But, hear me out...what if there was more? And the more, what if it was just a little different?
72 Hour Kaizo Level Design Contest #2: The Fifth Switch Palace
Theme Rules: For this contest, you must create a level that would serve as SMW's secret, kaizo Fifth Switch Palace. It is entirely up to you how you interpret that, but the level must end with the pressing of a Switch Palace switch.
As with the most recent 24hoSMW, theme adherence will not be part of the judges' scoring. If your level does not end with a block switch, it will simply be disqualified. Because of this, we will be interpreting themes as generously as possible.
Entry Rules:
Scoring and Judging:
Level Design: 30 Points
How is the overall level design of the entry? Do the setups flow well? Does the level's difficulty add to the experience, or subtract from it? Are there any functionality issues (i.e. slowdown or softlocks)? Above all else, is the level fun to play?
Creativity: 15 Points
Does the level present any unique or interesting ideas? Does it have any original, nice setups? Is there an innovative gimmick? On its own, is the theme of the level creative?
Atmosphere: 5 Points
How do the visuals and music complement the level? Are the aesthetics polished and pleasing to the eye? Is the music broken or annoying to listen to?
Our esteemed switch-pressing judges: Alex, GlitchCat7, Shoujo, shovda, YouFailMe
Deadline and Submissions:
Shockingly, this one's on a tight timer: the deadline for entries is Monday, December 16th, at 5:00 PM EST!
Please submit your entries here, in this thread, as BPS files. Any questions, please ask them in the Discussion thread here, or on our Discord server at #72ho-discussion and #72ho-showoff.
Good luck, have fun!
