Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Fortress... I'm amazed you actually took my idea here. I guess yours uses 16 tiles total. I suppose I'll publish my version tomorrow, which will use 8 tiles total.
Still, the other conversion look great and besides that, yours are up to 1024x1024. My conversions don't come close to that.
I'm also glad there's another layer 3 converter besides me.
Hey, amazing job with all of these! They look nearly flawless for 2bpp conversions. I was actually thinking of converting the SMB3 desert BG, but thought I'd live w/o it. Btw, how did you properly render the 1024x1024 BGs in LM? Is there some option for that that I'm not aware of?

Cool stuff! I'm very tempted to use at least one of those layer 3 BGs alongside this ASM code I downloaded years ago that reveals hidden passageways like in NSMBWii when the player gets close enough to them (I have to remind myself to check it again sometime, just in case it needs to be tweaked to work), so it's real nice to see some more options to use with that code I've got.
2bpp graphics seem to be popular lately. Those are very well done, and I could see them being useful even outside of Mode 0 levels for backgrounds where the foreground is on Layer 2.

Agree with the others: It is impressive how small the colour loss is alongside the occasionally natural dithering (the SMB3 fortress background in particular).

Actually, if you look in the graphics section, all of the SMW BGs have already been converted years ago, with the bulk of the work being done by Hayashi!
