Are we allowed to make levels be very long, similar to all those 1-level hacks, or will we get a lower percentage if we do that sort of thing? Also, if we're allowed to make long levels like that, would we be disqualified if we had multiple level tiles that lead to different parts of this one level?

I've been planning over the course of several pieces of paper. I even divided up the paper into equal sections with a ruler! I also plan to learn more for the contest, such as HDMA.

Chikane: If someone wants to make a Kaizo-style level, they can go right ahead. However, they can also expect a much lower percentage.

BLOCKMAN: It really comes down to fun. A 30 second level can be more fun than a 10 minute level, and vice versa. If the level is really enjoyable and long, then the hacker clearly knows what he/she is doing, and will most likely get a higher score.
Looks like a good contest Ive never done any here on SMWC.

Also will there be a userbar for contestants and judges?
(everyone likes userbars :3 )

Then I have a new question. It's perfectly okay for us to ask others who aren't judging to play our levels to make sure they're fun, right? I ask because my idea may be too long to be fun, and I absolutely cannot stand making something that isn't fun.

Well, we certainly can't stop you now, can we?

That's music to my ears! ^_^

Due to some recent... events... I have the perfect idea of how my level (if I do get around to it) will go. :D

I have to start planning it all out when I.. Take a shower, Ride the bike for 30min (or more), and read for an hour. :D

Just back here to browse a bit.
Can the level be in exported format? (like when you download ExGFX, some of them come with sample levels)

Hack under construction: SMB Odyssey (SMB1 Hack) [not to be confused with the Super Mario Odyssey SMW hack]

Will (willj168)
Because i'm pretty busy, i dont have plans of making levels but playing and reviewing them. Yay!

i just lurk sometimes
My only question is it just one level or do more levels get you a higher score(if each are made awesome and such)
Awwww... I'll try, but my level will not shine as the others. It will be 1 of 600 and, well, I'm 100% sure I'wont even be in the 100 firsts.
So I'll do my best ! Lunar Magic, prepare to an 5-hour/day use ! >=D
...Eh, Chronicles of Kooppa can be put off for a few days, so I'll join. My level probably isn't gonna be that good, but...

Find me on here if you need me; also, it'd be nice to have a few SMWers on there ;)

"Yeah, I want your cutoff!"
"Oh baby, your bad palette is so tight!"

I haven't been there in a while. I am going to participate in this contest. I swear. I'm going to make a decent level that fits me.

As you know, I suck at SMW and more into Mega Man and 6502 NES assembly. Although these things are EXACTLY the same remodeling format.
Ah crap. If I join, I'll suck at it. Here's a mathematical explanation to this:

Code
Doesn't have skills of an artist + Can't insert custom music + can't insert custom sprites = FAIL

I might try, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.

Also school on Aug. 27th = D:

Nothing is stopping you from making a vanilla level if you really, really want to. Who knows - if your level design is solid gold, you may still do really well.

...of course, as previously stated, it would be pretty senseless to not use anything extra when you can use pretty much anything you want.

Considering how much I fail at inserting ExGFX, a vanilla level is essentially the only option. The only things custom about the level I'll make for this contest (because I do plan on entering) will be its music, maybe its palette, and of course, its layout.

Yes, you could say I like Osaka.
Question! This is just out of curiosity, though. Since everything is allowed, Kaizo hacks would be allowed right? Kaizo hacks can be fun and have good level design, and seeing as there are no rules, it should be ok, right?

I think I might try this.
