EDIT: oh ya, btw, i have been able to get to the other side of that ledge but not been able to bring something to hit the on/off switch with, for if i do, it goes off screen before i can hit it. it may still be possible i would just need to move faster.

EDIT 2: lastly, these breaks kinda show why i think the key is the greatest item in all of smw... :P

This may seem like a random time to ask this, but are there actually any agreed upon submission rules concerning Kaizo hacks? Things like cutoff, cement block masses, and floating Munchers seem to have fallen out of style lately, and I might wanna fix up my hack depending on what, if any, there are.

Since the hacks technically aren't submitted to the site but simply to your file bin there are no rules, you're free to put anything in any hack in your file bin, and free to post here about it. However, in order to make a Kaizo hack tolerable these are the rules to follow; the generally accepted terms are the regular Submission Rules other than rules 1B, 5 and 7A (and breaking 7B is frowned upon but sometimes accepted).

So make sure it looks good, has no cutoff, no stacked munchers, etc. etc.
The only difference concerning graphics between 'regular' and Kaizo hacks is that in regular hacks the graphics are often quite notable and eye-catching, where in Kaizo the level design itself alone is confusing enough so overwhelming graphics might be too much to handle for the player.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Okay, so I'm rebuilding the first level of Pit of Hell. I actually got an idea for part of it from nmgn. You have to figure out what that part is though.



Also, incase you're wondering, yes, those little "frames" are coin blocks. There are also No Key blocks there, but I THINK those only work when you're CARRYING the key. If that is correct, then you'd have to go through some hoops to get the key up there. Cuz you'll need it later.

EDIT: Realized I screwed up. Fix'd.

EDIT2: Changed a single thing, making it more possible. Is the ceiling real? No one knows...

What exactly are you talking about? If you're talking about the first version (referred to from now on as 0.05), and if you're talking about the end, you have space. Lots of it.

No I meant about the new one, The first jump, Unless your big, I don't think it's possible, (16x16 place to go through)
I think he's talking about the 16x16 (1 tile) gap at the top of the first bullet column with a muncher on top, at the very left of your screenshot with the shell and springs. I've passed through gaps like that before, but never from such little space.... seems impossible to me.

Besides, you're not SUPPOSED to be big. In fact, it's not POSSIBLE to be big. I'll be redoing the overworld. Also, you have limited room on purpose. Let's just say if you can't get past that part without cheating, the hack's not for you.

But it's not just hard, It's impossible, For exaple,I can't do this jump unless I have speed 47-49.
And at this small place the highest you get it something like 20.
But you're forgetting, there's a such thing as TASing. And slowdown. Even I'm smart enough to know that. Trust me, you hand it off to SJ and he'll do it even with the two-block-wide space I give you. Trust me, it's possible. Besides, you don't even know if the ceiling there is even REAL. >=3

um no, first off, playtest it on your own. that is impossible, and you would need to spin jump at sprinting speed anyways. also, that isnt very creative, and is very breakable, you can keep every springboard.

I agree with SJ, it seems impossible. Even Pit (in fact, especially Pit) needs playtesting, and a lot of it too!!!

Also; spinjump? I thought it was possible with regular jumps too, but sprinting speed is indeed quite useful/needed.

And how exactly is that possible? I'm completely clueless as to how the hell that's possible without a yoshi, and as far as I'm curious, there's no yoshis that are accessible, except for later in the level, but that's needed for a certain glitch.

And as for the jump, some people really like Map16. (HINT: Fake ceiling. Added it in just so it's possible.)

I'm actually considering redoing the level again. Maybe.

first off, it doesnt seem impossible, it is impossible. and it actually is possible to jump through. :) ans yes, testing is always required.

@ evil - omfg, make sure u can beat ur levels the glitch works by grabbing the springboard the same frame you land on it!

Screw Map16 trickery. Only when it makes sense, you should do it, but setting something like a ceiling to act like a muncher is just stupid (unless it actually looks like it should kill you).

And yeah, springboards are probably one of the most useful items in the game, second to the key. The springboard can be grabbed on any frame, even immediatly after dropping, unlike any other sprite. So you can in fact grab it on the same frame you jump on it, through several methods.
