Mario's Dying Simulator

KaizoTool-Assisted

Back when the first BLDC came out, I thought I'd use the BLDC baseROM to make something Kaizo, which proved kinda restrictive in some ways, hence the final boss (which also happens to be the only boss) and ending. It makes use of the various custom power-ups and resources used in this baseROM (tho I have not used all of them even tho earlier on I was kinda thinking about it).
Difficulty and design philosophy kinda feels to me like a transition period between the design style I used to usually prefer that is played and tested with slowdown and savestates with consecutive precise mini-puzzles, and embracing tool-less ideology (I had started MMDLite/Zero/Remix during the home stretch of this hack's development). I got to a point where I just wanted to finish what I started and not look back. I've found that even if the original vision is to be on the easier side of tool-assisted, it is still possible to get carried away (which I may have on the 12th and 13th levels).

Like FML Final Remix, the download is in the filebin, otherwise it might get stuck in eternal limbo in the moderation queue due to it being a multi-level tool-assisted Kaizo hack (and because I would kinda rather submit something that is more fun for me personally). Apparently those are no longer allowed in the hacks section despite a tool-assisted Kaizo category being available.
So yeah, I estimate the next hack I actually bother to submit to the hacks section will be either some sort of tool-less Kaizo or standard hack. Maybe then it will actually be played at all.

Ngl a part of me is a little sad that this is gonna be your last tool-assisted Kaizo hack, but the paradigm has really changed in the last 5-7 years. This hack looks like a really fun and creative sendoff to that era, I might play it at some point but we'll see. Great job with this, I look forward to your future efforts!

Since when has that been the case?

That's an overexaggeration on his part, but I saw what he meant with that. One of the MMD hacks (specifically MMD3) has been in the waiting section since early 2023 and hasn't progressed ever since, even though it's claimed. No clue what's the status on that, though.

I know I've said that multiple times before only to change my mind sometime after, but I think this time there's a combination of the bandwagon effect, actually having better knowledge of how to insert multiple midways per level (or just the whole workflow of the ROMhack races baseROM), and also RTA intended sections somehow feeling more satisfying to make, play, and watch than the tool-assisted intended counterparts. Almost feels like 2007-2008 in a way, but with more methods of getting rid of jank.

Pretty much. That might have been partly why I started making MMDRemix.

Cool that you're finding more satisfaction in making RTA-friendly levels.

Apparently not an over-exaggeration.

My man, it's a matter of PM'ing the hack leader(s) about that. Actually you should've done that eons ago. It's absolutely abnormal for a hack like that to be waiting for more than a year. And also, it should've been claimed by someone specialised in kaizo hard.
Maybe he somehow forgot, just ask by sending him a PM.

Somehow that never occurred to me. Might also be some social anxiety component as well, as there are a multitude of things I'd rather be doing in my time. Thoughts such as "it's my fault for making it as stupidly hard and janky as it is" have been in my mind too.

Might just be out of the loop but IDK who all is.

Please don't blame yourself. You aimed your hack at a specific audience, and you designed it the way you saw fit.

I still stand by my stance that you should contact the hack leaders about it. Or the moderator that claimed your hack (LouisDoucet), it's very likely that he forgot, took a break, or gave up but forgot to unclaim.
