Marisa And Reimu's Hack 2

Super Mario WorldKaizo/PitFull ReleaseScreenshots

A sequel to Marisa And Reimu's Hack, complete with a cheesy subtitle.

INTRO
Previously, Marisa And Reimu wanted to find Russ to make it so they had a solo adventure each, instead of being together in one hack. Unfortunately, Russ is in Kaizo lands, and so, the brave duo sets off, with their adventure being full of tricky trials.

Marisa And Reimu's Hack 2 is a Kaizo: Intermediate difficulty hack, 8 exits long.
The gimmick is the same - switch between characters and utilize their unique abilities to get through tough challenges.
Marisa: Wall Stick & Jump, Reimu: Horizontal Dash.

SCREENSHOTS

Features for Komfortable Kaizoing
-Control remapping for some reason:

You can rebind some actions from the comfort of your SNES or emulation device. Yes, that control scheme on display is an abomination.

-EyeMode(trademark):

Look up some of the upcoming obstacles and plan your actions, aimed to reduce some of the trial and error.

-FPS Toggle:

Struggling with a particular section or like to take it sloooooooooooow? You can change the framerate at any point in the pause menu.

-Many checkpoints because challenges are tough.
-Fast retry
-Autosave

OUTRO+DOWNLOAD

While the hack is complete, it's still in "beta" phase, and feedback would be much appreciated before submitting the hack to the section. Without further ado...

Since it's kaizo, I'll unfortunately play it in a longer time. From what I've seen, I can say the following:

The map is very diverse and creative for a small submap. I also really liked EyeMode. I think this preview logic is a good feature for kaizo. Only the third image tired my eyes a lot. BG and FG look very confusing and misleading. Other than that, I'll look at it when the time is most convenient.
Now that I've started working, I won't be able to be as active as before. This is really very sad and depressing for me.

By the way my Youtube channel
I like overworld, I would say that it is a little difficult to distinguish the black blocks with the Sonic background but I think it is not bad
I might give a try to this one very soon. The FPS toggle and the EyeMode are such amazing accessibility features, thank you for implementing them in your hack. #smrpg{cool}

Really cool features built into the hack. I got stuck on the water part in level 1. It was tough to figure out that holding down changes how I float through the water, and then I found it difficult to jump up and around the deathblocks (unless I'm missing some other controls). The idea of having tough obstacles with frequent checkpointing is pretty cool, but it would be nice to be introduced to custom gimmicks in a setting that makes sense.

Have you visited NEW TUTORIAL HOUSE? it explains the water mechanics among other things. in a (more) safe and logical setting no less.
Anyone who's interested in Touhou Project can get their grubby hands on Kaizō platforming, and that's why this hack exists!

Oh I didn't see that, no. I just want in the regular tutorial house.

I even liked the overworld, it's quite beautiful by the way... it's good that Touhou is always appearing in hacks and especially with Kaizo. I'll play a little later! #thp{:>}

Really good hack
I played about 5 levels then i gave up
.
I can't say i enjoyed it when playing .......the problem isn't in the hack..........but i'm very bad in these kind of hacks that requier using L/R buttons
Especially when the levels needs both buttons becaus everyone of them do a diffirent thing
And i'm using keyboard.......my input that i used to use make the L/R gimmick even worse for me
So.......i felt was suffering more than enjoying
.
But i really like the hack
I like the idea that every character have her role and isn't just a graphic
Great overworld and levels
You even put some other thing s that can help players like slowdown (wich i used in some sections........becaus i'm very bad at using L/R)
And menu setting that make the player able to use any button for any skill In the way that fit him
So.......
Everything in this hack is good
Don't listen to my talk about L/R gimmick......becaus it's my problem and isn't a problem from the hack
.
Keep this great work
Noice job!

The Hack itself is pretty cool! Although that I'm not the best handling and playing Kaizos well, the builts and level-design is good!

Amazing also, the features of the FPS Toggle, Eyetracker and make possible change button settings on case that you're playing on real hardware! #smrpg{y}
I'm working on a collab Hack, and we're looking for partners with GFX and/or ASM skills to work with us on Pub Quest For RR. If you're interested, contact me!

I don't think it's so bad in action, but maybe I could remove some elements to make it less busy... or better contrast.

I thought the black blocks look distinct enough due to its outline color, but I could choose a different one, again, for contrast. Maybe green or pink-ish.

Your suffering wasn't in vain, I appreciate your earnest attempt, 5 levels is half-way through, which is pretty good.
This definitely looks like it's gonna be way too hard for me, but I still gotta say I really like some of the features on display here, like the section where you jump between the levers, or the controls customization (did an SMW hack ever feature something like that?).
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
