Congrats to the top 3 as well as all of the other participants! This was an extremely fun challenge! #smrpg{<3}
I didn't expect the competition to be this high quality but, after all, we do have a lot of very talented people in the community.
This was the first time I composed something with only a single sample (and noise percussion), and I have to say, compered to my other compositions it's pretty subpar. I will try doing another one with the same premise in the future and that will (hopefully) sound much better. =P
Now, to address some stuff:

The answer is no, that person is Dunehawk. also, cruel. =(

Not to sound rude or anything, but could you say what those interesting ways are/could be?
Because, In all honesty, I'm very interested in what you mean and it could very well improve my compositions in the future.

My only complaint here is the sudden stop at 1:00, where the song suddenly stops and then obviously
goes into a different key without connection or interaction with each other (crossfades happen in various ways).
I will say, it originally wasn't this way, but I thought that relieving all of the tension by just... stopping everything was an interesting thing to do that I haven't done before, it sounded kinda funny and cool to me, especially with the bass part. Fair complaint though. =P
Congrats to the winners! There were some amazing entries here.

I mainly joined for fun but also as a learning experience. I appreciate the constructive feedback. Hopefully it will make me do better things in the future.

Even though my entry was very simplistic it was perhaps a bit too ambitious for me given the time frame. It didn't help that the midi file I found was pretty bad and it was the first time for me using the noise channel.
Okay, some (actually, all but one — beben, your style of composition is far too obvious) of my guesses were wrong, though I did consider to put KFF for 120hoSPC10INeverSawItsBeauty as my guess. But in any case, it's still interesting how you all managed to sound a single sample so differently to avoid a solo composition (aside from Soul Sanctum and someones_song which are actual solos), even non-simple waves like SMW's @0 used in Synthesis (closest example is Moonside Swing from Earthbound but this is just a short piece which doesn't really use the sample that much in many variations).

Congrats to everyone who won and didn't win, I wanted to participate but I was just too lazy.

I also wanted to vote but I was also too lazy to even do that.

Keep your spirits high, and your noodle sweaty!

Really awesome stuff folks. I'm humbled by how well my entry was received compared to my expectations, but overall I'm just really glad to have had this contest and be able to see all the creative things people showed up with. Congrats to Jeroen Tel for winning 1st and 3rd place with his ports of  Teows  Fyre150 music (er, wait, that's not quite right...) But actually though, congrats to Teows for his second 120hoSPC gold, and Fyre for the back-to-back podium appearance. Massive shoutouts on my end to  Segment1Zone2 for sending me the NES soundtrack to Jesus over a year ago telling me how bad it was, I wouldn't've been able to spin one of it's songs into a fun little jazzy tune like this without that interaction. Also shoutouts to everyone who impulsively thought Soul Sanctum was done by Maxodex. (As for my own guesses, I immediately knew which entries belonged to Segment and Bebn, and I was able to deduce Ahrion's based on him porting a radix song in the past. Other than that though, I suspected KungFuFurby of being the author of his entry, but wasn't certain, nor did I really know who made the rest.) Lastly huge massive major shoutouts to  Hazel for being willing to host this awesome contest, I know I had a blast and I hope everyone else did as well. Hopefully we'll be able to do more stuff like this in the future.

Yeah, sorry I got a little bit heated there, honestly that entry just pissed me off to no end, and frankly considering how similar this one was to that one, I just did not have the patience for it this time lmao

Yeah, sure

Honestly, I was more so thinking of things like using odd time signatures, uneven/weird rhythms, and even things like dissonance when saying that, and honestly I still stand by the fact that those are much more interesting ways to achieve a more chaotic sound, but most importantly, by doing that you also need to consider having something underneath that holds everything together, where it sounds chaotic, but not to the point where it becomes completely unlistenable, and that's where a simpler, easier to follow melody would really help out here IMO

We really live in an age where people get pissed off over music from an SNES competition where people only had 5 days to create something.

Well, for one, I wasn't really specifically talking about Segment's entry here, and honestly? I wouldn't really say that I'm, like, actually pissed off about either entry to begin with, because obviously if I was that angry I wouldn't really be talking this casually about it LMAO

But yeah, I will admit that I probably didn't convey that the best way, and that again, I did act a bit more heated than usual, but honestly, if there's anything that I don't really like doing is sugarcoating my thoughts to make myself appear nicer, especially when constructive criticism is involved, and in the end I only do this to help out others improve, even if it might not seem like that at first; basically, that's just how I tend to act with this kinda stuff really, and in general I'd definitely advise to not take everything I say too much to heart to begin with #wario{:)}
