NPCs v3.0!

While it is a bit confusing to figure out level number (it isn't too bad once you start getting the idea), no doubt this is awesome and will save room in Sprite Tool due to only one cfg file. Working on something!

Better than the cape!

I love you.
I'm a dirty heathen. Anyone have a Christian baby for me to eat?
This feature seems to be a very cool thing to implement into my hacks if and whenever I ever needed to add longer hints (which I most likely will).

By the way, is there already a hack that plays a message whenever somebody (like, say, a boss) get's damaged and/or killed? I'd maybe like to use that for some of my boss battles.
I'm currently taking an indefinitely long break from ROM hacking to play World of Warcraft again. Anyone may check out my user bio for more information on what I'm planning for Rainbow Legends: S********'s Adventure.
This may seem like a silly question (and probably is), but do they defy gravity? As in, if the floor underneath them was destroyed (SMB3 type block, perhaps?), would they fall?

Other than that, awesome.

They obey gravity. If you set them to not stay on ledges, they'll fall.
How about swimming npcs? they could be useful.

BTW, This is Awesome!!!

and a question: 32 messages per level or 32 messages per npc?

32 per level, but up to 16 random messages per NPC.

okay, so 2 random message npcs would use all of the messages, if all of them were different?

You could easily use up all the messages in one level, yes.
You know what I would REALLY like in an NPC?

Luigi.

I want Luigi to follow Mario around, grab powerups, kill enemies, stuff like that. Think that would be workable?

Is it possible to trade with NPCs? For example, an NPC would ask if I needed a mushroom, or extra lives, and they would give it to me for coins or other items, like in Super Mario Galaxy. That would be really cool! Not that the NPCs aren't awesome already...

Better run away before the Luigi fanboys chase you with burning pitchforks.

Anyway, Dispari, these are amazing. Makes me wish I knew ASM. {:/

Next up is random wander mode for realistic NPC movement.
Great job here, of course, Dispari. I can't really say much more, other than that I am really excited to be able to use these in my hack. Thanks for your hard work.

[?] Miscellaneous Helpful Hints
If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.
[Quoted from my comment: Hm... here's an idea, maybe, have toad attack enemies. Like... Mario comes a cross a koopa, and then, Toad runs up to it a jumps on it... or something like that. Kills it somehow.]
Anyways, looks great. I could think of uses for that, especially if it attacks enemies.

How To Design a Good Overworld
Cutoff tiles? How could you? ;_;

*cries and runs away*[/joke]

Interesting custom sprite. It's movement reminds me of the Dino-Rhino and the Dino Torch sprites.

Nice work! :D

*thumbs up*

That aside, very nice. Could be very useful. :O

Maybe make him go faster when he gets behind too much?

Heh! Making him jump when he touches a wall. That's a clever idea!

We really should combine our ideas.
I've removed my NoFades patch until I can find the brightness code for Star Road warps.
Make them actually talk via voice actors *shot*

These are really nice, I can think of so many awesome puzzles with these following npcs. Do you think you can make a sprite or block or something that will teleport you if you have a npc with you on the same screen? Or maybe interacting with pow switches or spring boards? That could create some interesting puzzles, but hey, these are already some of the coolest sprites i've ever seen.

I'd sure rather have a shortcut through the pickupable code since it'd be a bunch of work I don't feel like doing.
