Hello, and welcome to MindTrap, where things are seldom as they seem. I am your host, Ultimaximus, and I'll be asking the questions. Whosoever gets the most points shall win and take home the gold! But be warned, if I so much as have a hint of suspicion of cheating, you will immediately be disqualified!
What a great use of my 2000th post, yeah? I hope this gets more activity for the FoS, and doesn't get dropped like my waste of a 1000th post. Essentially, I have a game called MindTrap. It has cards with tricky riddles that I will be posting here. The first to answer correctly gets the points, and the next question is posted. If after 24 hours a question is left unanswered, I shall post the answer and take it down.
There are 2 rounds. The first round has 3 categories: Normal, Hard, and Very Hard, which are worth 1, 2, and 5 points respectively. The second round's questions are all 2 points each, and have 3 categories: "Generic", "Magic", and "Death, Crime, & Deceit".
You may not cheat (I assume you know what cheating is)
You may only have one guess per question per post (Meaning you can have 2 guesses for the 2 questions in a single post, but never two guesses for the same question in one post. When I say that you are incorrect, you may post again.)
You may not question the answer
You may not question the category placement
You must explain your answer if possible (To prevent cheating)
Normal (1) "What five-letter word becomes shorter when you add two letters to it?"
Very Hard (5) "If someone said to you, "I will bet you $1 that if you give me $2, I will give you $3 in return", would this be a good bet for you to take? Explain."
Normal (1) "A high speed electric train is travelling southeast at 90 kilometers per hour. The wind is blowing westward at 30 kilometers per hour. In what direction will the smoke from the engine blow?"
Very Hard (5) "If a third of six is three, what would half of twenty be? Explain."
Correct! I have also fixed an error: Normal is worth 1 point, not 2.
06 - yoshicookiezeus
06 - Hailstorm
Hard (2) "A worm is at the bottom of a forty meter hole. It can crawl upwards at the rate of four meters in one day, but at night, it slips back three meters. At this rate, how long will it take the worm to crawl out of the hole?"
Normal (1) "What is the closest relation that your father's sister's sister-in-law could be to you?"
Very Hard (5) "Can you translate the following into a sentence?"
1 0 0 2 0 4 1 8 0
1: When I first thought about this, I thought aunt through marriage, because your father's sister could've had another brother that got married, but then again, her brother (which would be your father) could've gotten married and that would've been your mother. And your mother is closer.
