So, Blind, what else have you been doing besides music? Creating tracks in RaceLeague!

Hooray for another thread from me. This time I want to talk a bit about RaceLeague, a simcade racing game for PC whose main feature is user-made tracks for people to race in!

On July 26th, 2022, RaceLeague made it to early access, but about 1 or 2 months prior, the game dev - Jalkku - has accepted me as one of his playtesters. And ever since that moment, I immediately fell in love with its track builder. After all, building tracks has always been somewhat a passion of mine. I used to play games like Stunts and GeneRally to unleash my creativity, by the way. But RL was just on another level, mostly because it's a simcade and I love simcade racing as well, meaning the best of two worlds. A dream game.

And over the years, I've been playing RaceLeague quite often, designing tracks most of the time since I suck as a racer lol. However, one of the funniest things about track building is how I "pioneered" in many aspects by thinking outside the box and putting some really weird techniques to practice in order to achieve unique results. Compare it to, like, the early days of 1F0/slope assist tile behavior in SMW.

- Sir, we cannot place a prop over another!
Turns out we can. Put a bridge over the prop then the other prop over the bridge.

- Sir, this building is too big and it looks odd on steep terrain.
Lower JUST THE MIDDLE PORTION of the terrain where the prop will be placed and it'll look neat.

- Sir, those rocks will look awful against those cliffs! Plus you'll break performance to fill in those gaps!
Look at me as I place a rock prop on top of the cliff and scale it ALL THE WAY TO NEGATIVE so it's now reversed. And it looks awesome.

- Sir, ship props do not exist!
Shut up, I'll make my own. Bridges bridges bridges props props props merging merging etc etc huff puff it's done.

Okay. No one here appears to be familiar with RL but you get the idea. Anyways, enough of that. Let me just go on and show you a few screenies of the game, taken from some of my creations (collapsed because somewhat big pics):

I made so many more tracks (around 50 probably?) and joint effort projects too but I wanted to show you just a little for those curious about what I was doing with my life in my free time. I hope you find this interesting lol

Maybe if you ever give RL a try, we'll meet at the track :3
I indeed wasn't aware of RaceLeague, but regardless, these tracks all look really cool! I think any racing game with a track editor is immediately gonna be super cool. For example, I've never played Trackmania myself, but I've certainly observed some other people create all kinds of horrible abominations in it, and I love it! If this game gets even remotely as crazy as that, I'm sure it's a fun time.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
