Okay, SOMEONE had to have made this comment EVENTUALLY about that glitch...

HAAAAAAX!
Super Flying Jesus Christ Mode disabled.

Off of that topic, I'm still working on my hack, and I need some moar ideas. I am getting kind of insane, because I inserted the P-Switch jump TAS trick :D
So what other glitches/tricks can anyone reccomend for my hack?

Wall jumps, key jumps and block copy glitches.

Mwhahahaha...
Sure, I got a boatload of glitches in store for you. They're not all fair though, and quite a lot are already used in different hacks already, but there are some that haven't been used yet (sidenote: these glitches nearly force the player to TAS or be a genius at puzzles. Even I haven't used them in my develish hack because they are too hard)
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Oooh look at my userbar!

I bet it's not like the most unfair trap ever, in my hack.

I'm putting it in, though the rest of the hack is fair.
Bring it on! I am definitely going to break that level, if only for the lolz!

Well... the glitches I'm talking about are erorrs in the hitboxes of certain animations causing little discrepancies to occur, resulting in being able to jump a few pixels further or passing through some objects or the likes.
Not really what you'd want to find in a regular hack, and definitely slowdown required (frame advance advised)

It's not a glitch, but a general screw you. I want you to imagine the cruelest trap ever, and PM me it.

The thing is, I can barely EVER do key jumps, let alone wall jumps. I don't even know how to do the block copy glitch, anyway...

I designed a kaizo trap a year or two back, it's not really the best, but I think it works. I call it the MMAT trap :D
anyway, it's pretty much a kaizo trap where you would have a P-Switch. there would be a long line of coins beyond the exit, and you must hit the switch to survive. BUT THERE IS A CATCH. The line of coins isn't long at all! At the final coin, there is a single-block gap above it, and after the gap is a gray cement block (or anything stable). If you are tiny mario, you die. That's where the switch comes in AGAIN. After you hit it, you must RUN LIKE CRAP into the exit to turn the flattened switch into a mushroom. The reason it does this is because it acts as a carriable sprite, even after it is hit. All sprites you can carry (even baby yoshi) can be used at the exit as a power-up if held through it.
As I said, it isn't the best. But it works in puzzle hacks, or levels that have timers that seem so unfair that you neglect anything in your way that could possibly help. If you use this trick, please, either ask for permission or give me credit. Or both. I'd appreciate it a lotly. :D
I hope you are joking me, this is one of the most well-known and overabused blatant "Kaizo Trap" edits. Chances are ZERO that anybody will ask you permission for that, because, well... almost every hacker came up with this trap him/herself without copying ANYTHING from you.

I'm sorry, it's just not possible to claim credit for something so simple, obvious and well-known. I'm using it in my hack, and I could symbolically ask for your permission, but I'm not going to use any credits nor remove the trap if you tell me to as I came up with that idea without ever having heard of "MMAT" or you... So I could claim that to be my trap as well.

Sorry to sound insulting, it's just that you in general cannot claim this type of thing. You can, like you did perfectly, ask for people to take your effort in consideration, but it seems a bit ridiculous with something so well-know.

(I think you meant well known:))
I expected as much. I thought that it was commonly used, since it is so simple XD
I guess in order to make a trap I can call my own, I must make it rube-golberg like. TIME TO LOOK INTO THE LAWS OF HUMAN PHYSICS IN ORDER TO MAKE A KAIZO TRAP. See? Smartynesh is a good thingy :D
I know a hell of alot of glitches that aren't used. there are several which I've only seen 2 people do and they are japanese TASers. Passing threw any solid block while flying.

Q&A:

Q: Did you use emulator cheats for this?
A: No, there is a cheat I've heard of that does exactly this out there but, I do not know how to apply emulator cheats. :P

Q: You used emulator cheats! THIS IS FAKE! ZOMGNGNGNGNGNG!!!!!!111!1
A: cool story, bro.

Q: Did you edit the hack in lunar magic?
A: No, I assure I did not touch lunar magic for this hack. Also, how would I do this within lunar magic?

Q: How did this happen?
A: It seems the author applied the SMWDebug Patch. Meaning you can 'eff around like I did by pressing L+A. Pressing L+A a second time disables the "free-roaming."

Q: Does the author know about this?
A: I would assume not, but maybe they'll see this. ;)

Q: Did you use emulator tools?
A: Well, yeah. It's a TAS. The tools I used were slowdown, and savestates. That's it.

Q: Can I see a .smv for proof?
A: Sorry, I used ZSNES to record, not Snes9x.

lol

Why is it that when I compare any other hack to Cool or Cruel, Cool or Cruel makes the other hack look like garbage?

It just seems like nobody has ever come close to matching worldpeace's level design concepts. I'm sorry if anyone is insulted by this.

I would really like to be proven wrong. Someone please show me Kaizo (or not even Kaizo, maybe just regular platforming) level design that's better than Cool or Cruel.

I look forward to your replies.

I'm sorry if it offends Hadron but I don't feel like my post was answered.. I'm seriously interested in what other people think as far as hacks that are as good as or better than C|C.

I agree with you that C|C is the best hack around.
It's the intricate, original nature of the puzzles, it's the graphics, it's the music, it's the fact that it looks good and it feels as though no space on the screen is ever wasted.
I'd still say there were some flaws in the hack though, for instance in some areas he is asking you to be a bit too clever and you can easily beat them in more simple ways.
Other hacks I feel come close are Spingboards and Shells Hack, Stupid Masochistic World, Kaizo 1 and 2, Super Mario Tabarnak and the VIPS. None are as good though. If you haven't already done so, check out Worldpeace's other stuff on Youtube, I'd say some of that was as good as Cool or Cruel. Also, Sadistic Designer sounds like he knows his stuff and his hack sounds good, although I haven't played it.
I think it's hard to come up with new ideas (without ASM) for SMW hacks, including Kaizo hacks, because so much has already been done.
For this reason I am making a kaizo Yoshi's Island hack instead, and I feel it will be an important addition to the world of kaizo hacks when it's done (I would say that though). Cool or Cruel is one of my main influences for the hack.
I have never seen a Kaizo YI Hack so it would be interesting to see how that plays. :)
what software you use to capture a TAS?

Late one night at the insane asylum one inmate shouted: I am Napoleon! Another one said: How do you know? The first inmate said: God told me! A voice from another room shouted: I did NOT!
Zsnes, or Snes9x, the built in recording system, it rerecords over your saves. Use frame advance for walljumps and stuff.
I mean what software to use to record the TAS to video file? (avi)

There is a play video feature in snes9x, which will convert the recording into a movie file. Or you could record with Camstudio or Camtasia, while playing the movie.

Technically, if you know how to set it up, ZSNES has this feature built-in, and you can then convert the original ZSNES file to an .AVI file. Check the ZSNES forums for more info. I've done it before.

Thanks, Mapsking
