===[STORYLINE]=[03]===

The year is 2402 GT (Galactic Timescale), and the planet is Tallon IV.
The Chozoan Civilization have become dormant on their planet.
After becoming a great empire, they've decided to remain on Tallon IV for the remainder.
However, they soon forsee a great disastre- the arrival of the phazon leviathan.
The coming doom alarms many Chozo, but they also forsee a great warrior to save them.
(SEE CHOZOAN SCRIPT)

The year is 4892, and the planet is now K-2L, a small Earth Colony.
A baby girl is bourn to a proud family, who aptly name her Samus- Samus Aran.
She appears to have a promising life- very fit and very athletic, even at so early an age.
However, this joy in life doesn't last long, because on her fifth birthday, disastre strikes!
The Space Pirate fleet, led by Ridley, attack K-2L, killing all in their path.
Samus survives, however, and is saved by a Federation Trooper who arrives after the crisis.
She is sent into adoption, and is shortly adopted by the Chozo after.
Now, Samus goes with the Chozo to Zebes, her new home for early life.
The Chozo are astounded by this young womans amazing abilities and talents from a mere human.
She is able to perform the most difficult of tasks with ease and is capable of awesome physical trials.
On her twentieth birthday, she is asked her life goal by the Chozo Elder.
While in the Courte of the Warrior, she replies that she will seek out the one to bring grief- Ridley.
She receives the Chozo blessings, and leaves to Norion, to become a Federation Hunter.

Upon arriving on Norion, she quickly agrees to go through mulitple tests and trials.
If she manages to pass these tests, she will become a Federation Hunter.
Samus is able to pass all tests, alarming her Federation superiors.
After these tests, the capital receives an urgent SOS from the GFS Raven.
The Federation ship had been attacked by Space Pirates and was requesting aid.
As a final precaution and test before hiring Samus, the Federation decides to send Samus to aid.
With other Federation Troops, Samus easily overtakes the Space Pirates and their leader.
It is here where the Federation witnesses first-hand, Samus' power.
This shocks the Federation and their members, so much so that they finally relent in hiring Samus.

Samus begins her first mission on Zebes, the birthplace of the serie.
Her mission- destroy the space pirate base and eradicate Mother Brain.
It is here were she first confrontates Weavel, the space pirate general, whom she dispells.
She also faces Kraid, within the bowels of Brinstar, and Ridley, in the inferno of Norfair.
Along the way, she discovers the uncomprehendable creature, the serie namesake- the Metroid.
She succeeds in destroying the Space Pirate Base, but is wondering of the remaining Metroid.
Samus, having just destroyed the space pirate base on Zebes, returns to space.
She returns to the Federation capital, as both a hero and a savior.
The Federation, after recent events, have decided to create the Biological Space Labs.
For both peaceful reasons and research, the Federation claim BSL will better the galaxy.
Adam, a newly promoted supervisor is assigned to Samus' assistance for further missions.
They quickly become great friends, carrying dozens of missions together.

About four months later, Samus recieves a message requesting reinforcements on K-2L.
As the birthplace of Samus, she quickly answers the call and heads straight for K-2L.
To her fright, the space pirates have attacked the Earth colony again!
As she makes her way through the tattered Colony and pirate vessles, including one Frigate Orpheon.
She eventually finds Ridley and several space pirates experimenting on Metroids.
Samus dispatches the space pirates quickly, but is attacked by both Ridley and the Metroids.
Adam, coming from the unknown, saves Samus from the Metroids, but is then knocked unconscience by Ridley.
Now a time bomb is triggered, and K-2L is destined to become one like Zebes.
Samus finishes Ridley off, hoping it to be her final encounter of the fiend.
Adam, to Samus' dismay, is seriousely wounded and cannot walk.
He requests to be left for dead, claiming that he will be the cause of both of their deaths.
Samus, emotionally crushed, is forced to leave him outside of the facility.
The now Federation controlled colony is still on countdown for demise.
The Federation, who haven't shown much interest in the pirate invasion, now take their leave.
As well as the Federation exit, the space pirates too take leave from the colony.

In the time between the incident on K-2L and the Metroid hunt, two years have passed.
Samus, discovers an emergency distress signal coming from orbit around Tallon IV.
She discovers Frigate Orpheon, a destroyed pirate transport ship, as well as Ridley.
The now revived Ridley escapes and heads to the Tallon IV overworld.
The piratesmhad been conducting experiments on life forms using a new, radioactive and deadly material, phazon.
There are two types of phazon, usually distinguished by colour, but also by radioactivity and density.
Red phazon, for some unknown reason, is much deadlier and more radioactive than its blue countrepart.
It's red colour is caused by the density of the materia, which is far greater than blue phazon.
Since it gives off so much radioactivityu in such a low area, it causes the waves to forme a red colour.
At the time, niether Samus, The Space Federation, nor the Space Pirates can explain the red phazons origins.
Samus clears Tallon IV of phazon and the terrifying creature known as Metroid Prime.
However, in destroying Metroid Prime, a new nightmare was bourn, Dark Samus.

Dark Samus and her insatiable hunger for phazon led her to the torn planet of Aether.
Coincidentally, the Federation had come here to investigate space pirate activity.
Unfortunatly, all were killed by the Ing, a terrible creature of Dark Aether.
Samus is sent to investigate why contact had been lost with Federation Troop Bravo.
Samus heads to Aether, and learns more of the destructive power of phazon.
She discovers the nature of Dark Aether, the phazon, and of the Ing, but worst of all, Dark Samus.
There are several confrontations between Samus and Dark Samus, yet Samus always prevailed.
Samus eliminated purified Aether and eliminated the dark creatures that inhappited it as well.

Having thought to have been destroyed, Dark Samus is picked up by remaining space pirates.
She is locked in the cargo hold of a pirate frigate which also contains phazon.
This leads to disaster, when Dark Samus is revived within the cargo hold by absorbing the phazon.
Returning to her past strength, she is recovers by sapping the energy from phazon the space pirates Find and obtained.
By twisting the minds of the space pirates, she lures them to the power of phazon.
She shows them the world of Phaaze, the homeworld of both phazon and Dark Samus.
The space pirates, with their new leader, Dark Samus, prepare a majour offensive against the Federation.
As a Leviathan, a harbinger of phazon, nears the Federation Capital, Samus nearly saves the planet.
She is, unfortunatly, attacked and immobilized by Dark Samus after saving the capital.
Samus, corrupted by Dark Samus in a fateful encounter on the Federation Capital, seeks to destroy the menace.
She saught out Phaaze, destroyed it, the phazon, and Dark Samus, once and for all.

After learning the special abilities and traits of Metroid while on Phaaze, Samus further questions the mystery of red phazon.
Upon discovery the attrocity of the Leviathan that had brought to their planet, the Chozo needed protection.
They used their guardians, the Metroid, to harness the power of the phazon in the Impact Crater.
In irony, their plan backfired, and the Metroid mutated into the nightmare that is known as the Fision Metroid.
The phazon had ultimately twisted the minds and values of the Metroid from their original purpose.
Instead of being guardians, they were now weapons of death and harbingers of doom.
In a last ditch effort to save Tallon IV, and likely all existence, the Chozo sealed the Impact Crater.
Something happened though, as the phazon further corrupted the concealed Metroid, they further joined phazon.
The Metroids were having an astounding effect on the phazon, even becoming able to spawn from phazon!
Essentually, the Metroid had been afflicted with phazon, yet were able to conquer it as their own.
In unison, the Metroid and the phazon had become one organism, one mind, and one spirit.
How did this affect the phazon? Why did it turn red? Where did Metroid Prime come from then?
From the Phazone, that is the unison of the Metroid and the phazon, one full organism was created.
This creature would come to be known as the dreaded Metroid Prime, the cause of the Chozo evapouration.
What caused the phazon red though? This was still a majour question in Samus' mind.

When she returns to Norion, she recieves word on the telepathic message.
She learns of the Tetran Galaxy and "the ultimate power", which she is to find, destroy, or contain.
It is in the Tetran Galaxy where she finally confronts Sylux and Weavel.
She not only defeats them, but also many other hunters wanting the ultimate power.
Within the Celestial Archives, Samus discovers information about the Chozo and the Metroid.
She holds this newly found information away from the Federation, fearing a disaster would occur.
The ultimate power is destroyed, and her mission is deemed a success to the federation.
However, one question remained..how was the telepathic message sent and who sent it?

Samus, after clearing the Space Pirate homeworld and destroying Phaaze, is brought to the Federation Capital.
The Federation now turns Samus' attention to SR388, the alledged home of the Metroid.
She is now to eliminate the Metroid horde completely, to avoid disaster in the future.
After she defeats the Metroid Queen, she finds the Metroid Hatchling.
This hatchling treats Samus as a mother and somewhat has a louve for her as well.
Samus, having eliminated the Metroid, brings the hatchling to the Federation Space Station- Ceres.
Not long after delivering the Metroid, Ceres is attacked by none other than Ridley.
Ridley, not only steals the hatchling, but also destroys Ceres!
Samus tracks Ridley to Zebes, a rebuilt base, where she again defeats him.
Samus defeats Mother Brain once more, but this time, there's more!
Mother Brain turns into the Omega Metroid, and nearly kills Samus.
The hatchling, returns and strikes a heavy blow on the Omega and saves Samus.
Unfortunatly, in doing so, the hatchling is killed by the Omega, who is then destroyed by Samus.
Once again, the space pirate base is destroyed, as well as the most of the planet, now scared.

Later, Samus is assigned to assist the Federation in Find and obtaining samples of life on SR388.
She encounters a fatal parasite instead, called the parasite X.
The parasite is 99% fatal and is only hunted by the Metroid, now extinct.
The terrible parasite also is able to absorb the form and memories of those it attacks.
Samus is given minimal chance of survival, and is immediately sent into surgery.
Then a Metroid vaccine is created from a cell colony of the Metroid Hatchling.
She is saved by the vaccine, and comes to realize that the hatchling saved her life not once, but twice.
She is then sent BSL after an explosion rocks the station.
Her comrade is a master computer on board BSL, which reminds her of Adam, pherhaps created from his likeness.
While on board, she discovers the horid SA-X, an X copy of herself!
A metroid colony is also discovered on board, being grown by the federation in an SR388 habitat.
The SA-X tracked down the Metroid colony, and destroyed it.
Before the destruction of the chamber, however, the Metroid attacked the SA-X, saving Samus.
Her final orders from the master computer are to take out the station and save the galaxy.
Adam's mentality is shown here, from the master computer, giving Samus newfound insight and hope.
She overtakes the station, and eliminates the parasite and copies once and for all!
The station is sent spiralling into the planet of SR388, never to be seen again.
Samus now believes the Metroid were created as protectors, not as ruthless killing machines.

After the destruction of the Biological Space Laboratories, Samus heads to SR388.
A recent climate change has the Federation worried, for SR388 is a home of disastre.
Samus heads to SR388, and to her submission and surprise, an old enemy has returned.
As Samus makes her way across the now deserted planet surface, she encounters former areas- now changed.
The planet has changed dramatically, as well as its geography.
Samus makes her way through one upper deck of a now crashed BSL Labs.
The impact was so great, that the station has actually embeded itself into the planet surface and underground.
When she finally makes it to the mainal deck, she encountres the last great enemy- Metroid Zero.
Metroid Zero, as it turns out, was created from the same cell colony as the last remaining Metroid.
This means that this Metroid has the same genes and memories as the Metroid Hatchling!
The Zero Metroid and Samus come to an understanding, but not before the last Metroid nears defeat.
In a telepathic message, the Metroid communicated with Samus, an ability none had previousely known about.
She is informed that all things must come to an end, and the Chozo had realized this.
Although they had made the Metroid, they believed that it's power could be used for a better cause.
The Metroid had saved Samus endless times, ultimately saving the universe as well.
The Chozo were truly geniouse in creating the Metroid, a perfect guardian- a guardian of existence.
When the Metroid Zero finally dies, Samus had been given a deeper understanding of life.
She returns to space once more, to search for a new mission.
The origin and saga of the Metroid has finally come to be known.

First thing's first, welcome to the forums!

And first post with awesome stuff? That's very rare around here. The only problem I see is the 8-bit style graphics clash with the original Super Mario World graphics, mainly the bullet launchers. Otherwise, this seems like a hack I just have to play.

EDIT: I am a psychic, getting to level ten when I thought I would level up.
Why thank you; members will find most, if not all of my posts, very epik as well as intillectual.
Oh, by the way, I too am psychic! ;D</b></i>

Don't forget me! Anyways, this hack is gonna be good, I can tell. I will absolutely play it.
Hey, I'm really glad you guys will play this game! :D
Don't forget, there's also a secret "Prime" area.
How to get to it is a secret..but I've been informed that the surface of Zebes is quite the..area...</b></i>

Wow, the levels look spot on with the original. But like Red said, try getting rid of some of the SMW graphics, they look funny.

Indeed, it's still in it's Beta Stages, but I should edit them immediately so I don't forget.
Also, I'm not sure how to get rid of the clouds on the overworld.
If somebody could help me get rid of them, I'd be grateful.

Also, how do I record a video on the ZSNES?
I know how to record on the emulator, but how do I save it as a format for YouTube?</b></i>

I don't know much about the overworld editor, but I was just able to delete everything from my OW by deleting all of layers 1 and 2, so I'd try both layers, see if that works. If not, try clicking on the fish icon and getting rid of all those sprites. I don't think any of them are clouds but its worth a shot.

Also for recording, I recommend not using the build in movie recorder for ZSNES, but use a screen recorder. Camstudio works pretty well, and its free. I only recommend a screen recorder over the build in recorder because I don't know how to use the ZSNES recorder and make a movie from that. I've always used a screen recorder and the quality has been fine.

have the demo up on now.
Check it out so I can make the real thing even better.</b></i>

Sweet, I'll download it to my USB so I can test it soon.
And holy crap, 40 people downloaded this!!
Forty people in less than one day! I hope everyone likes it so far, since Brinstar is large.
To be hounest though, the demo is actually lacking a room, but I was rushed to release it by another site.</b></i>

I liked it when I played your demo. Good ideas going on there.

However there were some things that made me go from 0 to pissed off instantly:

1). The first vertical climb bit. I know it's in the original metroid and all, but it's so boring.

2). After I climbed all the way up (All or partially) I went through a door, relieved that was over with. However, when it came to returning through the same door, rather than leading me to the same place IT LED ME BACK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SHAFT AGAIN.

3). Not all levels are accessible from the start: if you keep going right, you reach a tile which doesn't allow you entry. I thought 'Oh, thats fine, he must be still working on it', but then the tile didn't let me off again. I was trapped on a tile that I couldn't even enter.

You should probably fix these: The second one I encountered on a number of ocasions (Doors not leading back to where they originally came from). Especially that overworld tile, because I garuntee it will be removed for that.

Apart from that it's good, and has real potential.
Indeed, I have fixed the problems in the original demo.
Also, I had a generator on the vertical climb that turned off sprites.
There is a new, fixed demo up as well with the entire area available.
Also, as I've stated in the first post, this will contain the entire serie now.
The fixed and new items in the latest demo (v0.09) are;
1. Tile link on overworld is fixed.
2. Areas lacking sprites now include them.
4. All areas have proper exit and entrance links.
5. Tourain now has a proper time limit.
6. Areas where instant death is possible is fixed.
7. Tiles that cause damage on accident have been removed.
8. All doors lead to another area.
9. Overworld tiles now lead to their unique area.
10. Graphic garbage in layer 2 is now gone.
11. Opening screen now has proper copyright.
12. Enemies that cause damage instantly in areas have been moved.</b></i>

I'd like to request the help of a weathered hacker.
In the demo, my vertical level's sprites do not show up.
I'd like somebody to figure out why this is and come back to me with an answer.
Simply download the demo and edit the hack with LunarMagic.
My vertical levels are: 106, 107, 111, and 11A.
Sepharos,

Just an FYI, I decided to remove a big piece of my hack that really didn't affect the gameplay that much, so I haven't gotten around to working on your soundtrack yet. (I removed parallel worlds in case you were wondering)

PS: this is going to be awesome.
