First of all, an introduction to those of you unfamiliar to the hack. The Tale of Elementia was a SMW hack I began in March of 2007, and have (very) slowly been working on ever since. A lot of you probably played the first demo already.

Demo 2 will feature a total of 26 levels spread across 3 different worlds. Greenleaf Forest, the first world (which was playable in the first demo) will feature a complete graphical makeover, as well as balance in difficulty. I still have a long way to go with this, but the new graphics for the Treetops, cave area in Mushroom Woods, and interior of the Earth Temple are done, and featured in the video.

And then there's the second world, Sandswipe Desert, which is completely finished...

Of particular interest is Mt. Sandswipe, a tall mountain.

When you first begin the level, you have a choice. You can try to climb the top of the mountain...

...and come to a stone slab you can't get through!

If you take the other path, however, you'll come to a village.

Maybe someone here knows how to get through.

Well, it's obviously not him!

And lastly, World 3. What sort of surprises await here?

A large, expansive sea filled with treasure.

Some sort of harbor? (thanks for the FG, Waweegee)

An island with some rather :awesome: mushrooms if I do say so myself.

The Water Temple. By changing water levels, can you reach the boss's lair?

And lastly, music time! Watch this space, more SPC's may be added.

Mother 3 - Sunshine Forest
Super Mario RPG - Forest Maze (Cave Remix)
Banjo-Kazooie - Rusty Bucket Bay Warehouse
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Gritzy Desert Remix

Wow, Nice job on the hack, Can't wait to play it!
Nothing to put here at the time being.
Thanks to Tom Servo for the awesome new layout!
Nice! These levels look fun!

I like the music. :)
I've removed my NoFades patch until I can find the brightness code for Star Road warps.
Why didn't I heard of this before???
This is awesome!
This blue mushroom reminds me of a Mario Blooper where Mario eats a drug mushroom and the world looks like in your hack xD
Your layout has been removed.
wow that was amazing! I can'y wait for demo 2.
Holy crap!!!!1!!1! This looks awesome! I love the new ideas, such as a desert town, like in SPM, and a harbor for the water themed world! I can see that you also made a lot of updates to Greenleaf Forest. I can't wait to play this!
Looks pretty darn sweet if you ask me. Can't wait to check it out whenever I can.
I'm currently taking an indefinitely long break from ROM hacking to play World of Warcraft again. Anyone may check out my user bio for more information on what I'm planning for Rainbow Legends: S********'s Adventure.
That's incredible, Supertails! Looks like you put a lot of effort on your hack, and indeed, it looks fabulous. You also replaced the old Yoshi's Island backgrounds with your own BGs, eh? Your hack's looking way more impressive with your graphical changes. I loved the desert village - it's just like an arabian village within a SMW hack. Keep it up, can't wait to check it out! :D
That looks just awesome! I liked the first demo, but this one looks even better. I'm looking forward to play this one!
Didn't know you were this far along already. I assume this means you fixed that nasty fire flower bug that you had at one point.

The graphics all blend together rather nicely (from the desert, to the rock part, to the forest.) They look polished, and nice overall. If there is one thing that stuck out to me as odd looking though, it's probably those little green bush thingies in the desert. They look rather weird compared to the rest.

I still love the graphics for that Fire Temple, too.
Holy bananas! That's amazing!

... I'm guessing the Poison Mushroom part was inspired by Mother 3?

It was. Supertails mentioned this in his old thread.

Ah, I miss playing Tales of Elementia. Still waiting for Demo 2...
Very well-put-together trailer - gives some insight without any major spoilers.

The levels you showed clips of are very style-consistent in terms of your custom graphics. They have a unique feel I just don't see anywhere else, making this hack seem more appealing, in that sense. What I like is that they are not too extravagant and/or bold, and have a decent amount of detail.

Level layouts look as they've always been - non-linear and large, with a balanced difficulty curve that starts at a point where people new to platforming can learn, but experts can appreciate at the same time. One of the things I liked in the first demo was the broad variety of concepts, and it looks like you still have plenty of fresh ideas, so this is still one of the hacks I anticipate most. Dusk Ruins has always been one of the new levels in this hack that I've been looking forward to playing. ~

As for music, I recall the soundtrack being style-consistent as well. It's where calm, ambient music fits the mood, as opposed to super-jumpy, loud, upbeat stuff. Are you planning on unveiling any SPCs you've made for the new demo this C3, or is that all going to be a surprise for us when the demo is released?

In terms of technicality, you're selective about what ASM you use here, and that's something I appreciate. There's a purpose for everything you insert, rather than taking all the stuff you can find and cramming it in for the sake of having custom blocks or sprites. Some great examples of this in the old demo would be the puzzles in some of your levels, such as the Midnight Heights level's puzzle, and in the beginning, where you use bounce-up blocks to have another type of mushroom top, but the placement is not random, but rather to split paths or to reach an item or ledge in order to continue. That consistency also seems to continue here, with things like fire bars being kept to the fire temple rather than in every castle.

Keep up the awesome work, ST. You've come a long way in this project.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Even though the graphics are a bit simplistic, they still do the job. They look delicious.
Super awesome. I always loved this hack. The main thing I've noticed since the last time I saw this hack was the new backgrounds, which are fabulous compared to the ones from the demo. (The rips looked out of place.)

Great job.
Completely amazing Supertails. I did not even recognize the World 1 levels because of how much the graphics improved XD

You'd better let me beta-test as always (everyone else in thread groans).
You win. it's as simple as that.
Thanks for the feedback, guys! I'm glad you liked the second trailer!

Unfortunately, compressing the video did reduce the quality, so it was somewhat difficult to see the details. That must mean... screenshot time!

No fair! I had that idea! The hack is still looking great, though!
