in the hack, though there is a skull cart section at the end of the other mineshaft level but now i'm using a much better sprite so that the level is more fun

The blocks now fall more slowly, they no longer hurt you when they fall off the ground and you can now destroy them with the shell suit, so the level probably isn't as bad as it was before, and the section with the falling blocks is now much shorter as in the original hack i made it 32 screens long so that the music would be heard for longer.

When I was a newbie child, the level that most surprised me was the fortress level from the Beach World, because of the amazing music.
Woah, that new version looks awesome! I remember playing the old version

First, thanks for all the feedback. Second, the item box is still there but doesn't show on the status bar due to the status bar patch i'm using, though i found a way to re-add it by using this patch , but it still needs testing to see if there are any issues (miscoroled power-ups in certain levels, slowdown issues, incompatibilities and so on)

And funnily enough i was a newbie chil when i made the original version of the hack, i was only 13 years old (i'm 20 now).

This reminds me of a MaxwelHacks hack. Pretty good Vanilla Hack!
It appears to be an excellent hack, the old version was very good, but the level design I found unfair, and I've played some demos that even had world 7, 8, 9, around. And I realized that the levels are much fairer. Congratulations on the huge whim Pink. You have talent!

English topic.

I've played both New Super Mario World 1 and New Super Mario World 2, i liked both, I find both of them a quite fun experience, but yeah, the first one really had some issues. I've been following this remaster for quite some time and i can say that you did a great job with it, everything looks great and better than before.
