Edit: Stop posting suggestions. Suggestions are closed, as I already stated.

This thread is now my Master Hand sprite's Progress Thread. I'll post here whenever I get something working, to let you know the status of the sprite's completion, as it will likely take several days to perfect.

Edit2: What the fuck? I was SURE I posted in this thread last night... O_O Shoot. Well, basically I said suggestions are closed and that I thought of my moveset, and it's not as complex as I thought I'd make it, but that's what makes it a great sprite. It's not Brutal Mario insane or anything, it's a solid, all-purpose custom boss that can work and fit the theme of pretty much any SMW hack in existance.

I wrote all the details about him on my blog, by the way.

It's me!!

High on life is the best high.
Interesting idea.

Maybe you can have his new move-set reflect the SMW setting...Like having him release giant fireballs, Fire Mario style. Or by summoning various enemies.
Perhaps lifting up a sprite and throw it at Mario. Could be anything. Koopa shell, fire ball, Bob-ombs, P-switch (Maybe the play area is made out of blocks which turn into coins), Footballs etc. You could possibly remove the lifting part and make him just charge or something to make it more simple.

--------------------
How about an attack where he grows and starts rotating? *shot*

Seriously, though. Here's something that HAS TO BE DONE:

Rock-paper-scissors!
Hmmm... a totally new moveset?

How about... pounds the ground and causes pillars of flame to appear along the ground? Only one frame for that, and the already existing flame pillars. Maybe smoke effects from GFX00.

And if you can't jump on him he'll need to throw something you can throw back at him... so a shell could work nicely, along with a ton of fireballs (i.e, a ton of fireballs, and a shell).

EDIT: ...Rock-Paper-Scissors? Random thought: base the move set on that?

Hum... interesting idea for a boss.

Firstly, did you think how you will set the way that Mario can kill it? Throwable items, the standard jumping, or even a bit unused, fireballs, but not recomendable because you can easily lose the fireball power. EXCEPT if you use a always-fire power generator plus Health Bar, then it won't be a problem.

If the way is throwable items, my idea would be to make it summon a paratroopa, the one who jumps higher.
If the way is jumping, then you won't have to make an extra move to summon the way to kill him (Obvisiouly, duh..)
If the way is fireballs, when Mario shoots a fireball on Master Hand , it'll be invencible for a time. The time will depends of the hitpoints. If hitpoints = short, more time he will be invencible, and vice-versa.

The only "attack" move I can think off works more or less this: He goes to one side of Mario (Following him vertically, or not) and starts summoning either Bowser's Statue Fireballs or even Ludwig's Fireballs in the opposite direction where it is, trying to hit mario.

--------------------

There's the rock hand boss from Kirby Super Star you could steal some moves from.

I'd say an interesting idea would give him a pencil (or similar object) and use it as a sword. I did that all the time as a kid when I was bored.
Alright, time to reply to this ShadowTiger style.

True. For the enemy summon, I'd imagine he'd snap his fingers and the enemies would blink or poof into existance above Mario. (Hmm, reminds me of Wham Bam Rock's attack from KSS.) Not a bad idea. The fireballs seem a tad more overused, but I could easily find a way to make it work and be unique...

It'd be funny if he picks it up with his index finger and thumb, like he's pinching it, wouldn't it? XD I imagine he might move off-screen, come back pinching a bomb, and drop it on Mario, or if not a bomb, yes a P-Switch, to alter the battlefield somehow. Good idea here, lots of ways I could go with this.

Rock-paper-scissors!

AWESOME! I'd have to think of how to implement this though.

Hmm... Remember what I said about not necessarily making the Master Hand stay his normal form? With all these ideas, I'm starting to think I could make this guy into the "Magic Hand" instead of the Master Hand. Interesting... I want to see if I can go anywhere with this one.

Too limiting. Good idea, but yeah, too limiting.

Good question. I was going to implement all three. Item-hits would be as strong as three jump attacks, fireballs would be equal to half a jump attack.

There's a problem with the Ludwig Fireballs though; they take up lots of tile space. I was just going to make all of his projectile attacks custom sprites, with the exception of Extended Sprites of course.

Proper Edit:

You did, eh? XD Nice. I'll consider it. It would definitely make for the uniqueness effect I'd like, but I'd have to base his whole moveset on that, and the graphics routine will be a pain.

Now that I've had my sleep, I'll get a sheet worked out listing all the attacks I'll add.

Improper Edit: After thinking about it, it'd make sense to call this Master Hand sprite something besides Master Hand, since he'll have new attacks. We could say the Master Hand, Crazy Hand and this Hand are all related or whatever. XD But what to call it? That's the question. And not Magic Hand either, I want to try sounding less specialized-sounding.

How about Power Hand - which would be kind of a take off of:

[?] Miscellaneous Helpful Hints
If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.
I think I found an easy one. You could make it shoot three bursts of three fireballs all at different angles in the following picture:

(yes I made a crappy picture, stop laughing)
You could make it shoot three bursts of fireballs or you could make it shoot a stream of fireballs.

I also thought of a replacement for the fireball. you could turn it into small balls of plasma/electricity!
This sounds like a neat idea but I really wonder if that will be done at all. (No offense)
First off, how big will the sprite be? 16x16 would be way too small, 32x32 would be more reasonable. Though the limited graphics space you have, won't allow for too much frames, I think. Assuming the sprite is 32x32, you'd have 4 frames per graphics slot. Now that makes up to 8 frames. If you can also use the first graphics page, it would make up to 12 frames. But then we wouldn't have space for normal sprites. :/

I don't want to ruin that project at all, it was rather.. thought out loud. Anyways, while I'm at here, I'll make a few suggestions aswell:

1.) Although you want to implement completely new moves, I'd still go for the classical "punch all over the screen" attack. It could be like he agglomerates his hand at one edge of the screen, starts to glow -simple palette change should benefit- and then, speeds all over the screen to the other edge.

2.) What I could also imagine would be an attack where he goes offscreen on the screen's bottom and then flies up, in a spear-like pose, trying to hit Mario. At the top of the screen, he could vanish again and spawn from the bottom once more. Though I have no idea how far this offscreen things work since most sprite's HP resets when they go offscreen. If there would be a workaround for that, I'd totally make a two screen long stage for that battle.

Well, that's it. I know, I'm uncreative so don't complain. ;D
I wish you good luck with this project.
Here's one that's a bit more normal, as it can easily be dodged.
Make it move over to one side of the screen, low to the ground, and shots a fireball (like the bowser statue ones), move up a tile, and fires again, moves up another tile and fires again. Now there's a 3 fireball high wall coming at mario, but it is a rather easy to avoid attack.

Let's say that you do make a crazy hand, it could do the same thing, and make it double sided.
Seriously, when I saw the title of this thread I thought it would be one of those

'k how cn I put custom boss master hand in SMW anyone help plz thx'

But then i saw it was Skwaa, so thought Oh man, this is going to be awesome.

I don't have any ideas yet, but I'm thinking about it and will edit my post later with ideas.

Maybe he could make a fist, shake it's fist, and then roll dice at you.

EDIT: Or maybe sometimes he throws a moving shell at you.

Actually, I was thinking more like giant bouncing fireballs, rather than the typical horizontal projectiles. Mario could spin-jump off of them to reach ___ Hand.

God Hand

Maybe something a little more vague, like "Boss Hand" or "Evil Hand"?
Here is a move.

The BLACK CIRCLE is the sprite. He goes and spawns bullet bill, 5 to be exact.

Your layout has been removed.
Heh, it's easier to come up with insane ideas when you're young, but right now, all the good ideas are taken. >8-(

How about this: he faces the opposite direction as Mario, so you can see the opening of the glove. Then, it'll try to suck you into the glove's opening! If he sucks you in, he travels towards the top of the screen, and blows you back down pretty fast, hurting you.

I've got another idea; he goes into a fist pose, then follows you in the air horizontally; He'll try to smash you with his hand if you're under it, kind of like a Thwomp.

If you REALLY want to do outstanding work, here's an extra idea. You may be wondering how you can Master Hand damaged, but here's an idea. Spawn a smash ball from outside of the screen! Hitting it three times means that you can use Mario's final smash!
Some of the hand's finger(s) pop off and fire at Mario like rockets.
They can just grow back or something.

You inspired another idea! Mister Hand's fingers open up like a cap, firing (insert generic projectile here)!
Here's a simple one. Have Master Hand move along the top of the screen and stop at intervals.(like at 1/4, 1/2, & 3/4 of the way across the screen.) While stopped he could snap his fingers which spark stars like a bob-omb explosion and drop a lighting bolt thingy like a Sumo Bro. It would be an annoying move to dodge and Master hand would be protected from most projectiles by the blast. Of course, you'd have to make him immune to the bob-omb blast. ^_^
