Vanilla Level Design 2009: Discussion

Link Thread Closed
Well, I did make a level for last year's contest but I knew it wqs absolutely horrible. So this year I started early and worked hard on a piece of majesty!
I made a standalone game once, look for Seabug Stampede on Google Play.
So, are you asking me to play your level, Rotton to the Core?

EDIT: All right, I'll play Luigi is Missing!
EDIT: And Rotton to the Core.

I wasn't around during last years contest. I really wanted to enter this one, so I started pretty early. Work, school, and motivation really took it's toll on me though. But I'm glad that I was able to get it done in time.

Ultimaximus...you can try mine out if you'd like.

I would recommend it, t's awesome.

I didn't know about this site at the time of the last contest, or even that Lunar Magic existed, so it's not very strange I didn't participate.

@Ultimaximus: Could you do my level next?

That's not really fair. Would this help, perhaps?

If it does, could you play mine?
Okay, I've done Foursword4's. Here's the Word Document. It has pictures. :)

Now for Caracc's Rotten To The Core.

Then yoshicookiezeus' Déjà Vu Tower.

Then I'll try to see if I can do SpaceFan645's Mirage Mansion, though I'd find it of the utmost conveinancy if you could make it into an ips.

And once again, can I update my level to take out bad corner tiles?

Hate to add another one to your list, but it would be great if you (or anyone else) provided feedback for my level.
Okay then, REMOVED it is.

Also, since Supertails sent in an update, I think you can.
Thanks for the review. I'm actually surprised you didn't think it had anything "special" in it. I didn't put in any extra "gimmicks", but I really put a lot of effort into the puzzle solving aspect. But, I'm glad you liked some parts of it anyway.
And again nobody talks about my level. D:
So,my level was hard work and my betatester was kyo. ^^
I hope you will like it,this level was one of my best one-level hacks.

F-Mario X News:C3 Thread Ahead!
By the way, I gaved up hacking SMW. I think I'll come back, but not yet. ~ X-King
Yes Foursword4, I liked it, but didn't think too much of it. You'll probably place good in the contest.

Caracc, I'll put it here since it's short enough.

Rotten To The Core

Okay palette. Could use some work, particularly on the bottom of the grass.

Yucky water, but it’s supposed to be like that, right?

Here, the palette looks better.

I always hated slow auto scroll. It goes on for quite a while.

This place is better, and features those largely unused ninjis. It was quite fun, and difficult.

If Mario gets hurt, isn’t he screwed?

Overall, there were no errors I found, and it had nice palettes, but it was quite short.

Now for yoshicookiezeus' Déjà Vu Tower.

Then SpaceFan645's Mirage Mansion, which I thank you sincerely for the IPS.

Then Supertails' Click Clock Wood. Don't feel bad, as I offered to provide feedback for any level.

Then X-King's Prison Break, though there should be nothing to pint out since Kyo of all people tested it.

You just said everything I said but with screenshots.

It's nice to see you are giving feedback to everyone, Ultimaximus. Good work!
May I get feedback on my level, Ultimaximus? My level. If so, thank you.
Anyway, a lot of these levels look nice. And good luck, everyone.
How To Design a Good Overworld
I just want to point out that, if anyone has any problems with Mirage Mansion, including Ultimaximus, who is going to review it, feel free to PM me and I will give a solution.
I would also like feedback for my level, Travellers World.
Ultimaximus, or anyone else who doesn't have WinRAR, ignore the last IPS I submitted. For some reason, that patch destryed all my custom palettes. I have made a new, tested one, and it worked fine for me:

Mirage Mansion

PLEASE tell me if there are custom palettes. Please. And please tell me if it works. Ultimaximus, use this new IPS, I'll edit my post with the last one.
I notice nobody's commented on MY phase yet. (I prefer to call them phases, rather than levels. To me, a "level" means an entire world.) I wasn't a member of SMWC last year, nor had I heard of Lunar Magic. It would nice to get one of the three trophies, but boy, I have some stiff competition. I hoped to use this contest as a way to show people what I'm made of, what I can do.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here.
May someone review mine? I'm stuck here in the hospital...
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried my level. I tested the IPS patch, and it worked fine. I might have a few small glitches, but I fixed them to the best of my ability, in the last version. I also added a part where the screen goes right and then left so please let me know what you think. I don't think I made it too hard either.
