I'm very new to smw hacking and nead some pointers. because i'm new, i don't want tips for the world map. not inyell i'm level 3 on this site. so for now, just level editing please.
Here are some tips for level editing:
Never use glitched sprites in any level (or objects).
Don't stack munchers (small black piranha plants) on top of each other.
Don't use pallets that either look ugly or hurt the eyes.
Avoid cutoffness!! Cuttofness is when another object cuts off a different one, or when things like ground aren't ended properly. This is a problem with many hacks so avoid it.
Do not make blatant level edits! By that I mean don't make levels that look similar to the games original levels. Also try to have varying terrain, with multiple paths.
These are some of the most important things to remember when making a level.
For more tips you can see the FAQ, submission guidelines, play some of the featured hacks and make sure you don't do anything shown in the hack removal log.Your layout has been removed.
Also, youtube search how to use lunar magic, find one that doesnt look fuzzy and it should teach you the basics.

Here is how you should make a level:
1: Press ctrl + delete to empty the level or everything. This will help you from making level edits which are bad.
2: Add land by where Mario will start, then place Mario there.
3: Add the foreground. Leave sprites later (with a few exceptions) and start the land. Try to avoid:
-Cutoffness (tiles that are cut, missing corners/other tiles)
-Stacked Munchers (these wont get your hack accepted
-no kaizo moves (go to youtube for that)
-difficulty incline (as you add more levels, make the future levels of the game harder than the previous ones, thats makes the game fun
-don't use the bottom row of the level because its invisible
-no repetive levels, keep it interesting, nothing repeative
-Use land, not blocks. It looks better.
-Keep the palettes (colors) of everything looking nice.
4: Add the sprites. Don't put spam sprites and keep them fair (nothing kaizo)
5: Add the goakpost. Keep its bottom row of tiles hidden and don't put it on clouds, blocks, unless it leave no cutoff with it. Make a whole screen of land after it. NO KAIZO!
Then add any other thing and touch up your level and your done!

IPS patches tend to be much smaller than .smc files are. When you have completed your hack, simply make an IPS patch out of it, and submit it to the site (preferably inside of a .zip file as YoshiCookieZeus stated). Bigger roms may result in bigger patches though: a 4mb rom will take up more space as an IPS patch than a 2mb rom would.

Don't let the player get permanently stuck anywhere. Sprites 62 (automatic line-guided platform) and 65 (chainsaw) cannot be in the same level. Yoshi, Baby Yoshi and Podoboo cannot be in the same level either. Some sprites need certain memory settings. Also download the Classic Piranha Plant Fix and apply it with Xkas if you want to use it. Sprite 36 crashes the game, but you can only insert it manually, so it doesn't matter. Use tweaker to give sprite 69 the ASM pointer "87D9" for another type of floating skulls. I hope that wasn't too much information at once.Let's milk Sunny Milk. Then she'll have enough money to fund Sunny Milk Real Estate.

More tips:
Don't add Baby Yoshi (sprite 2D) if there is a way to an adult Yoshi (sprite 35) be there. Else the adult Yoshi's head will be glitched.
Using the fireball (sprite 33) (podoboo) with an adult Yoshi, will make it uncompatible.
Using the fireball (podoboo) (sprite 33) without sprite buouncy enabled, can make the game freeze.
Sprite 1A can only be fixed with a pallete and GFX patch.
