Seven Lucky Songs' SMWC Website C3 Thread

Super Mario WorldMusicResource Release

Hello!

I've been quite busy this weekend, so I don't have time to slap together some other wild CSS-abusing thread, so let's just jump right in!

As always, I bring some music for your listening pleasure.

Leilani Wilson - [Alternate] Hydrocity Zone Act 2
Hydrocity Zone soundalikes are consistently bangers and this one is no exception. Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers reminded me of this one's existence, and so I felt the need to port it. Transcribing this was kind of a mess. Fun fact, the instrumentation of this port used to be completely different originally.

Double Spoiler ~ Touhou Bunkachou - Bell of Avici ~ Infinite Nightmare
A good ol' Touhou port, because it's been a while since I've done one. I was just feeling this song over the holidays, possibly in part because I was playing a lot of Double Spoiler. @5 makes for an interesting piano, doesn't it?

Kulor - Forgotten Theme [SNES Super Mario Kart Omake]
This is one of those ports that was entirely fueled by a YTPMV, and that I started porting during hackjam 2. A snowball in July?

Johannes Krupp - The Snippet
This is also a port that was fueled by a YTPMV and also ported during hackjam 2 (but never finished until like two nights ago). Sensing a pattern here? The original song is 19 channels, so fitting it into 8 was quite an exercise.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land - Dangerous Dinner
 E-man38 sent me some high-quality rip of a Snoopy game that had this song as the joke, which made me remember how much I like it, so now here we are with a port of it, rushed out today!

Printer's Ambition
An overworld track I originally composed for a(n unfinished) hackjam 2 entry. The chord progression in this has been haunting me and I can't stop thinking about it.

Rondo Against a Square Opponent
This was a song I composed for Battle of the Bits's Oops! All New Formats battle a few months ago (you can blame  icrawfish for that), for the newly-introduced MML format. It's the battle theme of a silly little guy, or something. (BotB Link)

Listen to them all here!
(.txts coming to a music section near you shortly)

Bonne écoute! 𝅘𝅥𝅮

(the thread title is a reference to… something, completely unrelated to this thread. I'll draw you a cookie if you figure out what #tb{;)})

Your ports are lovely as always, The Snippet being my absolute favorite. Still midlly salty you got around to porting Bell of Avicii before I did but I might make my own version now that ChordBRR is a thing. Great job regardless, your original songs are lovely too #smrpg{<3}
Hey, in 0:25 of Forgotten Theme [SNES Super Mario Kart Omake], the chords are transposed wrong compared to the original. I hope to see it fixed.

Glad to see that song ported though, I halfway considered porting it (with original samples) but also just didn't feel like it.
jhi bebn
You ported a RTDL track? I could marry you. Nah but fr I love that game so much we need more music from it and I'm glad you delivered! 😊
That Printer's Ambition composition is pretty neat too! It's so fun to listen to.
I gotta admit outside of the RTDL song I wasn't familiar with any other of the ports in here. The Snippet is the one which I ended up liking the most!

All in all, great as always fam #w{<3}
Please check out BOWSIE!
i shouldn't have ever been calling it love.
You can't spell bebn without Sonic. This is such a different take in the Hydrocity Zone. It has a more chill vibe, compared to the usual energetic one. #smrpg{gasp}

Finally, Dinner! Dangerous Dinner is one of the most memorable songs from Kirby Return to Dream Land. I'm really happy you made a port of this one.

Rondo Against a Square Opponent might be one of my favorites. It has such baroque vibes in certain parts of the song (I love this kind of stuff!) and at the same time, it's a quirky song with some cheerful parts. Superb work!

These were my favorites so far. All the songs in general sound great!

Yum! Thanks for the free meal!

Great ports as always, haha. They all turned out so good, especially The Snippet (my beloved) and Dangerous Dinner (my beloved). I'm glad to have provided inspiration for the latter port too. 😌

Your original compositions are wonderful as well, both boasting memorably fun names. I really like how they're catchy and upbeat in their own unique ways.

Erm... fungus?
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
Thank you for the kind words everyone!

I listened so much to the port instead of the original that I forgot it wasn't right. 💀 Thanks for pointing it out. It's been fixed.

I've actually went ahead and updated all of the ports to tweak their echo parameters. It's probably most noticeable with The Snippet not sounding as choppy anymore. I've also submitted everything to the music section.

+1 for being a photography Touhou enjoyer. Bell of Avici is one of my favorites from that game, so I'm glad to hear it in a nice SMW port. The Snippet and Printer's Ambition are also really good!
Johannes Krupp - The Snippet is an exercise in how deliberate and precise drum programming matters within an otherwise reduced drum kit as supplied from AddmusicK, the keys do reflect very well here as a complementary element.

Musical remakes on the other hand usually don't tend to work as well as their original counterparts unless the sound format itself with limitations have been adjusted and learned from to some degree, which the intentions of get abstracted within the SMW renditions as the textural changes uncover the conceptual differences of expression in non-wrapped detail.
While I enjoy these songs from you. However I don't wanna sound rude. This could be a nitpick but I feel it's getting a bit repetitive to keep doing sanic, Touhou and YouTube/Internet meme song porting. Don't get me wrong I love these ports from you they sound good. However, I would prefer some more variety from other game franchise.
Some more game series.

Still sounds wrong. They're now 4 semitones lower than what they should be.

Imo, even if it's tempting to suggest that, I'd rather just respect their choice. Maybe others will port them :P

I mean, not to speak for bebn but he’s allowed to port whatever he wants just like I or anyone else are. If you’re wanting more ports from the games you listed, download Notepad++ and start learning to do it yourself. Now’s a great time to learn how to do this hobby, there’s way more resources than there were before.

I was rushing last night and didn't realize the actual issue was an $EC that should've been an $EB. Fixed for real now, thank you haha.

Echoing what Xulon said. I port songs because I like them, not for anyone else's taste. If there's a song you want to hear ported, you can either learn to do it yourself, or use the Requests forum.

I know you kind of echoed as much in my own thread, but there's something fascinating about seeing previews of songs being shared and then fast-forwarding to months later and seeing them actually released onto the site. The mixture of things I had and hadn't heard before led to a charming experience of familiarity and pleasant surprises, so needless to say I enjoyed my time here.

And you're welcome for dragging you into making more music :)
embed fail!!

I remember you saying you wanted to port that Alternate Hyrdocity a while back, and I'm happy to see you take it up. Great ports all around! I'm still in awe at how you manage to make certain vanilla samples sound full (in the case of the overdrive in Double Spoiler); keep it up!
