Hack Release - Dongs! (Unfinished) - Spring 2009

Once upon a time, I started a hack.

Once upon another time, I picked it up and did some more levels and graphics etc.

Then once upon yet another time, I realised I hadn't touched it in ages, I never was going to touch it again, and C3 was coming around...

INCREDIBLE FEATURES:
- Five-and-a-bit short, somewhat easy levels!
- Nice graphics!
- Bugger-all else to it's name!
- Probably won't get submitted to the site!

My Hacks:

This hack was pretty fun in my opinion. I loved the odd sense of humor it had pervading it. (e.g."out shopping in the next level. be back in 5 min - Mouser") Some of the jokes gave me a chuckle in real life.

As you said in this thread, the levels are a bit short. However, I don't have any major complaints with the design of the levels. I found the graphics to be interesting and the music to be fitting and catchy.

Nice work, and I hope you find motivation to continue it sometime soon.

Thank you! My main problem with this was that I really didn't plan it out very well - some things are all over the place. I'd like to do a similar hack in the same vein, though...

My Hacks:

C3 booth the 10th

I once saw a video about "Dongs", but I was not expecting the hack. Now that I see a sign for "Dongs" at C3, I stop at that booth. I grab the IPS patch.

Then I play through the entire game. The game suddenly ends in the sixth level. So it is a fun but short ride. Normally I like longer games, but today I want to hurry through C3, so a short game is what I want.

The "Mario Start!" message has a randomly strange S, and Mario can sometimes walk through the round rock.

If you give permission to the public to hack your hack, then someone (but not me) might hack a finished hack of your hack.

I put "Dongs" in my bag and leave for the next booth.

I really love your graphics here. It's nice to see some more screenshots and some playable levels from this hack. I don't have time to play now, but I will definitely be checking this one out.

Well, I played this yesterday, and I enjoyed it. It was a quick, easy, and fun hack. The SMB2 music patch seemed to fit nicely here. Some parts of the hack even made me laugh. Overall, nice job, and I look forward to any future versions of this hack.

This hack was pretty good. I had fun playing through the levels. Will you be continuing it? Also, what was the song used in the first level? It sounds so familiar, whats it called? Is it available on this site?

Nice custom Mario GFX and sprite GFX.

The first's level's music (and indeed all the music) is from Mattrizzle's SMB2 music patch. It's Pipe Island from Yoshi's Safari, if that helps.

I don't plan on continuing this, because it was becoming a bit of a jumble organisation-wise. I'll probably do a new hack in the same vein, but with better planning out.
