Donkey Kong Country 3 was the best one for me, but i've never played Donkey Kong Country 1 for some unexplained reason so yeah out of 2 and 3, 3 was best for me.

For me the best DKC game is the original, first one. Not just because it was the only one I've played in the original secrets and spent lots of time on my childhood to discover the secrets, but because after playing DKC 2 and 3, I thought they were easy and I was able to beat DKC 2 and 3 with everything using like, a bit more of half time I'd reveal everything on DKC 1. (I mean, each one, not the two at once)

I also like DKC songs a lot. My favorites would be Cave Dweller Concert, Fear Factory and Gang-Plank Galleon. In that order.

However, the bosses were too easy on DKC. The bosses, in general, on the DKC series were all easy. Well, look at King K. Rool! He's stupdly easy for a final boss.

Don't get the wrong idea, I like DKC2 and DKC3 also, however, as I said before, easy games (at least for me). I actually like more the soundtrack of DKC2 (Bad Bird Rag, Mining Melancholy, Stickerbrush Symphony <3), however what usually atracts me on a game is the challenge.

As my final comment: If DKC2 and DKC3 are more harden than DKC1, I don't know then how I found DKC1 the hardest game on the series.

DKC2 was harder than DKC1 in my opinion. I mean it's supposed to be hard right? However there are a few levels in DKC1 that were extremly hard. I just think DKC2 is harder overall.

D;

It's a tie between 1 and 2. I loved 1 when I was a kid and played it 'til my fingers cried. But 2 almost takes the cake because of the soundtrack. I just loooooooooooooooooooooove Bramble Blast and Welcome To Crocodile Isle.

But I haven't played 3 yet so what do I know?
Vah'Neela's Mansion coming soon.
DKC 1, just because it's the original. I like everything original. That's why the best Mario game for me is Super Mario Bros. 1.
Hi! I'm dead!

Donkey Kong Sixty-Four. It added the funniest Song to Super Smash Brothers: Melee. Brawls refusal to add Dixie Kong and the trophy for Dread Kong, are the lest of all the things wrong with it.

I'll have to go with 3. Mainly because it's the first one I ever played, and so kind of got me into non-Mario platforming.
That's a hard one...
I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say DKC2 with DKC coming in a close 2nd

Hmm...I gotta say this, i freakin love the original dkc BUT i have to go with dkc 2. I can talk on forever about this so i give 4 reasons.

1.it got an awesome theme about pirates and made it all piratey with coves and so, but still not so they abused the idea. Since (spoiler) King carol uses a mecanic ship and leaves the gankplank galleon. And also a great tribute to the original dkc is that the first world is on gankplank galleon.

2.Gotta be the music. What can i say about the music? well...F***ING AMAZING! They go from epic creepy and then relaxing. So if they should make the game based on pirates. It needed epic music. And they made us...Amazed. And also i should point out that the main composer is david wise. And you heard him make some amazing songs in dkc. So they were really "wise" they picked him. Sheers =D

3.The graphics. They abused the capabilities of the snes and made something that noone have never made. They fit so many things into one pallete i though i played a sega saturn game for a second =O. They did it that cool. And they added 1000ands details to the backrounds and also to the foreground. Instead to make it cartoony like the most nintendo games. It looked really realistic. And also one flaw...ADD SHADOWS UNDER THE PLAYER. Then it will be perfect!

4. LEVEL DESIGN!!! I god i think this have been said 100000000 times so i am going to say this...AWESOME! And also i think they was having fun while making this. Example, They made a level about climbing around brambles and made a level about a hornet hole where you hade to jumparound in honey. Also instead of having just the same level design about walking to the goal...WHEN YOU COULD GO CRAZY ON A ROLLERCOASTER! OR RIDE ON A BALLON! yeah! awesome! Every level always had a new fresh idea. The bosses are the best. Since almost every nintendo game had to wimp out with the Difficulty on bosses...Here rareware desided:Hey lets not wimp out like others and make the bosses challenging! They are also very creative! First you fight a crow then he returns as a ghost later! And fighting a sword...Yeah kinda eronic isnt it? I think i have talked enough...Lets see how the rating is of this game.

Music 10/10

theme 10/10

Graphics 9/10

Level design 100/10...Hey...The levels are awesome.....................................DAMN i need to make more of these high quality posts i will be popular then!

That is brutal!
Anyway I would say 1 cause it seemed like I had the most fun then any of the others.
DKC2 all the way.
Current Project(RPGVX) Seals of Corruption.

Wew, a bit late, but I too have to say DKC2 wins the cake.

My reasoning is simply that I love the darker atmosphere, and I thought the levels and music were both excellent. DKC is a great early game, but it really lacks the gameplay depth that the second added. I also like controlling Diddy and Dixie a whole lot better than Kiddy and DK. I would go as far as to say it's probably my all-time favourite SNES game.

An addendum
Despite never having owned any of the DKC games, I played them a lot. On emulators, they really don't live up to their names. I am wondering if the one criticizing Razor Hills in DKC3 is playing it on emulator, because I don't think it was all that boring without all that keyboard and save state crap.

I also thought it was brilliant that Rare followed through with 1 having 101% to find and one ending, second had 102% and two endings, while the last one had 103% and three endings. They really did an amazing job with quality sequel after sequel, but DKC2 just felt all the more epic to me.
Although I consider DKC2 the best in the trilogy. My favorite has to be DKC3 because of it's level design.
In the darkness, lies the truth.
I would choose dk country 1. The visuals, soundtrack and gameplay were great for 1994. Gameplay is still great today ;D
Donkey Kong Country 3 is not only my favorite of the series, but my favorite video game outright. I would rank them 3-2-1 for how much I like them, which ironically, is the exact opposite of how "the world" ranked them. I don't know why I liked the third game best...I just did.

I didn't mind Razor Ridge, though. Even Kong-Fused Cliffs wasn't all that bad once I got used to it. And what's the problem with Floodlit Fish (the dark underwater stage)? I mean, even when the screen is completely dark, you can still see everything faintly, and besides, without the light factor, that one would probably be easier than the other two underwater stages, which are in Cotton-Top Cove (world 3). I just had trouble finding one of the bonuses in that one, and I kind of facepalmed when I finally did find it. Pot Hold Panic was interesting (it was, you know, the only stage in the game to have the Kuchukas), and Ropey Rumpus really wasn't that hard, I didn't think. All you have to do is fine a safe place on the rope, watch the pattern of the Buzzes, and make a mad dash at the right time.

Ah, if only there were an editor for DKC3...there are editors for the first two games, but the first one apparently sucks, and the second one is impossible to figure out for anyone who doesn't speak Japanese. Well, if my DKC3 disassembly project idea comes to fruition, who knows? Maybe we could get some DKC3 hacking at Kuribo's Shoe.

The Donkey Kong Country games are just awesome in general. You don't get that kind of gameplay nowadays, let alone that kind of gameplay in combination with great graphics and music.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
