I have a question, though...how long does a phase have to be to qualify as "too long"?
Something like the level "Chaos CompleXX" from TSRPR would be about the max length I'd want, unless you're 100% sure your level will be fun for others to play. There is no "set" max length.
I never played that phase...

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 61/95 levels.

Make your level as long as you want.
But remember, tediously long levels may not be as fun as a well designed short level.
I don't think winning is important but doing this for activity purposes will clear my mind.
Short design polished levels will be my purpose.
i cant wait for the deadline! after im done writing, i will work on the rom hack!YOUR layout has been removed.
I do non-kaizo beta tests!

I do hope people use the plethora of resources at hand tastefully.
Oh well, I'm about 1/4 done making my rather neat level, so we'll see how things roll.I made a standalone game once, look for Seabug Stampede on Google Play.
Hmm... I actually have an idea of a level I might be able to do for this... I might join in after all.
The level name is "Journey from the Crossroads." Now my challenge will be renaming it so it fits in where the name of the level goes. >_>My Custom Super Mario World Levels
I think I'll enter, if I can get my level done by then.
I havent started out either. I have no idea what to make and what theme to use.
So I think I'll enter this. This'll be the first level contest I've entered. I haven't really made any hacks before (aside from a few levels), so this probably won't be too fancy. Don't really have too much experience when it comes to custom graphics, sprites, etc. Hopefully good level design will make up for that ;).
Got an idea for a level, but it seems so generic it's probably been done before. So I better do a good job with the design!
I'll start adding the newly submitted levels from the other thread into the list tomorrow, and I will continue to update it weekly until the deadline.
I'd still prefer if you guys used the file bin to upload your stuff. An external hosting site is fine, but it's more or less a pain when you can just dump a direct link to your file.
I am going to submit the final level of HR1 Remade into this contest... but it ain't finished yet.Your layout has been removed.
Important Question: If we have tested our levels beyond extent, submitted it, and then after playing through it afterwards, and finding glitches/errors, are we allowed to fix it and resubmit it before the deadline?waiting for SMWC2 to come out since 1995

If you are resubmitting a file, please make a new post AND edit your old post with the new link. That is perfectly fine if you want to do that before the deadline.
Question.
Are we allowed to make a 3 part level to avoid annoyingly long levels?
Because mine's going to be a 3 part level.
Bottom/Outside the Castle.
Inside the Castle.
Core.
i just lurk sometimes
It's a one-level contest. If it has to span over three overworld tiles, then that is technically not one level.
I'd suggest merging it into one level. As I said, if it's fun to play, longevity will be excused.
Is the difficulty of the level going to effect it's score?
Also, although I was planning on submitting only one level anyway, I actually found no place in the other topic that said that one was the limit. Perhaps that could make a good number 2?
