*Teleports in through a time machine* Greetings Old-timers! I come bearing good tidings and judging results for a contest of old!

In Second Place with a score of 89.67,

And in First Place with a score of 91.67,
DUNGEON OF NUMBERS by UTF

And then for our Top 3 results for the Kaizo Levels, we have:

Thanks everyone again for a wonderful OLDC! Hope to catch y'all in the next one!
I am not a latte.
Not gonna lie I'm super hyped that me and Erik won 10th place. This is by far the best I've done in any LDC. Congrats to the winners!
GGs to everyone, you all were fantastic. Really got some good entries and I am honored to be able to be involved!
GG's to everyone! And congrats for thoses folks that got the Top 10th #smrpg{:D}
I'm working on a collab Hack, and we're looking for partners with GFX and/or ASM skills to work with us on Pub Quest For RR. If you're interested, contact me!

I didn't expect to come in 36th place, even though my level isn't the best in the world, it was worth the effort... #smw{^_^} and congratulations to the winners too! #smw{:peace:}
Not gonna lie, I wasn't super proud of my performance this contest but I am still extremely grateful for the very nice judge comments. Thank you guys for enjoying my levels so much. #smw{:peace:} Congrats to the winners and everyone else who participated. There were some really stellar entries this year. #smw{:TUP:}

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven..............motherfuckerrrrrr!
Wowsers, third place! And to think my level was a rush job that I hurried to put together within a week, because I waited until the music-guessing contest had ended before I started working on Caves of Dizziness!

Yes, the second half definitely could've used some polish, and maybe I could've implemented a better shortcut to the boss with the checkpoint 1-up if I had more time to think about how to do so.

As for the Parachuting Goomba generator at the end of the second cave, that was just a hasty addition meant to prevent an unwinnable situation, in case the player fireballed Lakitu (killing him permanently), and then launched the cloud out of bounds. And, ice blocks are finite. So, the unlimited Goombas provide an additional way to open the vine blocks below as an alternative means for reaching the exit. That said, perhaps a reset pipe/door there would've been a better idea.

Anyway, I'm glad the judges enjoyed my level as a whole, and congratulations to OEO6 and UTF!
I did pretty well for a Kaizo entry! But dang, still got overshadowed by all the other Kaizo levels by a slight margin anyway! GGs everyone! #tb{:DD}

My friend SomeGuy told me I would be placed at #36 if it were globally merged across both categories.

My first hack ever so I wasn't expecting to place high on something like this. It was fun anyway and I learned some things from it. :)

I really liked the feedback! Thanks, judges.

Congrats to the winners.
I'm 16th with Green Jerry but that's also a good result

Fun contest, very happy with 7th. Thanks judges and everyone involved with putting this together.
Well, get the
15th
place and check the judgements' comments, I've finally understood what shortcoming and progress I should optimize, so I can keep going to improve my hack project designing in the future.

GGs everyone! I've played plenty of these but didn't finished all, still give plenty of vanilla ideas I've never heard.

The OLDC results are finally out.
I was surprised that there were fewer entries than I thought.
Congratulations All Winners!
I am yoshi9429 enjoying Lunar Magic and Touhou Danmakufu ph3 and RPG Maker MV.
Really??? I'm the
1st
place standard level?? That's extremely unexpected!! I'm so glad the judges enjoyed what I made! Thanks so much for the positive scores! It feels like merely typing out thank-yous and compliments aren't enough. I've been pretty stressed out over things IRL the past few weeks, so that's what's been occupying my mind lately. Seeing these results is definitely a pleasant, unexpected surprise. I'd like to extend congratulations to the top standard level makers, and congratulations to the top OLDC Kaizo entrants as well. The idea of building a kaizo level under OLDC rules sounds nuts, but there were people brave enough to try.

I'm actually still in the middle of my own OLDC (standard) playthrough right now with the intent of publishing my own ranking, but my playthrough is slow due to issues IRL. I've played 22/38 levels so far, playing them in a randomly generated order. Some of my early favorites include:
• Robinson Annulation
• ANGUISH OF THE PAST
• sculptor's trap
• Why Weird Wasted (It's called YOSHI'S ISLAND 1 in-game)
• MIND PALACE 1

I'm pretty surprised to rank higher than those. Before my own personal ranking is finished, I want to give my kudos to those levels. I haven't played the levels that got 2nd and 3rd yet, and I hope my personal rankings from here on out aren't too colored by me briefly looking at the results lol.

To write a little bit about my level, I felt like I made a pretty okay level when I submitted it, but I ended up having to rush the level towards the end. I spent 4 days on the level, with 3 days on the first half, and the second half was put together in the last 5/6-ish hours on the final day of the submission period. I wasn't expecting to even get into the
top 10.

I left a few of my level design ideas on the table. I wanted to have more than just one "reverse Banzai Bill ambush" setup, but it was hard to build setups that actually worked. Banzais were not programmed to appear in levels where you travel right-to-left. Riding a number platform was the most consistent way I found to get a "reverse" Banzai ambush if you count it as such, and that ended up being the only reverse Banzai setup in the level lol.

Some extra thanks:
lolyoshi's old video, VOMITSPIT made me think about the idea of a reverse number platform section.
Daizo Dee Von published a video of his OLDC entry early into the contest submission period. It's clearly marked as OLDC, so it shouldn't have spoiled any of the judges. When it popped up in my Youtube subscription box, that's actually what made me realize that another OLDC was being hosted. As an aside, I also like the quick breezy gameplay of Daizo's level.

GGs everyone! I've played plenty of these but didn't finished all, still give plenty of vanilla ideas I've never heard.

Yours is the Why Weird Wasted level, right? I thought that was a really cool level, turning glitchy platform behavior into understandable gameplay gimmicks.

Me and the live event,nailed it.
OLDC is finally out.

Nah... It still have some of unfair sections which will lead players to lose interest in it, though you've admitted it's a good level.
These results and judge comments are what I need to learn.

I had a feeling that I would be in the top 10, but I didn't expect to be second. I had a lot of fun making my entry and I thank everyone very much :)
IF I HAVE TO CRITICIZE MY OWN ENTRY, I was also very uncomfortable with the time afterwards. I thought that the time should be reset when I entered the reset gates, but I thought that was forbidden (I guess it wasn't).
I really like doing aesthetics with the translucent level mode, but the purple color seemed a little bit noticeable.
I started to simplify the difficulty level a lot, but I think some places still required a lot of effort.

I wish everyone good luck for the next OLDC :)

Thanks!
Now that I've started working, I won't be able to be as active as before. This is really very sad and depressing for me.

Not bad to get
18th place
with a score of
65/100
in my debut on a SMWC contest.
There has been a big gap in terms of score among the different judges but that was to be expected since it is a pretty hard and long level and not everyone likes to grind them.

Was collecting the moon really necessary to progress? That didn't add anything to the level.

Yeah, I wasn't completely satisfied with that either. The original idea was to add a sixth room (harder than the others) for the moon, but I gave up on that idea just because I feared to get DQ for having made a too long level, so I ended up with the idea of a twice-twice of the hub room, hoping that the player would have been scared to play all the rooms a second time just to find the rooms, only to then discover that the moon was hidden behind an invisible wall. It was very silly and, by looking a few gameplays online, nobody ever felt for it.

BTW: congrats to everybody for participating and mostly to the winner!
Kaizo entry, even though I got a low placement, I'm still happy I entered! As long as everyone had a good time, it is all that matters!
