N'sane Studios DEMO Release - Winter 2023

After several experiences and adventures in the world of romhacking, I and Sammmoo teamed up to do something different, and then N'sane Studios was born.

It all started in 2021 with the simple idea of creating another generic Kaizo dedicated to a streamer, however as time went by the concept was refined, until the proposal has become completely different.

Ori and The Blind Forest became our major inspiration and was the main reason for this mind change. Today we are aiming to create more than just a generic Kaizo, but something unique. The name of this project however will remain a secret until the final release date.

This DEMO has 11 exits in order to show some of the levels already finished and tested, but our goal is a huge game with a very deep Lore. YES! this Kaizo will have a much bigger focus on the STORY, which by the way takes place in the same universe as the Ori games.

Keep in mind that since this is a DEMO the difficulty may differ quite abruptly. All feedback is welcome. Good game, and have fun!

I do wonder why people do keep on uploading kaizo hacks on C3. Just... okay, I'm just joking and especially because I don't have a hack to show... maybe. I did check the trailer and the screenshots. I'm not sure what the creature is suppose to be. Looks like some Pokemon or Digimon to me. I'm also not sure where did you get Akaginite's ExBanzai bill sprite from, especially since that sprite is not in the Sprites section of the site. Great to see it present. For the 'Platforming' part in the trailer, it should have had the word 'Kaizo' next to it. Oh well, it's not that bad of a loss. As most know, I'm no kaizo expert. I did play a kaizo hack, but it was on the easy site. It's also quite shocking that the kaizo hacks manage to raise the difficulty really high and also can go ludicrous mode in certain hacks. Yours does look good though.

The presentation of the intro is really impressive!

In the first level the spawn and timing of the first tower of red flying koopas then the 3 red koopas after it seemed a bit inconsistent to me.

The production value here is just top notch. Clearly you are very proud of your work and you should be! I'm not really a kaizo player but this should excite those that are! I admire that you went out of your way to make a legit trailer for your hack. That's pretty neat.

For now there's only a cutscene in the intro, but we're planning to put cutscenes between levels later on

Man, this looks really great. I managed to sneak in a little time to play the first level, and it was super fun and very accessible. Really looking forward to playing more of the demo, and seeing the final version. We're really getting spoiled with all these great kaizo demos this C3

This hack looks pretty interesting! I see some pretty creative gimmicks present in a few of these levels, and they seem to be pretty well designed!
I'm a little rusty with kaizo so i don't know if i'll give it a try lol, but this definitely looks fun!

This hack looks like it's going to be amazing!
Ori and the Blind Forest was undoubtedly one of the best games I've ever played, and knowing that this hack will be inspired by this game, makes me expect an amazing hack!

Wow, this looks interesting! The mechanics look very kaizo (that's about as perceptive as I am in that field haha), and the graphics all look nice. Not to mention, what I assume to be a cutscene image with Ori, which looks rather pretty, and the theming of the hack as a whole is very interesting. You also did a good job with assembling the trailer together. Nice work!

Feedback (partial): Show/Hide

YELLOW SWITCH PALACE: Show/Hide

-You should reduce the lightning intensity, it hurts my eyes a bit.

SWISS GHOST HOUSE: Show/Hide

-I was very unlucky, the sprite destructor blocks destroy the p-switch which since I was very close to it; It did hurt mario (Known glitch).

-Oops, the enter pipe is on the layer 2! Also I can easily go above and through the ground:

MIDNIGHT DESERT: Show/Hide

-I think the aesthetics clashes with the rest of the hack; I was expecting beautiful aesthetics, I got Mario Maker 2 style $#tb{O_O}$

GLACIAL OF ENTITIES: Show/Hide

-Unlike what the message box said, the throw block can hurt mario when destroyed other than shattering:

-I did not like this level at all, the level falls apart after the slow spinies ride; The piranha plant has spawn-dependant issues (sometimes too tight), the bullet bills right after feels very unfair, the football and ninji gates doesn't allow understanding it the 1st time which may make a forced death, and right after I stand safely on the mario-only blocks where no koopa rises, this breaks the ninji waves making it impossible to pass. Overall I feel this level doesn't respect my time; I used savetates by frustation to complete the level.

Did not continue after GLACIAL OF ENTITIES

General issue: Show/Hide

-When Mario enter a glass pipe and exit the level before exiting the pipe, his pipe state remains!

-I was a bit disappointed by the lack of ori graphics through the levels.
