Bounceland: The Quest for The Holy Springboard ~ A hack where you can't stop jumping!!

Super Mario WorldStandardFull ReleaseScreenshots

Psst! Listen to this while reading!

Bounceland: The Quest for The Holy Springboard is a Standard: Hard hack which focuses on, well, bouncing!
Join our new protagonist, Sprig, as he travels up the mountains, down into caves and graveyards outside of his house, all whilst continuously bouncing!

Your bouncing shenanigans won't stop you from doing cool tricks though! Pressing A in the air causes Sprig to spin, and Pressing B cancels the spin! Woahhh...

However, don't go bouncing all the way to the end so fast! There are also very cool secrets across the land, waiting to be discovered by you and Sprig! Can you find them all?

What are you waiting for? Click on the logo and start bouncing away!
This looks amazing! My critique is the logo. It's look a bit bland with only white color. But that's probably more of a nitpick. But looks dang awesome! Already downloaded this and ready to play this!!!!!!!!! #smw{:TUP:}
this better have my small asm contributions from the past couple days
This looks so cute, and the gimmick is a neat! Even if it's a short boy with ten exits, I still bet the experience will be fully worth it.
Very nice job Seg ❤️ can't wait to play it
Please check out BOWSIE!
i shouldn't have ever been calling it love.
Thank you So Much I love how Sprig is always determined to Bounce to his destination
jump ripoff, do not play
oh there's jrpg-like music, do play

This is such a good hack, the bouncing mechanic may seem funny at first glance, but it's trivial and creative and albeit a little annoying the further you play.
The leitmotifs in the castle were a really good touch.

Overall, like Christmas Island 2, this is a must play for beginners and even experienced players (because of the bouncing gimmick).

This hack is a great idea, also the visual presentation in your screenshots is fantastic so I'll be playing this. I'll make an update later when I finish but just from impressions alone I have to say great job and I am excited.
very good, currently I am playing hacks with few exits since it seems more comfortable to me than playing a hack with many exits since most of them I did not finish due to exhaustion, it is good to have short standard hacks on this page
A Segment hack? Will be playing.
On the run.
Very good and I can't stop jumping until now... you will pay dearly for this  Segment1Zone2! I've never seen an interesting hack where you have to jump non-stop. That was some good creativity, congratulations.

I liked this one! Really stunning visuals and the soundtrack is top notch. Had some trouble disambiguating passable tiles, but overall it was fun.

I loved the gimmick and liked how it went in a radical way. There was no tricky setup and the levels were pretty fluid. I especially liked the aesthetics and music choices. It was a short and sweet hack!
Now that I've started working, I won't be able to be as active as before. This is really very sad and depressing for me.

By the way my Youtube channel
Mario, but he's cursed by their most useful, typical and classic ability of "jump" Bv

Jokes aside, a Hack by SEG??? Wow, I'm gonna play this one when it's finished! #smrpg{:D}
I'm working on a collab Hack, and we're looking for partners with GFX and/or ASM skills to work with us on Pub Quest For RR. If you're interested, contact me!

I'm feeling bad for this protagonist. If Sprig can't stop jumping...
How he does when it's time to hit the can?

Anyways, congratulations for the hack  Segment1Zone2! The infinite jumping gimmick is very fun and creative - and quite unexpected #smrpg{:3}
Thank you all so much for the kind words! I've fixed a bug regarding game overs now so if you've downloaded the hack before, make sure to either update using the new zip or... not game over, lol.

I opted to make the shadows colored instead of the letters themselves because I wanted it to stand out more from other hacks, which usually have colored letters+black shadows. It's my way of making my projects unique. =P

Very carefully, but also, you shouldn't be asking these questions. #tb{''}
I gotta say: this is a really UP-LIFTING adventure. Literally! Hahahaha!

I was glad of testing this fun silly project. Congratulations on the release, Segment.

I never thought that jumping around aimless and non-stop would be so much fun. #smrpg{:3}

Secret info: did you guys know that you can keep the slide state if you go in a slope with momentum? The results are amazing!

I played a bit of the hack, and I enjoyed it, the new custom music is good, and the visuals are pleasing. I did notice a nasty oversight - taking damage with cape while offscreen or partially offscreen does not give you invulnerability period, which means you can get reduced to nothing in seconds. I noticed this is "Nothing of Use, Back to it: Moving on Up", which is fittingly a vertical autoscroller.

Also, I can't help but still think that squished goombas look like shell-less koopas, they still look similar.

Had to tweak a bunch of sprites in order for this to work properly, hehe. It is pretty fun though.

That's just the result of the powerdown patch I'm using. Don't really know how to fix that and honestly isn't that big of a deal (you can treat it as the regular SMW powerdown in that case, lol).
If you're curious, here's the linkie.

Don't tell anyone this but
The goombas in this hack are impostors. They are actually just shell-less koopas in disguise.

Seriously though, both the goomba itself and the squished frame were reused from Christmas Island 2, and I liked how they looked there, so I didn't see the need to change them here. =P

Thank you for playing btw, glad you enjoyed the hack! #smrpg{y}

Look ma, there I am in the preview image!

I believe this was the first time I've actually composed a song specifically for someone's personal romhack and not the VLDC compilation overworlds and such, so it was a bit of a cool experience, and hearing my tune in action in a hack is a bit surreal in a cool way. I'll be sure to play to the end (if only to get to my other song, hehe), but I am very impressed with what you've managed to pull off here, even if it's considered "small-scale" by overarching standards of exit count.

Keep up the good work! Just, y'know, don't break yourself in the process... last thing we need is a Segment with no Zone. (...what did I mean by that? I'm not even sure anymore...)
embed fail!!

This ROM hack makes me wanna
BOUNCE!
Keep up the good work, Seg!

Also: Is Sprig an original character or something? I was thinking of certain character of a Disney Channel show about frogs...
