Travel: Where have you been? Where would you like to go?

I'm from the US, and I've traveled to less than half of all states. Some of the more interesting ones I've been to include Alaska and Vermont for the nature. Some of the more predictable ones I've been to are Florida, California, Louisiana and Nevada for more of the popular tourist spots.

Aside from the US, elsewhere that I've been to in North America include Canada (Quebec and Ontario) and a couple of countries in Central America: Costa Rica and Guatemala. I'm a fan of jungles and their wildlife so those two countries are great places for that type of thing. I'd like to visit Panama as well for the same reason.

Only other continent I've been to is Europe, where I've been to several countries. One of my favorites is Iceland, which I've been to four times. I love the landscape, activities, and some pretty interesting cuisine as well. I'm a big fan or Ireland as well, I'll be going for the third time in April. I enjoy the scenic nature of it all, from the small towns and countries. And have to say Italy, for the overall beauty of the country and amazing food.

Elsewhere in Europe, I've also considered going to Germany and Austria.

Would love to go to Australia one day, I have a lot of family there, but I've been putting it off for years as it's a very long trip and would greatly eat away at my already limited PTO.
Inside Mexico I have only gone to three other states: Colima, when I have accompanied my father there to help him with work; Nayarit, when I've been on vacations to Nuevo Vallarta and La Cruz de Huacanaxtle, and while passing by Santiago de Compostela; and Guanajuato: once as a child on a school trip, when we went to Guanajuato City and Celaya; and another in June 2023 when I went to a supercomputing convention in the Mathematical Research Center (CIMAT), which is in Guanajuato City. While in the latter I did have enough time to be by myself exploring the town. It's very pretty, it has an old town charm that you don't really find in the metro area of a larger city, and the museums are great. Unfortunately the insecurity has been on the rise and most businesses were closed by 19:30 when the sun was still up.
I was going to go to Mexico City with my sisters in October 2023, but my internship process only picked up steam by then so I couldn't risk not being in my city if I needed to attend something related to it. Besides, my principal point of that trip was visiting the larger, fancier clothing and retail stores to see if I could pick myself something but, with no internship yet, I had no money to buy anything lol
If I could go to any other state, I'd probably choose Mexico City, then Querétaro, then Quintana Roo.

As for other countries. I've never traveled to any, but I do have a list of where I'd like to go. In no particular order:
  • The U.S. and Canada, to visit my internet friends :) (and also my family, in the former, assuming they don't get deported or leave)
  • Chile, as it seems one of the more interesting South American countries
  • Costa Rica, because the experience seems like it'd be beautiful
  • The UK. I've always been drawn to the city of Swansea for some fucking reason (how am i supposed to know why? i know no one there and have never even been in there LOL), and I also want to peep some universities in case I can pursue a Master Degree at one
  • Switzerland, because I've always wanted to try skiing and it seems like the ideal location. I may actually go soon, because my dad is having a business trip
    Stivi pull up
  • Germany, as a person which means a lot to me lives there and I want to meet them
  • Croatia, as Dubrovnik is there
  • Egypt, because my mom wants to visit some day and I want to help her make that a reality
  • Australia, to see what it's like down under
  • Japan, because it's Japan why would I not? Petting the deer in Nara and going to the fashion districts of Tokyo and shi

Baby, please, would you end your night with me?
Within the US I’ve seen more than half the states, about 30 of them I think? The only ones I haven’t seen are the north central states (Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan) and the south central states (Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, most of the southeast). Also some random outliers like Alaska and Maine. As for what I have seen, I’ve been up and down the west coast as well as most of the east coast, and when I’ve driven cross country I got to see a good chunk of the middle of the country.

My cross country journey was eye opening because a few states in particular really surprised me with how much I liked them. West Virginia was stunningly beautiful to drive through, especially in the fall with all the colors. It’s no wonder John Denver wrote a song about it. I also fell in love with Utah for how gorgeous it is, everywhere you look there’s some beautiful natural wonder. My grandma and I are planning to spend a week down there during my spring break this year to celebrate her birthday.

As far as outside the US is concerned I’ve been to Germany, a little bit of Austria as well as Vancouver Canada. This was all in 2014 when I was in middle school and I haven’t left the country since, but I’d like to again at some point. It’d be nice to see more of Canada if not just to meet some more SMWC people (I’m coming for you bebn), but I’d also love to see some other countries like Japan or Australia.
The majority of my traveling consists of daycations close to home, maybe an hour or two at most.
I've heard that I've taken some big trips when I was too young to remember them, but probably the first big trip I can consciously remember was when sometime in the 90's we took a trip to Sea World in Ohio and this trip also included Geauga Lake (sadly neither of those parks are still around).
I've also been to Baltimore (specifically for Otakon but I think we did some other stuff too) and Rehoboth Beach.
A few years ago I went to Myrtle beach to explore the sights as well as to visit a friend. In hindsight kinda wishing we could have done more down at the beach but sunburn was a very real concern.
I went to Gatlinburg last summer (which I'd been wanting to do for god knows how long) and did a variety of stuff there (including but not limited to various shops, Anakeesta, ziplining, Ripley's Aquarium, some awesome restaurants, and the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge) and the year before went to Dollywood, which kinda exceeded my already high expectations. They have excellent food too (even had breakfast there) and their wooden roller coaster Thunderhead ended up being my favorite ride there. There's also a ton of stuff for ppl who don't really care about rides.
As for where I'd like to go, (and this might seem a little cliche but IDC) I have my sights on Florida, specifically Universal Islands of Adventure and the Harry Potter park, and I also kinda wanna go to Epic Universe since they have a Nintendo theme park and Stardust Racers looks dope, but I worry about the crowds of that once that opens to the public. The various beaches in that state also look dope.
IDC if this is cliche as well but I would also love to visit the Grand Canyon too, and Silver Dollar City is also on my radar (would also like to do a road trip where I hit up multiple theme parks) tho lately I'm also in the frame of mind of having more appreciation for non-theme park vacation sites. Besides theme parks, I like cave tours, museums, aquariums, unique restaurants, and beaches. Seems like almost everyone in my friend circle has made excursions to either Chicago, Florida, and/or New York City at some point.
I've never been outside the U.S. nor do I have specific plans to but I think if I ever did I would probably wanna go to either various places in Europe or Australia.

So far, I've been to to Canada, and a few other states for mainly awesome things. (Canada, Montreal for Six Flags La Ronde, New York, Flordia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri., most of these for amusement parks).

I really want to go more international and go to Japan. I'm really looking forward to go to an island in Japan that's full of a massive group of rabbits called Ōkunoshima. It's definitely one of my bucket list of places to go to.
Being based in Prince Edward Island, I've done a little bit of travelling off-island; I've been to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick several times each, I was in Quebec once (I got there from the New Brunswick border), and I've been to the United States on a few occasions, even though the only state I've been to is Maine.

See, I have...a fear of flying, so for all of those trips, I travelled in a vehicle. I'm personally hoping to go to Ontario someday to do a couple of things, like seeing a Toronto Maple Leafs game (preferably against the Ottawa Senators), and seeing my all-time favorite band The Cooper Brothers, who are based in Ottawa.

Oh, are you talking about Rabbit Island? I saw a YouTube video taken from that island, and I found it to be quite interesting (similarly, there's another island in Japan that's populated by lots of cats, which I believe is called Cat Island).

I've considered a trip to Eastern Canada, any particular spots you recommend? I've been to Maine a couple of times which I really enjoy.

Well...I don't want to be biased here, but I do personally recommend coming to Charlottetown, which is the birthplace of Confederation (and the capital of Prince Edward Island). There's also some attractions in Cavendish (west of Charlottetown) that are open during the summer, and one in particular, called Sandspit, has a ferris wheel and mini-golf among other stuff there. We're also famous for being the home of fictional character Anne of Green Gables; if you or anyone else here has heard of her, the house of L.M. Montgomery (the creator of Anne of Green Gables) is also in Cavendish, which again can only be visited in the summer. We also have the Confederation Centre of the Arts, which has artwork that can be checked out, and occasional plays. Plenty to see and do here on Prince Edward Island!

I visited Maine a couple summers ago with my family to visit a relative of mine. It was a lot of fun. I went on a few hikes with my dad and older brother on local trails close to where we were staying and enjoyed the scenery and geography of the state. Maine is a great place if you want to enjoy nature, especially during the summer.

I've added Berlin, Germany to my travels for 2025 in June. I heard there was a big gay scene there so that was a big draw, but I'm excited to experience all of the sights and culture.
I've been to several cities within my state, but I never actually went to another state. Conversely, I travelled to Uruguay a few times to visit my relatives (my dad was born there, and I have several relatives from there), and maaaan, there are so many things to praise from that country, from cuisine to education. Might actually pay another visit at some point. I intend to do the Uruguayan documentation, just to be consistent.

I dream of doing an exchange to either the US or Canada. Not just to broaden my knowledge in English and maybe meet some fellas, but I overheard their culture is also good. I have no issues with moving to either if it turns out to be a necessary measure.

As for places within my country and outside of my state, I want to go to São Paulo as soon as I'm fully stabilized.

Huh, I never imagined you were half Uruguayan lol, I find that quite interesting. I'm actually curious as to whether you speak at least a little Spanish too, given your dad was born there. That'd be cool if so.

I want to go to Tokyo Japan so badly. Since it's the video game country. And I love video games especially Nintendo. Since Japan is the Nintendo game country that's why!!! #smw{:peace:}

Yes, though my spoken Spanish is not very fluent and I still need some time to practice it. However, I can listen to other people speaking Spanish just fine most of the time. Most of my knowledge I owe to school, my dad and a few select latin songs (as you may notice, I'm a latin song enjoyer #ab{;)}). My written Spanish is good, though.

Man, I remember we were having a conversation over Facebook literally over 10 years or something ago. You were asking me about which places to see in Germany and I remember advising Berlin to you. June you say huh. Berlin is not exactly all too near for me but I do have some friends over there. I might see if I can make it when you are here.

Edit: I just came back from my trip to Paraty, Brazil. The landscape is just overwhelming what with the mountains and jungle areas surrounding the sea. It was amazing, and the people were very friendly, too. Food was great, carneval was cool, so there's only one thing to say: Saúde

Man, I've seen a lot although not all 50 states. I have seen quite a bit of the Deep South (TX, LA, MS, AL, TN) for work and leisure. I have also been to Orlando more times than I can count for Walt Disney World (I sometimes refuse to grow up when I'm there). I have been in New Orleans for a construction gig and the nightlife there on Bourbon St was absolutely lit, although amplified by the fact that it was Halloween. Visited Manchester TN that was for a music festival that canceled at the last minute because of hurricane concerns, so passed the time in nearby Lynchburg to see a tour of the Jack Daniel's Distillery and vibed in Nashville which was also a fabulous city to visit. Also been to SW Missouri to visit a long time friend, SW MO and Arkansas is amazing, with lush forests and scenic routes, mannn..

I have an unfathomable urge to visit Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming it calls to me like the green goblin mask

Also Oregon to meet Xulon IRL would be heccin awesome
Man... I don't know... but I've always thought about traveling to some places in the future, like Portugal, USA and Spain, they are very good to visit. I'm average in English and Spanish, but I can understand.

Just wanted to mention that, barring anything unexpected, I'm hitting up Lugano, Switzerland in May, from the 12th to either the 16th or 17th. Looks like an awesome place to visit for my first ever trip outside my country. I'm pretty excited to just fool around.
