I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Title was halfway chosen...

C3 Fall '09 topic, with 50 screens.
C3 Fall '08 Topic

Edit: Removed some year-old screens that had a lot changed since then, but if you wish to look at them anyway, I'll try to have them up somewhere else down the road. So just scroll down for more info.

This looks like an interesting hack, I like the gfx, but the levels look like they may be a bit challenging. But overall this looks nice.

Just one question, may I beta test? :3

--------------------

Emm Can i beta test too? I like the comebination of graphix. Where did you get redrawn smb3 bricks? SMB3 Redrawn is your base? or what?

I have been handing out beta tests periodically to friends, so issuing out a beta test here is a possibility. And now for some updates.

- I did a clean state on the Mushroom Heights level. The original stage didn't really stand my personal "test of time" (it was one of my firsts) and will undergo a facelift.
- Cheep-Cheep Lake is now Yoshi compatible. This was done by remapping some of Boss Bass' tiles from where Yoshi's Fireballs would to to where the Hammer tiles are located. Why would Boss Bass be mapped to there the Hammer Bros (both the default and custom) are normally located but not their hammers themselves is beyond me.
- Both versions received a very small update in their status bars. Both bros have their SMB3 M/L icon representing where their names used to be. Is this a "permanent" change? Doubtful.

Level design looks very good DP. I'm impressed and the graphics are as good as ever.
Is the all caps in the info box necessary?

OMG eye-searing BG with the LEGOS!

I'm not really much of a fan of that set for the level either. I'll change it to something else once I find a tileset I like.

And the all caps thing is a recurring theme in World 3, where Lemmy talks like an absolute moron with back English skills.

Reposting from the Screen/Video topic. I finally finished redoing my Mushroom Heights stage and I'll throw some screens your way.

Is that an "easy to get 3up Moon"? No, not really.

It's only obtainable by taking the second exit of a bonus area hidden in the level. The object is to collect as many coins as possible on the P-Switch bridge before you plummet into the fake pit back into the normal level itself. Without the right equipment (which is impossible to get until you're like... 3/5 or so into the game), Mario cannot obtain the three extra lives. I'm going to set it so you only have one try at place per visiting the level instead of backtracking every time you "fail" the bonus area.

unbleievable. Its time for me to gear up. If i only knew alittle more....

well actually i know alot. I'm Just lazy.
I'm loving everything from the screenshots you've taken, DP. The graphics, the level design, and everything else packed together within these amazing screenshots really make me want to play this hack as soon as possible. I have a small suggestion though - could you draw some black outlines so that they surround the NSMB graphics? They don't fit with the rest of the FG graphics very much, in my opinion. Aside from that, this hack is looking amazing - please keep it up, it looks like a lot of fun!

Funny you mention that, since I've been periodically going through the graphics and and removing outlines and improving graphics to fit the visual style of the game. (Mario and Luigi still providing some troubles on that front.) But adding them may be easier, but what specific NSMB graphics are you talking about? Like the pipes, foreground, coins, and all that fun stuff?

I can do better 1337 then that :3

Anyway, looking good. I like the level design and grpahices.

Oh, then you can leave them in that way. I just remembered seeing you using some SMAS graphics as well, but since you're removing the outlines... that's not a big deal. ;)

Well Broozer, I decided to give it a shot and touched up the NSMB pipes anyway last night.

....Well that sounded strange.

And while I'm still here, I'll post these older screens.

A friend of mine by the name of Cylent Nite helped recolor/reshade the DK Hammer so it looks made of iron and not wood. I tried to change the Boomerang to Palette B so it GFX in the screens I provided would match its appearance from SMA4, but Sprite Tool and CFG Editor refused to comply, so I since switched it back to what it was before.

Oh yeah, I edited one of the Para-Goomba's frames so it could serve as a capable looking Classic Goomba. It looks fine if I say so myself.

Long time no see, topic. I finally got regular access to a working PC a couple weeks ago, so I'm back to hacking. Many things in my game will receive an update (including switching around a few worlds). Here's some updates I've made, shamelessly copypasta'd from the Screen/Video topic.

Added an extra area for Stone Castle. It's basically two fences and some small platforms over a large pit.

Making use of the SM64 lava blocks.

Changed the location of the Stone Castle boss arena (possibly for the worse?). The hills haven't been recolored to match the sky, but I'll get to it eventually.

And a few more new things. They're not all patched yet, but the basic idea is still there.
- Some levels will have eight red coins; finding them all will trigger that level's secret exit.
- Emerald Stars will mark the end of a level and the game will keep track of all the exits that have been found during progress.
- Mario can now hold up to 999 coins that can be used for multiple things, but he will no longer gain lives for collecting 100. 1up 'Shrooms will still be present for the player to find.

Graphics are nice. Looking forward to playing this hack!
Love your screenshots but one thing I'm confused by.One screen shot I see Mario wearing white & red, while another he's wearing orange & red for the fire flower powerup...personally I'll go with the original red & white and green & white for Luigi. It's more appealing to the eyes.

...besides that minor complaint, anything else looks great bro.

That's largely because of how the original GFX of the Redrawn Mario didn't allow it to have classic Fire Mario colors and I just changed the palettes of it to something else instead.
