Very Basic Question about patches.

So I went and found some patches I like, but I have no clue how insert them, I looked at all the FAQs and I just have no idea how it's done, I just want a couple ASM and IPS.

Okay for IPS you use Lunar IPS to insert the IPS patches. Lunar IPS is very easy just click it tells you what patch you want. Select it then it will ask you what rom to insert too, then click your rom. But sometimes patches can edit your rom and there is no way to unpatch it. The asm are for XKAS, xkax is a very hard program to use. Find some tutorials on youtube or google.

Applying xkas patches is very simple, simply copy cmd.exe from the system32 folder to a folder with your ROM, patch and xkas. Then type in command:

xkas patch.asm rom.smc

With the obvious substitutions.

Since most xkas patches require free space for new code, you'll need to change a 'freespace' variable of some sort in the patch to free space in your ROM. This is a SNES / LoROM address that will require lunar address to convert between the address you see in the hex editor and the address you put in the patch.
