Who Created SMWC?

I wonder who created it? At first I thought it was S.N.N., but he said he joined after it was made. Maybe its Techokami, but he hasn't been on the site for years. Any ideas?

I'm a bit rusty on my SMWCentral history, so forgive me if some of this is wrong.

Kieran (you might know him as boom.dk) created the website back in 20075. He's the guy that makes everything appear on the website, from the forums to the users, since he coded this whole website. In other words, with a crapload of knowledge about HTML, PHP and whatnot, he combined various types of it to create a website. Along with Smallhacker and Pac, who are close friends with Kieran, they basically pitched in ideas and eventually created what you're looking at right now. They might have even coded some of the website themselves, but I'm not sure if they have any HTML knowledge.

SNN joined shortly after the creation of the website, slowly climbing up the ranks until he secured a job as an administrator. He usually takes care of events, some special forums and basically the control of the website, while Kieran continues to do whatever he does, which at the moment is coding Kuribo's Shoe (which will soon be the replacement for this website). I'm not too sure about Techokami though, even I don't know what he/she does.

@v: I told you I was rusty.
I thought he created it at 2005. It says it above legal information.
What Blumiere said is mostly correct, yes. The three of them originally posted at Acmlm's Board (good times), and then made this. As for me, I followed the progress of the site being built, and lurked here for a year and a half before joining in June 2007.
You people are filled with incorrect information.

Before SMW Central and before Pac was a Smallhacker who had just told a Boom.dk of a website called Acmlm's Board. After loads of good times at said website, the Smallhacker got a promotion which put him in charge of the SMW Hacking forum. Eventually, the Smallhacker became tired of newbies who asked the same questions over and over again. The F.A.Q. thread at Acmlm's Board's SMW Hacking forum was getting hard to manage, so the Smallhacker turned to the Boom.dk to inquire about the creation of a seperate website for it. Born was the F.A.Q. editor (or the File Manager, as I called it) and a simple website with questions and answers. Time passed. The Boom.dk had been going to different SMW hacking related websites and had seen various ROM addresses scattered across them. He wondered why noone ever created a sortable collection of all these addresses. And so, he turned to the Smallhacker to hear if this was a good idea. It was then that the idea of SMW Central first popped up. I am sure that if you do a bit of digging here, you will find the chat logs concerning this event. It was decided that I would do the coding and Smallhacker would manage the content, since that would make the best use of our individual skills.

So, long story short, I made the website in terms of coding and so forth. I am very sure, however, that if Smallhacker had not been involved, both due to his moderator status at Acmlm's, his hard work to put content on the site, and his knowledge of SMW hacking, SMW Central would not have been what it is today.

I should add, for the people who don't know, that I used to be known as Boom.dk, but my user name at Acmlm's for the first half year or so was actually Kieran. I registered as Boom.dk but had it changed to Kieran shortly after.
I happen to have the chat logs (if you mean these ones). Might as well post them.

"NOVEMBER 20, 2005

CHAPTER ONE: THE IDEA

[16:31:39] Boom.dk: dude
[16:31:52] Boom.dk: i want to make a searchable, sortable database
with all the smw offsets
[16:32:13] Smallhacker: You know what I'd like to do?
[16:32:17] Boom.dk: no
[16:32:26] Smallhacker: A SMW hacking portal.
[16:32:33] Boom.dk: then do
[16:33:17] Smallhacker: I'd like to do a site with FAQs, tutorials,
programs, links, IPSes, tons of data
[16:33:25] Smallhacker: for SMW, that is
[16:33:27] Boom.dk: i would like that too
[16:33:33] Boom.dk: i would love it
[16:34:05] Boom.dk: even tho i know nothing about smwhacking i support
it with everything i got
[16:34:17] Smallhacker: Hmm
[16:34:46] Smallhacker: Your HTML/CSS/PHP skillzorz and my hax0ring
skillzorz...
[16:35:00] Boom.dk: indeed :)
[16:35:06] Smallhacker: Deal?
[16:35:11] Boom.dk: DEAL!!!!

CHAPTER TWO: AWESOME FEATURE THAT WAS NEVER MADE

[16:37:20] Smallhacker: I've got an idea
[16:37:29] Smallhacker: It might be slightly illegal, though
[16:37:37] Smallhacker: <_<
[16:37:54] Boom.dk: tells me
[16:38:42] Smallhacker: The database would (among other stuff) contain
data address and data size, right?
[16:39:05] Boom.dk: perhaps?
[16:39:14] Smallhacker: So... What if we upload a ROM to the site...
[16:39:32] Smallhacker: And the PHP script reads the address and size
from the database
[16:39:49] Smallhacker: and pastes the original byte(s) into the
database view...
[16:40:02] Smallhacker: which it reads from the ROM
[16:40:21] Boom.dk: that would only need to be done once right?
[16:40:53] Smallhacker: Well, I guess
[16:41:08] Boom.dk: not sure if its a good idea
[16:41:13] Smallhacker: me neither
[16:41:14] Smallhacker: BUT
[16:41:53] Smallhacker: It could be used for awesome features
[16:42:02] Smallhacker: Example:
[16:42:06] Boom.dk: but i guess i could do that for the smw hacking
community
[16:43:56] Boom.dk: you type in an offset
[16:44:03] Boom.dk: and then it pops up with the value
[16:44:04] Boom.dk: wee
[16:44:06] Boom.dk: :P
[16:45:40] Smallhacker: XXXXXX - 45748372985934 - Text shown when
saving
If you click on the description, a window would pop up
containing a picture created with a PHP script. The PHP
script reads from the ROM and graphics files and draws the
text as it would look like in the game
[16:46:01] Smallhacker: Or stuff like that
[16:46:10] Smallhacker: Map data
[16:46:12] Smallhacker: Draws a map
[16:46:19] Boom.dk: ooooo
[16:46:24] Smallhacker: Sprite tilemap
[16:46:29] Smallhacker: draws the tilemap
[16:46:35] Smallhacker: etc
[16:46:41] Boom.dk: then we would have to make a script that converts
smw images and palettes to real images
[16:46:43] Boom.dk: ...
[16:46:43] Smallhacker: probably too advanced, though
[16:46:46] Boom.dk: i'm on!
[16:46:48] Boom.dk: :D

CHAPTER THREE: THE PLAN

[19:24:23] Boom.dk: hi
[19:24:26] Smallhacker: hey
[19:25:57] Smallhacker: soo
[19:27:47] Smallhacker: well...
[19:28:03] Boom.dk: yes
[19:28:05] Boom.dk: lets go
[19:28:16] Smallhacker: Where to start?
[19:28:44] Boom.dk: a plan
[19:28:54] Boom.dk: which things are we going to cover
[19:29:06] Smallhacker: Everything relevant
[19:29:10] Boom.dk: what will the website be able to do
[19:29:15] Boom.dk: stuff like that
[19:29:33] Smallhacker: Okay
[19:29:40] Smallhacker: Stuff on the site:
[19:29:45] Smallhacker: ROM Map
[19:29:49] Smallhacker: RAM Map?
[19:29:54] Smallhacker: FAQ
[19:29:56] Smallhacker: Tutorials
[19:30:08] Smallhacker: List of hacks
[19:30:15] Smallhacker: Useful IPS patches
[19:30:23] Smallhacker: SMW Hacking tools
[19:30:28] Smallhacker: Links
[19:30:38] Smallhacker: ...custom blocks?
[19:30:47] Smallhacker: ......custom sprites????
[19:31:27] Smallhacker: Misc. text files
[19:31:54] Smallhacker: Anything else?
[19:34:13] Boom.dk: back
[19:35:17] Smallhacker: Do we need anything else?
[19:35:41] Boom.dk: dont tinks so
[19:35:44] Boom.dk: offset db
[19:35:52] Smallhacker: That's the ROM map

CHAPTER FOUR: THE NAME

[19:36:11] Smallhacker: Now...
[19:36:14] Smallhacker: It needs a name
[19:36:23] Smallhacker: The Hick Hacker's Guide to the SMW?
[19:36:30] Boom.dk: lol
[19:37:03] Boom.dk: nah
[19:39:55] Smallhacker: SMW-opolis?
[19:40:13] Smallhacker: "SMW Hax0rz"
[19:40:23] Boom.dk: SMW Hacking Portal
[19:40:27] Boom.dk: lol
[19:40:36] Smallhacker: SMW Central
[19:40:42] Boom.dk: yea

THE SITE BANNER AND SOME OF THE SITE DESIGN WAS MADE DURING THE NIGHT BETWEEN NOVEMBER 26 AND 27.

THE EXISTENCE OF THE SITE WAS ANNOUNCED ON ACMLM'S BOARD ON JANUARY THE FIRST, 2006."

Ah yes. It was a busy December. :P
So what role does Techokami have in SMW Central?

World Community Grid: Thread | Team

Techokami is just an administrator who came along at some point. Nothing else to it. Coby used to manage our ExGFX section.
He never goes on the site anymore.. You could unpromote him.

This name is hilarious. I wouldn't have minded it being the real one actually.
