I'm sorry, but it just doesn't look good in general. I guess that's not very offensive coming from ME, but... it's just BAD. Problems:
-Bad Mario palette
-Mario palette doesn't match overworld one
-Bad Overworld(bland and repetitive

-Use some tileset specific sprites! More sprites, too

I hope I don't sound too harsh, fix those(which basically means START FROM SCRATCH AGAIN, sorry) use Map16 access with some good level design, and you'll be as good as me! Heh heh heh...
The criticism is fair enough. I should've posted the video description, which mainly says I made it to get opinions on how to improve it.
1. I'm trying to find an interesting Mario Palette. If anyone has an idea, PM me.
2. That will be done later. I didn't get around to it then because OW doesn't count in the contest.
3. As said before, OW does not count. It's meant to be bad.
4. I know the BG palette is bad. It will be changed.
5. I know, I'm going through the MAP16 pages and flipping stuff to use, and changing everything.
6. I'll add some more sprites.
7. I knew of that problem, it will be fixed straight away.
Nothing in the video was set in stone. As I said earlier, I only made the video to get opinions on what I could improve. it is a very early version of the level, which took me about half an hour to make.
