As it's already been well-established, the host for this winter's Mario Party themed C3 is none other than MC Ballyhoo. I was given the opportunity to draw his avatar, which was fun! But then I had an idea.

I thought it would also be fun to not only show off the full art of him, but the development of said art too! It all took place on a big MS Paint canvas, so I decided to label the notable stuff from A to H. There are also blurbs for each label that give insight as to what's going on. Let's take a look!

--------------------

Here's the full drawing, I think it took me like four days to make?

And here's how the canvas looked before I cropped everything out! The blurbs are in the collapse tags below.

--------------------

And so, that's all I really have to say on how this art came to be. Going in-depth about it was pretty enthralling, since I never usually talk about these sorts of things. Hopefully some of it is found to be useful? Either way, have a happy C3!
Big Top looks especially good I will say.

Overall you did a fantastic job. You should be proud of it. #lm{extgfx}

Well, great job for ripping the MC Ballyhoo's drawings #smrpg{y}
You do deserve credit. The art is especially well done.

can i just say thank you for doing this e-man! with the mysterious brief of "draw mc ballyhoo" and no insight into what c3 actually was lol. ballyhoo looks great!

fun fact: this was sorted literally in the last few days, because i thought chuck quizmo was the same thing as mc ballyhoo he was going to be the host so a new avatar wasn't required, then i was told they're not so... yeah. thankfully, eman saved the day!
This are is great, i really love it. i lovee how you drew the little hat guy
He's a mysterious little guy I love him.

You are challenged by Champion Daisy!

LAYOUT FOOTER:
I think you did a good job drawing him. I can kinda see your thought process a little bit in the reference image you posted.

you shouldve given him a gun
And then we'll never see Ballyhoo again after Mario Party 8 lol

That aside, these are well drawn sketches overall 👍
I love this art it's beautiful, you are a master! #smrpg{<3}

Seeing the process is pretty cool, nice work!

Thank you for drawing our wonderful Master of Ceremonies (MC). Or Catastrophes I suppose. He is a very fun character done justice by your wonderful art.

Great job! #smw{:TUP:}
ask me if i give a f*ck...
I'm glad that people are enjoying the art and its process, thanks for the kind words!

Thank you too! The lack of context actually helped me shape a more general pose for MC Ballyhoo, I had a feeling he was still going to be his extravagant self.

That's honestly understandable, both characters do look rather similar to each other. Even the Super Mario Wiki addresses it.

Nobody told me to. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He lives on in our hearts... and through C3, obviously!
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?

It should've stopped at step H with little Ballyhoo

In all seriousness, this is pretty neat to see! I know people can tend to have very different ways of going about porting/covering something from one medium to another, so to see some of the strategies you're using here in motion is very neat. Perhaps this could even help other people with their own art creation in terms of understanding how to decompose a reference into it's core components and reconstruct them. Overall, neat thread!
embed fail!!

E-man, what other characters from SMW Central do you want to draw as well?

Maybe, the Tahixham's goose? #smw{._.}
It's nice to have the process "canvas" of drawing Ballyhoo. Having references and copies of your drawing is definitely one of the advantages of digital art. Ballyhoo H might be my favorite.
You did a lovely job with the avatar!

It's really cool to have some insight into the E-man Art Process™. I knew you drew him in Paint given that it's your tool of choice, but seeing exactly how you go about separately drawing and then combining bits and pieces of the drawing is really impressive, and the patience you have, commendable! I think most people have jumped ship to Aseprite. Using the transparent selection tool is certainly clever!

Oh, he's here now. Hi.

I see, so our esteemed [[GAME SHOW HOST]] is here, eh? Well you know what they say: In a [[1for1]] Battle, [[NEO]] never loses.
