Express your fellings toward non japanese wanna-be anime

Personally I hate them. The U.S. shouldn't medal in Japanese affairs. For example Teenaged Mutant ninja Turtles.
Yay I finally got a layout! I feel like I am officially a member now, so this being the case, I don't know to much about chocolate hacks, but feel free to let me beta test any vanilla hacks.
What the hell is wrong with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? That cartoon alongside the movies was kick ass. But things like Teen Titans, and Astro Boy, yeah now those sucked.
Check out my profile for awesomeness!

Astro Boy isn't American. >_>

Anyways, I haven't really watched much American Anime, so I really don't have a say.
So basically, you're being racist in saying that Americans can't create something in the same style that the Japanese can? If the Japanese were to produce an American-styled cartoon, would that be a bad thing? Of course not. People should be free to create animation in whatever style they please.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teen Titans are both awesome, by the way. I never really got into it, but Avatar also seems decent.

Edit: Heheh, I'm probably gonna cause more arguments in this board than anyone else.
Edit2: Wait, it just occurred to me. How are the ninja turtles even CLOSE to being like anime?
Wannabes? Hardly!

I don't know why so many people never watched Cybersix. It's a classic.
And I'm also sure many people can't call this anime a wannabe either:

I think I should also add that the anime art style was never Japaneese in the first place. It was inspired by animation techniques used in things like the original Alice in Wonderland.

People can draw inspiration off of anything, and no one has any right to stop people from doing so.

Also, to those interested, the cartoony style I draw in was, at one point, originally inspired by some animes that I watched when I was younger.
If Japanese people were the only people who had the right to do stuff in a Japanese style, then basically this site wouldn't even exist, since us Non-Japanese people didn't have the right to hack Super Mario World. After all it's Japanese as well.

Basically what I'm saying is: It doesn't matter where something is originating from or what something is attempting to be as long as it's good. I mean: Did you know that many of the animations for famous Japanese Animes are actually procuded in Korea, not in Japan? And now that you know that, do you still think that Non-Japanese people should do Anime-related stuff?

I've also seen an American show that reminds me quite a lot of an Anime and is still pretty good, it's something most of you have probably seen. I'm talking about "Avatar - The Last Air Bender". Hell, that show is awesome and it has many Anime elements! Well I'm not even sure if you can all it an "Anime Wannabe", since I don't know what the attempts of taht show where. However, I clearly do not share the opinion of only Japanese people having the right to create Animes.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
It's ok, Nerdtopia Master. I went through a weeaboo stage once too in my life (Though it was moreso part of a depression...)
Just as long as you wake up in the end and realize that your illusion of perception makes you a hypocritical asshole ;o

As for the topic itself, even "true" wannabe anime isn't all too bad either.
A direct example is how us manga fans are so use to seeing honorfics in the english language due to how things translate in scanlations. To us, it is almost something natural to see words like Sempai and Sensei being used instead of continuously calling someone "senior".
Of course, this isn't for real life conversations. But for someone to try to capture that true Japanimation moment, it is necessary.

The problem I've always had with these kind of shows is that they don't pay attention to all the little quirks that anime has. It just tends to look too smooth compared to eastern fare. Of course, just because it's trying to imitate anime with varying levels of success doesn't mean it's not a good show, and my art style takes a lot of inspiration from various anime, so I can't hate these kind of cartoons.

(As an aside, I never realized the 2003 Ninja Turtles cartoon was supposed to be Americanime until I read this topic...)
Well although it sounded like I hate, and absolutly despise american anime, I don't at all. As a matter of fact I like the original TMNT anime, but what I was saying was that I don't like how they are trying to make it look and seem like it originated from japan when it didn't. But as for teen titans I opologize because it actualy was Japanese so it shouldnt even have been mentioned.

Teen Titans isn't Japanese, though.

Fun fact: there was a Ninja Turtles anime that we never got. It was exactly as weird and Japanified as you'd expect it to be.

Teen Titans was alright, I just wish they would have put some more thought into the name. Originally, it was made mainly to, believe it or not, show what happened to Robin after he stopped appearing in Batman movies\comics, but then changed into a full fledged show :P

All and all it was good, and I wouldn't say it's 100% anime... It's more like 50%-ish.
Follow me on Hermitscape for random bits of game design talk and pixel art, or even request something for me to draw.

It's more like 0%-ish since it wasn't made in Japan.
Vah'Neela's Mansion coming soon.
Kappa Mikey? Shuriken School?

Ring any bells anyone?..

I am pretty sure the teen titans the show is japanese, to reply to Midna. But if I am wrong could you show me some proff of that because even their theme song is japanese in some episodes.

It's an American show, as you can see, but the theme song was made by a Japanese band called Puffy. That's why they used both an English and Japanese one. If I recall correctly, they used the English version of the song for serious episodes, and the Japanese one for funny or silly ones.

That's because the people who sing the theme song are J-Pop artists Ami and Yumi (they also got their own cartoon, which was styled after anime but wasn't).
