What's up?
This hack has been a long time coming. The game is now "complete" until playtesters rip it to shreds lol
Now, I present to you: Super Mario Starlight! Below is a short description of the game, as well as an embedded Youtube video showing off the game's features in a Nintendo Direct-styled presentation. Please keep in mind that some footage from this video is outdated. For some reason, I've always had trouble getting screenshots to show on these forums, so hopefully the video will suffice.

This hack is an expansion of a location introduced in my previous hack, Super Mario Universe. You will NOT have had to play that game to play this one, however. These two projects are entirely different.
This project aims to try a structure that (as far as I'm aware) hasn't been tried before in SMW. The game has a hub world that lets you explore and find levels freely, but the stages themselves are linear, like a traditional Mario game. Think Peach's Castle from 64 with about 20ish linear stages instead of open world stages. Yoshi Coins act as the main collectable. The more you collect, the more levels and areas of the hub world you will be able to access.
While exploring the hub, you might run into more than just standard levels, however. You could find more Yoshi Coins in hidden areas, small lore drops, or even cafes, where you can stop for a quick power-up.
Speaking of lore, the game has an entirely original plot, that, while not ground-breaking, should engage the player a bit more than a traditional Mario story.
On top of that, sound design and composition has become a recent passion of mine, and I am excited to announce that this project will boast an entirely original soundtrack, scored by me!
I am in need of playtesters. If you're interested, please join the SMS discord server and let me know:
