Hack Name: Super Rtyuio World: Part 1
Author: rtyuio54321
Description: This is my first hack ever, and I really put a lot of work into it. I hope people enjoy playing it.

------Removal reasons :o----------------------

This hack definately has great potential, but there are a few things here and there that I just feel like poking with my moderating stick, mainly graphical errors and messed-up events.

Yoshi eats an invisible berry here. Kind of weird. Not a biggie, but an oddity.

The first level has this Wiggler Goal Sphere. Use ExGFX to fix it, since you don't seem to be using any Wigglers in this level.

The bones (and the background seaweed kind of) have a not-so-nice palette. Fix the colors on these.

I just find it weird that you can stand inside these. Not a removal reason, just pointing something out.

When I get to the castle from the "secret" road, and beat the castle, this path acts glitched, and I am stuck, forced to...

...partake in the spinning wheel of doom. Fix the path to prevent this from happening.

Another oddity is that you have invisible solid blocks here, which I assume are the Small-Mario blocks you mentioned. I think it is better to make them act like tile 25, and then cover the area; it'll look less bizarre.

I was able to enter that pipe you have in the middle. I'm not sure if it was intentional...

Just a suggestion, make the wooden blocks act like tile 25 so that Mario doesn't look like a fool walking into the wall.

Also, it would be nice to have ON-OFF animations for these star blocks, so you can tell whether you can pass through them or not. Just a suggestion.

Not sure if it was just me, but the level had a kinda-short time limit for a pipe maze/puzzle.

When I go through the normal path to that castle, I don't get stuck at this part. Strange.

Also, I forgot to include pics for the secret exit of the underwater bone maze. Essentially, it looked like a blatant edit of the Forest Secret Area. Also, the Red Switch palace is unenterable, which I assume is intentional.

All in all, a pretty good hack, and once these are fixed, it should be accepted. Good luck!

Hack Name: LETS GOTO SUPER MARIO WORLD (DEMO) Demo - 20.1 KB - 17 downloads.
Length: 3 levels
Author: vquinones11 - Submitted by: [email protected]
Description: lets go back to super mario world

Reasons
Overall, this hack needs a lot of work before it will be up to SMWCentral's standard of quality. Please take the time to read over the Tips Of The Day. You should play through some of the site's Featured Hacks to get an idea of what you should be aiming for. Last but not least, replay some of the classic Super Mario games to get inspiration for good level design.

There is a lot of cutoffness throughout this hack. I guess Cutoffnessman has been up to his old tricks!

*SNIPSNIPSNIP*

The main reason this hack is being rejected is because there are too many levels from the original game left over. You need to erase all of the original levels (or remove access to them) before finishing your demo.

This 3-Up Moon was way too easy to get.

What is with all of the Goal Gates in this level?

Also, what's up with this lower ledge here? It's kind of a cool feature, but I'm not sure what purpose it serves.

And why does it abruptly stop in a cutoff tile?

Hiding Fish-Stem Piranhas is not a solution. Just use the patches that will fix this issue. Also, I've never been a big fan of Piranhas coming out of bushes, but that is just me.

Not a reason for removal, but an edited OW would be nice.

Use CTRL+DEL to remove old SMW levels. (104, C5, C7, and 3 are exempt from this.)

3. No graphical glitches!
Errors such as garbled sprites/FGs/BGs, message box text screwing up layer 3 items, cutoff tiles, and general graphical ugliness are frowned upon. Also, don't forget about glitches such as sprite memory issues - the graphics of the sprite will 'disappear', but the sprite will still be there, and can unfairly hurt Mario.

4. Unless you intend to make your hack contain very long and very high quality levels, demos which are too short to provide any feedback on or be enjoyable will be subject to removal.

7a) Keep it fair, and keep the hack at a legitimate difficulty!
i.e. Avoid things like death after the goal, blind jumps, forced damage, excessive enemies, places where you can get permanently stuck, excessive 3-UP moons, etc.

9. Quality level design
Your hack has a much higher chance of being accepted if the level design is fun. Conversely, if the level design is found to be lacking then a little cutoffness may be enough to push the hack into deletion.

Length: 5 levels
Author: Guiga - Submitted by: Guiga
Description: A simple hack, without ExGFX, Music, Sprites and blocks, only modified levels, was saved on my computer, just had to change today dialogs, messaging and others.

Reasons
First off, let me apologize for the fact that it took so long for your hack to be moderated. It's pretty inexcusable, actually.

There were a few things keeping this from being accepted. Overall, the level design could use a bit of work too, though you're off to a good start. I would get some beta testers who can give you extensive advice as you work on your hack.

Your OW needs a bit of work. In the first world, the paths don't reveal correctly. The second world has no paths. After completing the demo, the player returns to the first world but is invisible.

This was a blind jump, and it was especially bad considering you have to catch the Skull Raft. I would lower this platform so that when you land on it you can see the lava and the raft floating by.

Cutoffness with these ceiling tiles. Caped Mario might be able to also fly into these areas.

The ground objects in this level are very linear and boxy. It kind of seems more like lazy design than anything unique. Add some slopes maybe. This isn't a reason for removal, but it's just not that great.

Okay...

This is an automatic level with fast scrolling cool idea. However, if I'm Super Mario and I take your advice to not push any buttons, I will die in these places because I am not ducking. You should redesign those portions.

The Note Blocks here have bad bounce graphics.

The end of demo level can only be escaped through suicide. Make the sides exit enabled.

Hack Name: Super Zero World - The dream quests (demo1,5) Demo - 335.2 KB - 78 downloads.
Length: 13 levels
Author: darkslayer0 - Submitted by: darkslayer0
Description: Here is my new demo 1.5 of my hack "Super Zero World" which has been refused the last time I submitted it.
I fixed some bugs, and the lanagage wall also, since the game is all in English. Please don't take care of the grammar, etc...

New features:
- New title screen
- New 'intro' map
- Some redesign of many levels

I hope you'll like it!

Reasons
First off, let me apologize that this took a while for us to moderate.

I had really mixed feelings about this hack. I thought it was really cool how creative it was, and that every level had a theme to it. I think it's a great idea for a hack overall, and that you're definitely off to a good start.

At the same time, though, I think the level design overall needs some work. There were a lot of areas that were repetitive or plain, and in levels where collection is a key, it makes it difficult to retrace your steps.

Another thing I found strange was how the early levels have SMB-style scrolling that makes you exit when you touch the left side of the screen.

Apart from those suggestions, there were just some things in general that are keeping this from being acceptable at this time. I think they could be fixed fairly easily, though.

Your dialogue could use a grammar editor. I would find someone to beta test your hack and correct all of the dialogue for you.

The Color Houses were all very repetitive in their level design. There were several areas that I just ran through because there was nothing there except a handful of enemies.

Your OW paths are corrupt. There are some possible fixes for this, one being to make sure you inserted your title demo ASM correctly.

Is the first OW supposed to be a free-roam area.

I got permanently stuck here. It was also irritating that so many of the passages here were only one block wide.

Remember that the bottom row of blocks in LM is not visible in-game.

If you don't get all 20 coins on your first try, the player is permanently stuck here and can't win the level. The only choice is death by time-out or suicide.

I was able to bypass the missing Switch Block bridge in this area using a cape.

However, once here, I could not continue forward. I could find now way to get on top of this pipe.

Not a reason for removal, but most hacks make these barrels behave like solid objects.

DENIED!

Not a removal reason, but you should nevertheless fix the grammar and spellings in all messages. Get a beta tester who is fluent in English.

While the Overworld has only a few errors (wrong palettes as well, but also some cutoffs) and basically looks okay, this submap, as seen on this picture, is horrible. Fix all the wrong palettes and use the right tiles.

This is the real reason why I burn this hack down. Nearly 80% of your levels are blatant edits. Press CTRL + DEL before making your levels!!!
Also, if I enter the pipe which is in the area of the above picture...

... this happens. Put Mario's exiting position one tile up, or decrease the pipe height by 1.

Blatant 105 edit.

The note blocks' animation is screwy here. Use the correct graphics. Also, this switch palace was annoying.

Obvious 102 edit...

... with water cutting into the pipe,...

... here, too...

... and here, the water cuts into the cement blocks, which again cut into the pipe.
Now, this I call a vicious circle.

This part was very hard for a, yes you guessed right, first castle,...

... which is another blatant level edit with bullets making no sound. Make bullets make sound by either using a generator, or making them shoot from bullet machines.

Exaggerated.

Yes! I run on an invisible ledge in order to get to the key, and I know exactly where the ledge ends, so I do not fall into various holes! In other words, do not use the lowest row in Lunar Magic because the player can't see it. Damn it.

The fact that most of your messages are unnecessary ("that was my first edited level ever", "this level was created by xyz", ..) is not a removal reason, obvious level edits are.

I had to do a blind jump from above here, which is annoying.
Also, I forgot to mention that you had several blind jumps in the first level left from Yoshi's House as well. Avoid them by using coins for instance, which lead the player his way.

You used the bottom row here as well, which you must not.

And I don't know what you put down there but I assume you placed a muncher on the bottom row, resulting in an unfair hit.

Blatant level A edit, plus this level was too hard for a second world level. Always try to start easy, then, as you progress, build harder levels on an ascending line.

Blatant level 9 edit, which I haven't played, because I stopped at this point.

And last but not least, there's a gameplay issue at the start of this level. If you are not fast enough, you'll miss this platform, because it starts moving right away. Fix this. I also assume that this is an obvious level 5 edit.

This hack was full of obvious level edits. Always press CTRL+Del (once again). Furhtermore, avoid graphical mistakes. This concerns mainly the Overworld. Also, try to not make gameplay mistakes, by testing the levels yourself several times and watch out for blind jumps.
And lastly, do not place unnecessary messages, which doesn't interest or are of no concern to the player. They decrease the quality of your hack. In order to avoid language mistakes, get a beta tester (which you should do anyhow so that others can test your hack as well) who is fluent in English.

(deep sigh)

Your title screen is, in two words, pug-ugly. Repetitive tiling + unreadable fonts = hack mod wondering out loud why you thought this was a good idea!

You sure could use a proofreader.

Your overworld just plain looks bad.

Lots of annoying and generally bad level design. In shot one, you have to jump around the corner box to continue, which is just plain unintuitive. In shot two is a boring spinjump-o-rama, and in shot 3 you MUST have kept the springboard from the start of the level with you, or a forced suicide is assured. Shot 4 is just a poorly designed level, as we will see!

Using the same tiles for the foreground as the background is surely a great idea! Well, actually, no it isn't.

Install the Fade Fix Patch.

Basically, this is just a palette hack to give everything the bright and oversaturated GBA port colors, plus some minor graphic edits. It doesn't expand small Mario's animation set (like SMA2 did - compare the walking animations of the two), it doesn't seem to add any of Luigi's special features (heck you can't switch between Mario and Luigi on the map), and it probably doesn't change all the enemies SMA2 changes when you pass the Special World.

Meh, I give you a B- for effort, at least. This is the kind of stuff you'd find in the GoodSNES set, but not on SMW Central.

Description: In Super Omelette World, Mario gets hungry and sets out to find eggs for an Omelette.

A hack I made a couple months ago, but just fixed the final bugs up now. This hack is completely vanilla.

Reasons

Not a bad hack actually. However, there are a couple of rather noticeable errors that can't quite let me accept this.

Yoshi's swallowing frames are glitched in Switch Palaces. Try giving them a "No Yoshi" intro.

Some areas are quite flat and boring. This doesn't happen too often, but spicing up these areas with a few more decorations, enemies etc. would be great.
Your levels also seem kind of boring and linear to me in general... They're not exactly bad though, and not at all bad enough for it to be a removal reason. Just thought I'd point that out.

The goal bar goes a little too high here.

It's not too easy to screw up P-switch puzzles like this one, but it would still be nice to have a way to reset the level just in case you do mess things up. The same goes for all puzzles where you need certain items to proceed. As I said, it's mostly hard to screw up, and not adding reset pipes/doors/whatever wouldn't be a reason for removal on its own, they just would be nice to have.

It's possible to literally go into this pipe - You can even fall down if you go down too far. Block the right side of the pipe so this doesn't happen.

I wasn't so sure if you need to have hit a switch before you could go on here (it's very possible that I've just overlooked an obvious alternate path), but if that is the case, you should inform the player beforehand and letting him leave the level without dying.

These Bullet Bills don't make any sound and appear rather surprisingly. Not too big of a deal, but see if you can find an alternative.

Garbage in the Back Door's intro. It would probably be best to just get rid of the intro here.

Once you get rid of most of these, I'll gladly accept this.

Author: Kimimaru - Submitted by: Kimimaru
Description: A hack designed in a similar manner to Nintendo's classic Super Mario World. Although there are no

patches or ExGFX implemented, the hack still has ample challenges to offer intermediate/experienced Super

Mario World players and is not recommended for beginners. I primarily made this hack to test how well I can

design levels off the top of my head, but I have finally completed the hack and decided to release it to the public.

This hack has a Special World that contains levels served strictly for TAS purposes and doesn't require the

Special World levels to be completed to obtain 100% (95 Exits) in the game.

This is an optimized version of Super Mario World 3, which fixes some more bugs. Please delete the other one on

the list, as it still contains some graphical errors.

Please apply this patch to a clean "Super Mario World (U) [!].smc" ROM to avoid any problems.

Most importantly, enjoy the hack!
------------------------------------------------
My Short Review
The hack was pretty fun, though there were some annoyances in the later levels and some errors that need fixing.
------------------------------------------------
Reasons:

Wrong water edge tile.

Yoshi Isle 1
-------------------------

These moles are supposed to go right on top of the ground not inside it. There are some other levels with moles in the wrong spots, fix this.

The cement blocks make cut-off to the pipe. Remember these cement blocks can make about everything cut-off.

Blind jump. Put coins to lead the way.

Yoshi Isle 2
------------------------

This is kinda considered a Kaizo trap because it's near the edge. Please put a coin below it and move it back more so the player won't fall and they know where it is.

Iggy's Castle
-------------------------

You might have the wrong sprite header here because there's barely any sprites here and lil sparky didn't appear at 1st.

Overworld
------------------------

These clouds are cut-off on the left. Also though it's not a removal reason the OW and submaps lacked in decoration, add some things so it doesen't look plain.

Eclair Plains
---------------------

Blindjump.

If I fall here, kill the enemies and/or don't have a cape I'm stuck. Fix this. Also that pipe is cut-off because of the cement blocks.

Green Switch Palace
------------------------------------------

I can get three easy lives here. The 1st live was the star I got in the beginning and the 10 enemies were easy to kill, then there's these two 1-Ups. Take these 2 out or make it harder to get.

Eclair Ghost House
-----------------------------------

It was really hard to find the right exit in this level since parts of the rooms looked the same. Change it up a bit so you can tell your in a different room. Use the clocks and make it so when your in a different room, then clock hands change.

Eclair Plains 2
----------------------------

You might have the wrong sprite header here too because there were barely any sprites on screen and the platform disappeared.

Eclair Secret House

Blantant level edit, now that I think of it there's a lot of places with blantant level edits that were kinda hard to find. Blatant level edits are not allowed!

Forest Of Mystery 1
-----------------------------------

Bad log palette.

Mystery Ghost Field
-----------------------------------

How come when I get to this area and go left there's absolutely nothing at all? I'm saying this because going left is kinda a long path but there seems to be nothing.

Forest Of Mystery 3
---------------------------------

Bad log palette again.

Mystery Fortress
-------------------------------

The green dots on the stone block above me has a pretty bad palette.

Blatant level design.

Vanilla Bridge 1
------------------------------

If I was small here I'm forced to die here because I can't break these, and it's an auto scrolling level so...

Vanilla Bridge 2
-------------------------------

Not a removal reason but take out that muncher so I don't get hurt.

What's up with all the silver P-switches? There's one in the block on my left, one I'm holding, and 2 on my right. Also take out those ? blocks so the player can get in the pipe easily if they're big.

Water is cut-off because of the pipe.

Vanilla Bridge 5
--------------------------------

If I don't bring the other platform with me I have to die. Not good.

Bowser Valley 1
-----------------------------

Blindjump. There were some other blindjumps in this level but I didn't take screenshots because it'll be easy to tell which areas have blindjumps. Fix these.

There are areas with fake warp pipes/doors. Fake warp pipes/doors are not cool, take them out.

If you don't have a cape your screwed. Put a cape somewhere around here so the player can pass.

Bowser Valley 2
------------------------------

If your not big your stuck here.

The mud makes the ground cut-off.

Glitched Yoshi tongue, put a No Yoshi allowed intro.

Bowser Ghost House
------------------------------------

Like I said fake warp pipes/doors are not cool.

I couldn't even beat the ghost house, it seems impossible. That's when you know you really need to fix this.

Larry's Castle
---------------------------

Oh no the thwomp fell and now it won't respond so I have to kill myself. This is not good, put a reset pipe/door and make this jump easier.

This was annoying. Pretty self-explanatory.

You might have the wrong sprite header because there was barely any sprites on screen and the thwimp was missing tiles.

I couldn't even pass this level either. I stopped here since I can't go anywhere else.
---------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
This hack was fun at 1st, but the later levels got annoying and were hard to find some of the exits. It should be easy to fix these errors.

Hack Name: The Devious Four Mythos #4: Hunter's Revenge Recharged v2.3 - 1.5 MB - 121 downloads.
Length: 50 levels
Author: metalgearhunter - Submitted by: metalgearhunter
Description: The Devious Four Mythos: Hack #4:

Hunter's Revenge Recharged

There are 2 versions of the Recharged Version inside, and the ORIGINAL game (The first one as a bonus): 1st recharged

version with the original title screen, and 1 with the new title screen. I have also included the ORIGINAL Hunter's Revenge

IPS to see how much more better the recharged is, but the original displays kind of a new game play to it.

WARNING: May not work with Snes9x

Hack Description:

After 1 year from recovering from the first alien attack on the Mushroom Kingdom, things start to change. Life as Mario and

Peach knew it, was changing, as well as the land. What could be causing this? Mario needs to find out. He sets out on an

epic adventure to find out who or what is causing this. Well, he finds out all right, it is Hunter, and he is back for

revenge! Mario must now defeat and kill Hunter to save the Mushroom Kingdom, but then he figures beating him is not the key.

There are 3 castle stationed around the Mushroom Kingdom that need to be destroyed: 1 on a plain, 1 in a mutated forest, and

another in space. Once these 3 castles are destroyed, can Mario access the soul of the plan. Help Mario as he defeats this

cataclaysmic being and saves the earth from a horrible disaster. Should he fail, he will fall at Hunter's hands, with the

world along side him.

THIS VERSION---

Well, after yet another removal of my game, I decided to beta test once again myself. Yet, I have found bugs and they just

keep coming back. Yet, I fixed most of them. Some bugs (such as message box messages) can't be fixed without making 4 more

bugs.

Best with ZSNES

A bug of which I have no idea of, is on the level "Hunter's Castle 3???", there is a locked door, which for some unexplained

reason, would not open for the mod of this hack and resulted in it's ultimate rejection. Now, I have no idea how this has

happened, for everytime I played, I passed the door, EVERY time. So... I made a special entrance that requires the fire

flower in the first room that will take you to the required level, only if you collect the 5 yoshi coins.

There should now be no game breaking bugs.

Please have fun and Enjoy it

Feel free to Let's Play this hack, but let me know that may I may enjoy them too. Please though.

Message to MODS: Please, do not count the ORIGINAL game IPS, it is just there as a bonus to see how much the game has been modified.
ORIGINAL HR1
-------------------------------------
My Short Review:
The hack was fun and well designed though there was a big error that got this removed. (And a few small errors though they were minor)

Yellow Switch Dome
------------------------

Getting past here was kinda annoying simply because I had no space to run and duck. (Unless I was supposed to be small)

Somewhat empty message box (unless it was intentional) and the background color isn't matching.

Not a removal reason but make the yellow switch get destroyed.

Chuck's Ahoy
---------------------------

If I activate the yellow switch and fall here, I'm stuck.

Ledge Leaper
-----------------------------

I can get in here if I crouch run here. It's easy to fix though.

Blindjump. Put coins to lead the way. Somehow I forgot to write the level name, I think it's Hunter's Castle 1?

Into the forest
-----------------------------

In the 2nd area of this level, if I fall here I'm stuck.

Infested Forest
----------------------------

The rope is cut-off a bit because it's on right on the corner.

Treehouses
------------------------

Bad noteblock palette.

Don't use the the bottom row of Lunar Magic as it will not appear ingame.

Underdugin Castle
----------------------------------

When I get the midway in this level and die, when I go inside this pipe I die instead of getting teleported, fix this.

Bad inner border palette.

Up Into Space
---------------------------

Part of the alien thing out of shell frame is a koopa and the squished frame is a koopa.

Add some solid ledges because it is kinda looks as if you can stand on them but you can't which makes you fall in a pit of munchers.

On-Off Space Valley
--------------------------------------

The 3-Up is rather easy to get because I can glitch through these blocks to get it. I'm not sure if this was the way to get it but still.

Blindjumps.

I'm forced to get hit here to advance. Not good if your small Mario.

Green Switch Dome
---------------------------------

Not a removal reason but right when I enter this level, the koopa can fall right at start.

Also not a removal reason but I had to savestate to get here successfully.

Bad inner border palette. Also why is there a red switch over there?

Hunter's Space Dome
------------------------------------

Blindjump.

Not a removal reason but the lil sparky there in the bottom right dies fast.

That 3-Up moon is really easy to get. All I have to do to is wait for the platform to go back and that's it. Make it harder and rarer to get.

Pretty big blindjump here.

There seems to be some glitched score graphics. I don't know what's causing this as it happened to me to so I thought I'll just show you.

Space Travel
---------------------------

Blindjumps. -.-

When I get the midway and die a random flying koopa with glitched graphics appears.

You should block going up here because I can get in here but if I lose my P balloon I'm stuck.

It's really easy to get the 3-Up moon here.

New Grounds
-----------------------------

Blind jumps.

Space Castle
----------------------------

Put a reset pipe or door somewhere because you can lose your shell easily because of the thwimps.

Saw Road
-----------------------

I can do that one glitch in this level where you are climbing on this rope and if you hit a solid edge and stay there you can climb in mid-air. Might wanna take these out since I can break the level pretty good.

Football Tryouts
----------------------------

Move the lava one tile up.

Pretty self-explanatory.

Bad bullet bill cannon palette.

A Bat's Cave
----------------------------

Not a real removal reason but part of the koopa out of shell frame looks weird on the 2nd frame.

Lava Cave
-----------------------

This jump was kinda hard to make. Move the pipe down 1 or 2 tiles.

When I get the midway point and I die, I spawn right here and I can get killed before I know it. Either take out the thwomp or change the settings.

Hunter's Forest
------------------------------

If I don't have a cape or the red switch activated I have to die. In the 1st screen, add coins here too so the player can get to the other side. In the other screen, the branch is a bit cut-off because it's on the corner of the ledge. Also I couldn't get to the red switch in this hack.

I have to get hit here, not good. If I was small I had to die. If your trying to make it so the player is small just use a block or sprite.

Bad goal post palette.

Hunter's Forest 3
-----------------------------

The pipes intersecting creates cut-off.

Again with having to get hit, just add a block that takes away your powers instead of getting hit because if your small you have to die.

Message box border thing isn't matching with the outer border.

This is the main reason it got removed. I'm not sure what happened but all of a sudden this happened when I was riding the YI arrow thing in the one area with 2 of the ptooies (2nd screen) in the higher platform and the guy on my right it randomly did this. I can rewind and it'll be fixed but still you should look into this. This doesen't happen every time as I tried it a few times.

Too many sprites onscreen made the plant thing miss some tiles.

Why does part of that pipe have that one plants head?

The pipe here and the other side has glitched graphics. (Also I disabled the status bar so you can see it don't worry about it not being there)

I couldn't go anywhere else after this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion:
This hack was fun overall but there were a lot of minor errors which are easy to fix. (Mostly blind jumps though I didn't point out all of them) Make sure to look over that one big error I pointed out as that's they main reason this got removed. Once those are fixed re-submit and this will surely be accepted!
