Hello there! Some of you probably saw or even played the WIP project I shared last C3 called SPOT (or Standard Platforming, Obviously Traditional). For those who didn't know about this hack, this is basically a low-key project mainly focusing about traditional platforming where I put altogether various scrapped levels I made in the last years and new silly ideas that somehow fit in the spirit of 'platforming'.
Since the release of the demo back in February, things progressed pretty slowly: at the time I make this thread, 22 levels are completed for a total of 25 exits. That being said, here's some modest thingies I can show.
The first one is the structure of the game: like any traditional hack, SPOT will have around 7 worlds and a special world where the theming are more or less chosen: the first one being the usual grassland, the second being related to the ocean/sea/water... the classical thing.
The maingame will mostly be Standard: Hard while the lategame and the special world will be more Standard: Very Hard.
As I write this, I still don't know how the overworld will be built (a linear OW? an OW with branched paths? something else??) but time will probably tell.
The second thing is the inclusion of Dragon Coins and 3-UP Moo- *suddently hears people saying that hundreds of hacks already did that* That's obviously true, but I wasn't confident before to implement various patches messing with saving like SRAM Plus. That said, seeing Anorakun's suggestion (thank you if you read this!) motivated me to try implementing said patches, and it turned out it wasn't that difficult!
All the levels having (collected) Dragon Coins and Moons will be shown on the OW as you can see on the screenshot above. Now, what about collecting Dragon Coins (and eventually Moons) in every level? Will they unlock new levels? Will they play a peculiar role in the game? I've some ideas but I'll keep this secret for the time being. ;)
Finally, I couldn't make a C3 thread without a little something: a showoff of a couple of levels. :)
Thank you for passing by this thread (and possibly reading all of this), and please check out the other threads, they have a lot of cool things to show! Happy C3!! :)
