LAW & ORDER: Mushroom Kingdom Unit - Pilot Episode "Director's Cut" Release

Welcome in, Detectives! I haven't posted here in a while, have I? For this C3, me and my friends ChaseNScooter, Daizo Dee Von, and Jamie wanted to do a polish-up of the "Pilot Episode" of our crossover series "Law & Order: Mushroom Kingdom Unit." Make no mistake, this version of the game is quite packed, and not to mention...a lot more fleshed out! Before I get into details, just in case you aren't familiar with this game, this originally was a QLDC2023 entry. The concept is largely based on the "Law & Order" series which is a TV show about Detectives in a nutshell. You go around doing Detective work by talking to people, exploring areas and gathering clues. We thought it would be cool to have an official release version; as well as incorporate our full vision of the game. (Anything we didn't have time for because of time crunches.) Anyway in this Director's Cut Release, there's tons of new content such as new areas to explore, bits of dialogue, several added details & more stuff I am purposely leaving out! (We don't want to spoil all the fun!)

Trailer!

On behalf of the entire team, we hope you enjoy all the effort that was put into the Director's Cut! This will more than likely be the final release of the Pilot Episode as we'd like to start putting our efforts into creating Episode 1. Without further ado, it's time for you to become the best Detective and solve the case! (Also be sure to watch the trailer! There are some special stuff you might miss by skipping it!)

I haven't played the original hack, but I gotta say creating a detective Mario hack is quite the unique idea, and after checking out the hack release page, I really had to laugh my ass off about some of those sprites. I definitely feel like downloading this hack now and playing it on my big TV.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
So this is what happens when you mix a popular detective show with video game characters and the results are hilarious. It looks great!

Now excuse me if I can wait for another episode of the series...

We've released a version 1.0.2. to address a couple fixes we missed before releasing the hack for C3. There's also a few tiny details added to this version.

I appreciate everyone posting here so far. :)

This might one of my favorite narrative-driven SMW hacks of all time. No jokes. Every tiny detail in the worldbuilding is well-thought and the new additions, along with some improvements, compared to the Hackjam version, makes it a really fun experience. It was like watching these policial investigation series in the TV. Really well done script, I dare to say. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see how this series will go in the future. My congratulations to everyone involved in this project. #smrpg{:3}
I'll go ahead and reply since some of us are still sleeping and whatnot.

Even tho we didn't make Top 10, I like to think we were like "that" close to getting there. I'm quite happy with how reception has turned out, especially with some 'notable streamers' playing it.

What can one say? The craziest ideas may just be crazy enough to work. Appreciate it!

I appreciate the extended word. We really tried digging into all the small details, including trying to tie up some loose ends while keeping the doors open for future episodes; we really do want this to be a series.
Currently we're planning for a Season 1, each episode hopefully not taking longer than a month or two. The 4 weeks put into this hack really showed us that...if we can do THIS in that time, we can do more with a month or two, given we give ourselves a smaller break every release.

Much appreciated everyone! I speak on behalf of the team that we're happy with the responses that were posted here. Happy C3, Detectives!
