Separate Luigi GFX .IPS

Okay, the xkas version of this patch isn't working for me. Does anyone still have the .ips version of the Separate Luigi Graphics patch?
Even if someone still has it, the .ips version is buggy and shouldn't be used.

Wrong. They must be in the expanded area of the ROM ($10xxxx or higher (there's no big enough areas earlier than that)), and they must be in different banks. Try RockinKirby's addresses instead.

EDIT: Okay, I'm starting to lost my patience with this patch. I've pointed it to free space about seven times, and each time, Mario and Lugi end up with even more rediculous graphics than the last. Is there ANYTHING else I could be doing wrong?

Hmmm, usually that works. I dont know what the problem is then. Also, keep trying, it took me a while to figure it out too. I spent weeks trying.
Try putting $1E8000 and $1F8000 as the addresses. If it's a recently started hack, those areas should probably be untouched.
Okay, about mid way the code you have to change something if your hack dose not use ExGFX, There will be somthing down there that says what to replace it with.

No, it uses ExGFX. I'll try Small's idea.

1. Everytime I use the patch, it disables the A button for Luigi. Is it supposed to be doing that?

2. Luigi's graphics don't change. He still uses Mario's graphics and a green palette.

I think a patch is stopping this from working, but unfortunately, I have no idea what patches I installed. I'll just scrap the hack and start over. I only changed one level, anyway.

Just insert the patch. ...but make sure to point it at some free space.
Hi,

I have a problem, too and I hope you can help me.
I have a US ROM with header and so far I could patch IPS quite well...
Now this ASM patch (Luigi seperate GFX) is giving me some trouble.

I expanded the ROM to 1 MB or even 4.

The expanded ROM itself runs just fine (apart from showing a bad checksum).

The free addresses Smallhacker mentioned are free in my ROM as well (tried freespace logger there), so I typed those addresses in, but the ROM just gives me a black screen then.

I tried other addresses, but it doesn't work either.


What else could I try to do?


An answer would be very nice, thanks in advance :)


EDIT: I tried to patch the original ROM with no IPS patches or whatsoever applied - the IPS patches I mentioned were tried seperately.

Your layout has been removed.
Aurgreifin it's always a better idea to make a fresh thread then to bump a couple month old one, and post EVERYTHING including the patch with addresses, if slogger is showing free space etc. It might be related but the old threads should be left alone.
