General Mario Games Thread

@Lio: Well, world 4 is only the 4/9 (or even less) of the game, so... You should be in the "medium" difficulty levels. That works for the difficulty. It's not because people are saying this game is real hard that it has to be hard since the very beginning...
Our world will stop advancing once humans manage to create sufficient magnificence for a whole lifetime. Until then, I just create.
Awesome video game music on my youtube channel
The game got leaked before release. I'm playing World 2 right now on my hacked Wii. (Just started)
Boy can't wait for it! Gonna see if I can get it, looks really fun than the last one.
Hoping that one of Bowser Jr.'s Side Bosses will be similar to Bowser's boss in SMW. Hopes that It will be even more hardcore.

They look like chipmunk bills =P

idk but this game might have a great songlist.
EDIT: Or it might have the same songlist from NSMB.

I downloaded the game, and am playing it right now. I'm already up to world 4. The game is pretty good so far, lot's of cool levels, and pretty decent music. IMO, the game is hyped up way to much, it's good so far, but it isn't great. To me, it's way to easy most of the time; and the bosses are even easier, No challenge what so ever:/ It's too easy to get one 1-ups as well, by the time I finished World: 1-6 I had 34 lives.

more blah

aparantly, i read it gets harder after world 4 ;)
Got myself an early release via the dumped Australian version. Play this game with others. The difficulty will skyrocket and so will the fun factor. I've been playing with 2 others and we're in the middle of world 2. So much fun~
Where can I download New Super Mario Bros. Wii?
Well its easy as hell so far. During level 4 I acquired 27 lives. The ice flowers a bitch, the stupid snow balls bounce so high they hardly hit anything. I hope you guys are right about it getting harder though. Pretty sweet game so far though.
Check out my profile for awesomeness!
That's not the kind of question you want to ask here. Google, on the other hand...
I preordered it, but I didn't have enough money. Now that I have money, I'll buy it today, since it won't be released till Sunday.
ign Australia gave it a 9.2

ign America gave it an 8.9. Here's the ign American video review.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Aq_gAPchRoM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Aq_gAPchRoM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Now I can see how this game is 8.9 because of the lack of some really cool features but I wish ign could have gave us a review on the basis of the actual game itself, like levels, gameplay, ect.

If Shigeru Miyamoto dies... then I think I will go frigging insane

I have the complete songlist for this game on my computer now, and yes it does reuse some of NSMB's music, though it sounds a little different. Other than that, it has a whole heap of new tracks, that will definitely differentiate it from the first one in terms of music. As far as I know the only reused songs are the "Walking the Plains" (Grassland levels) and the "Mushroom Waltz" (Athletic/sky levels).

You downloaded the soundtrack? I thought you didn't want to get spoiled :]
I played the game for 4 hours with Mue yesterday.

I'd have to say the game is one of the most entertaining and fun things I've played on the Wii in a long time.

I mean, we only got up to World 3-4 and we were already struggling, but damn the game was fun. It's a real bore when you're by yourself, so like FP said, play the game with as many people as you can. Even two people adds to the entertainment factor of the game. We were getting angry at eachother by World 3's first castle because we couldn't carry the POW switch without getting hit so we can get the level's coin ... then we started throwing each other off the turning blocks near the top of the level.

I wish I had the game with me right now. :(

Heck, I wish the game had Wi-Fi. But Shigeru claims that the game itself, without WiFi, takes up the Wii's processes so there'd be no way you could play with friends. The game is a mountain of fun, the fact it's offline multiplayer just sucks.
I don't see how the game would be a bore in single-player. After all, that's pretty much the only way you could play the original Mario games. Sure there was that alternating two-player mode, but that just meant missing out on half the levels.

Anyway, I'm really excited for the US release. I'm just a little upset that our local Wal-Mart won't be getting the game for about another week, even though they should already have it in stock. I guess I'll just try some other places.

A friend had this to say on the subject:

"You can't spell ignorance with IGN."
I'm getting it today. Hooray! :D

Oh, and I think it should say:

"you can't spell ignorance withOUT IGN."

EDIT: *level UP!*
I cant get it 'till next week, when my parents have money. *Sigh*
