About This Forum

This forum is where you, the humble user, can host your own Super Mario World hacking contests in our community! Whether it involves level design, graphics, music, or ASM coding, any type of hacking contest is welcome!

Forum Rules

1. All contests, entries, and posts in this subforum must follow the SMW Central Site-Wide Rules.

1a. If your contest links to a Discord server, that server must also follow the SMW Central Discord rules.
Reported misbehavior in a user contest Discord will lead to site punishment.

2. This forum is for fully prepared contests only.

Please only make a thread if you have a contest that is ready for participation. If you would like to discuss contest ideas or planning events, please make your thread in the Events Discussion & Feedback subforum.

3. All contests must be related to SMW hacking.

This means no music tourneys, general art/music contests, guessing contests, quizzes, or anything that would fit better in Forum Games. We are not permitting ROM hacking contests for other games or contests using level editors (i.e. Super Mario Maker) at this time.

4. Ensure results are posted no more than two months after the submission deadline.

This is to ensure that contests are completed in a timely fashion and entrants aren't waiting forever for results. Any inactive contest threads will be closed, and hosting privileges may be revoked if this is a repeated issue.

4a. We may allow extensions to judging periods due to unforeseen circumstances.
In these instances, make sure to let one of the moderators of this forum (listed under the "Moderated by:" section on the Forum Index) know beforehand.

5. You are required to make your own resources / do your own promotion for your contest.

Please do not ask staff to make you trophies or a banner for your contest, or to post your contest in the site calendar or announcements channel.

5a. You are not required to have judges for your contest, but if you want to, you also have to find judges on your own.

6. If you are new to hosting contests, please read the Hosting Guidelines thread before starting a contest.

Even if you have hosted a contest before, it's worth reading anyway to understand what we expect of contest hosts on our site.

Thread Tags

Like our Current Contests & Events subforum, there are several forum tags you must use to define what type of contest you are hosting. You should tag your thread appropriately to help users filter threads relevant to their interests. The following tags are available to you in this forum:

Should you have a question about this forum, please feel free to PM one of the moderators of this forum (listed under the "Moderated by:" section on the Forum Index). If you have questions regarding specific contests, please contact the contest host instead.
