The Path from Prisminia - Brand new demo, plus screenshots + trailer!

Super Mario WorldStandardWork in ProgressDemoScreenshotsTrailer

"Her project is ALIVE!", I hear you whisper...

The Path from Prisminia, or TPFP for short, is my latest project, and the next journey that Moonlight must undertake.
TPFP is a hack with an original story - no Mario, King Boo, Bowser, Peach, Nintendo references in general, etc etc.*

In The Path from Prisminia, Moonlight's travels bring her to Prisminia, an island nation with three other countries surrounding it. With nothing but good intentions, she approaches Omelas, the leader of Prisminia, seeking her out to see if she can be of any assistance to the island. Moonlight is set on a journey to assist Omelas by doing good-natured deeds and help the nation continue to prosper...........right?

I'm releasing a new demo today, which includes Chapters 1 and 2 of the game! There are 15 exits in the demo, and you'll know when you reach the end of it. For more nitty-gritty details, like the changelog from past demos, and a couple random gameplay tips, check out the included readme!

And, if you're more of a video person, I put together a short release trailer for the demo, which you can watch below!

That's most of the ground I wanted to cover for this initial post. For the rest, play the demo, and share your thoughts! Download link is at the bottom!

Please enjoy, and I hope everyone has a fun winter C3!

Download!

* Aside from much of the NPC and enemy graphics - though in-universe they are all either humans, or unique species, I don't quite have the talent to draw sprites for them. So, the default graphics remain for them - this may or may not change in the future.
Cool to see this still coming along nicely, I'll be sure to check out the demo soon 👀

I hope the rest of development goes well c:
Cool hack, Sayuri. I played through the prologue and into chapter 1. Really enjoyed the setting you created. #smrpg{y}

Hey there, Sayuri. I thought I should check your hack. Your screens show a lot of promise with that hack of yours. I especially like that character of yours. It reminds me of Zero Suit Samus with a happy tone. Nice!

Once again, I'm still glad people aren't abandoning their cool total and partial conversion hacks of SMW. Keep at it!
Kinda in hibernation for a while. I hope to be back in full swing soon.
Based on the synopsis and the trailer, this seems to be a quite interesting and exotic hack with lots of world interaction (*) and dialogue, and overall a significant departure from SMW in structure and tone. Also, from that "right?" at the end of the synopsis, it seems the story might have a twist or two in store, which are always fun and actually rare to have in SMW hacks (also I'm personally a fan of more story-oriented hacks). The architectures of the levels also look really unconventional, and I mean that in the best of ways, haha.

(*) One thing I'd like to suggest though, is to consider making the exclamation marks stand out a bit more. Some ExAnimation could probably help with that!

Cool stuff and gonna keep an eye on this project!

Not a bad idea. The intractable exclamation marks are actually just sprites, but I can do them with blocks as well and I'd been fiddling with the best way to present them. ExAnimation didn't occur to me though, actually, so I should give that a go! Thanks, Lumy.

Thank you to Eevee and everyone else so far as well! Working on this project has been kind of a roller coaster, but it's fun and I'm hoping I can get enough feedback to improve what's here now and to have things in mind while I create the rest of the game.
This looks nice! I have it downloaded and will try it later. How hard is the hack supposed to be?

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.

Thanks!! Hmm, difficulty wise, I'd put in a middle ground between Normal and Hard, but closer to Normal overall with a couple of exceptions that aren't enough to push the whole thing to "hard".
This hack looks super cute! The main character gives me quite some "kawaii Samus" vibes, haha! Definitely gonna gives this one a try!
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I think that I'll submit this new demo to the hack section after C3, unless someone brings some huge glitch or error or other urgent feedback to my attention. In general, I'm thinking there's a limit to how many demos I want to release, and eventually the demos will stop and then the full game will be what's released after, whenever that ends up being. I'm looking forward to continuing to work on TPFP and seeing people's thoughts!
