The Tale of Elementia

Very cool idea for a level, Supertails. I like your choice of music for the different time periods, too. One tiny thing, I think it might be better if you took out the first message block in the past. By the time you get to that point, I think most players will have figured out the gimmick of the stage and it might just be better to let them figure the rest out on their own. Just a thought.

I've always wanted to try my hand at making an alternate version of the Dark World music...
Wow... I'm stunned... Great music, great level design, neat blocks=Instant Win! That was relly good Supertails! Well done!
Hmmm... I really don't like any of the music, now that I think about it.
Also, the time traveling isn't a bad idea. Is there a secret exit in the level?

I like that level, it's a nice demonstration on how to make a level unique. Two of my worlds use the same "mirrored level" gimmick.

AS IF I KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE.

I like the time travel thing. Kinda like Sonic CD.

Also, great choice in music. The Link to the Past Dark world really fits with the whole barren wasteland theme.

The Saria's Song music also works well with the lushfull forest atmosphere.
I'm glad so many enjoyed Charred Woods. Thank you for the constructive criticism as well, posting this to the non-beta testers is very helpful in pointing out what I can improve on, the prime example being to add more decoration, which I will certainly do.

In other news, I've completed all 7 levels for the demo! Which means, Crystal Lake is done. Check it out!

So what's next? Most of the levels still have a couple things that could be tweaked, and a few more decoration and sprites. Aside from that, I have to work on the title screen, intro area (Peach's Castle) and the boss. As far as beta testing goes, I already have two people interested, whom I told the beta demo would be ready by next week. I need just one more... first person who replies gets it.
/me wants to beta test. =D

All right cool, you get it. d^-^b As I mentioned, hopefully it'll be ready sometime next week.
D: No demo for me?
Wait... I technically asked to be beta tester back on page 4, so I win! XD

Well, you'll probably be able to sometime next week!

Today I was busy with the intro. By which I mean that, "Welcome to Dinosaur Land" stuff. But you don't just start in Elementia...

Whoa... it's Peach's Castle! That's right, you'll wind up here as soon as you start your file. Mario has come to the castle to visit Peach, it seems.

But things are a bit empty. No Toads, no Princess, not even Luigi! You'll have to look around the castle a bit to find out what happened.

Psst... try searching the rooms for secrets! And aww, is that a Mr. Saturn plush?
It looks nice! I like how you seem to style it after SM64's castle. :O

By the way, if I don't get the first download when it's submitted, I'll eat my hat. :D
Your layout has been removed.
Still hard at work polishing stuff up for the demo. I'm also working on something top-secret that you'll have to look forward too upon release. I posted this in the screenshot thread, but this is the title screen. I spent about an hour getting the stupid ASM to work so Mario wouldn't die during it.
Very nice hand writing! This just gets better and better!
As I've mentioned earlier, there are four elemental temples. After you defeat the boss in each, you reach the switch. Each spirit is trapped in a switch, and when you free them, they'll lend you their power by filling in their colored blocks, like switch palaces.

When you free all four, they'll open the way to...*shot*

Lol, for some reason, renaming switch palace switches always make me laugh.

*cough*Your kanji is pretty*cough*
It's not even close to Halloween, and already Christmas Sales are starting early!
A word of caution.

If you don't put the Switches near the bottom of the screen instead of in the middle, Mario will be standing in front of the message box when it appears, which would look ebil.

Take the advice of someone who designed Shining Forest, which featured a Switch, which was originally in the center of the screen, but was moved to the bottom so Mario wouldn't get in the way of the message box.

True story! :O

If you can find any way at all to fix that, do so. ;)
It's me!!

High on life is the best high.
Heh, don't worry, it is toward the bottom, a lot lower than it looks. Thanks for the pointer though.
When Is it coming out? I am so psyched, I've become hyper just waiting!

Very soon. (the demo anyway) Once I insert the boss and get it to work correctly, I'll release the beta version to the 3 beta testers who volunteered, (Lucas, Kaeru, and TLMB) then I'll tweak whatever it is they caught and release it! :)

Also, a couple things:

As far as difficulty goes: I never liked super hard hacks, and I want people to be able to finish it. So, the difficulty will be a notch or two higher than the original Super Mario World. Also remember that this is only the first world, and thus is probably the easiest.

The intro, which plays Peach's Castle, loops every time you enter a new room. I tried a lot to fix it, but nothing worked. It isn't too bad though.

Back to work for now... but keep your eyes peeled for the demo, which will certainly come before Brawl's release on March 9th.
