Here are some steps to getting all the Kremkoins.

1.Go to the first level.

2.Go into the cabin without grabbing the bananas.

3.Don't grab the balloon.

4.Come out of the cabin still avoiding the bananas.

5.Grab the bananas that are on the first barrels you see.

6.Return to the cabin still avoiding those 2 bananas.

7.Grab the balloon.

8.Repeat step 4,5&6 in that same order.

9.If you did it correctly there should be a kremkoin.

10.Grab it and you'll have all the kremkoins.

Yes this works on Virtual Console.
To be honest, when I heard of this I thought it was fake.

I think that DKC2 has no such cheat.

We might hack the cheat with an assembly patch. If DKC2 has a stz banana_coins, we might hijack that to become lda #99 then sta banana_coins. To do so, we must disassemble DKC2. I am not ready; I want to continue my disassembly of Mario Paint before I start with my copy of DKC2.

Actually there is. Just go into the level known as Rattle Battle. There should be a secret barrel to the left.

1 Go in the barrel.

2. Grab the to banana coins.

3. Now hop into the bonus game right beside them.

4. Play through the bonus game.

Now just keep doing that over and over again.
And when you have enough exit the level.

That trick is so old, I've known about it forever.

Whenever I play DKC2 (On my awesome SNES, not some crappy emulator) I always use it because I don't like playing Bonus Games.

I believe that cheat code was "monkey" on the cheat code page. I remember it for the GBA version I don't know if it was there in any of the other versions. Anyways that cheat code would give you all of the bonus coins, much easier than having to find them all.

Finding the Kremkoins was a pain so I probably never of finished DKC2 if it wasn't for the cheat.

Edit: By that I mean the Lost World.

Thanks for pointing these cheats out. If you hadn't pointed these cheats out I wouldn't have ever finished DKC2. Now if I can just find bonus coin cheat for DKC3.........

Ha, well, I'd have to agree that finding all of the bonus coins in Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 was a pain, but I got 102% in DKC2 and 103% in DKC3 without any cheats or even game guides. (Not that I knew at the time that there were any open to the public...) It was the first game that gave me trouble; I had to use GameFAQs to get 100% (or was it 101%?) on that one. How the heck was I supposed to know to check under the first few trees in Orang-utan Gang, huh?! It's not exactly easily accessible.... And unlike DKC2 and DKC3, DKC1 could have anywhere from 0 to 5 bonuses per stage, so you really you idea how many were still left. Yoshi's Island was another game that I managed to get 100% on without any cheats or anything.

Interesting cheat, though. I'd thought it didn't work until I realized that I'd forgotten step 7.

I got 105% in DKC3, but that's because I used an in-game cheat that disabled the midway barrels in every level. The rank is Immortal Monkey and after viewing your rank, the Cranky Kong trophy comes alive and does some fast karate moves.
