Respawning help

Hello! Hope all is well, I am new here. I am using the flux base rom 2 and have a question about how Mario respawns. About halfway through my level I have an exit set to go to another part of the same level. I have succeeded in doing this by making the exit take me to the "midway point" of the level. However, when Mario dies, it takes him back to the midway spawn point instead of the beginning of level spawnpoint. I have also tried to set the Exit as a secondary exit which also worked, but I got the same result. Is it possible to have Mario ALWAYS respawn at the beginning of the level instead of just where he "enters" the level? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!


By default, the "midway entrance" SMW uses is the midway of the level you entered in from the overworld to. Lunar Magic does have a setting to override this, though, in the #lm{1door} menu. Start by checking the Use separate settings for Midway Entrance checkbox in the top right of there, then check the Redirect Midway Entrance to other level box to send it to your second level.

If that isn't the issue you're describing, some more details might help. Like are you using the custom retry system? If so, what have you looked at the respawn settings for that?

Yes so I do want it to send Mario to the midway entrance in the same level, however I would like him to still spawn at the beginning of the level after a death. I am using custom retry through the flux base 2 rom, but I am not sure how to look at the settings for that.
