This has been going on for a while, will there ever be a playable demo?

If not when is this supposed to be done?

Since this is not organized like a traditional hack where levels are done in their natural progression, there's no way to release a demo since some early levels may not be finished. So we're not going to release any demos for the hack. When the final rom is compiled and checked over, then we will release it.

Not to mention it seems we have a fair number of bugfixes to take care of.
If you really want to, i suppose i could send you one of the levels, but then you have to insert exgfx and such yourself.

My main concerns about the assembly of the final rom are the secondary entrances. Many secondary entrances are present in levels but past the level end, since they aren't removed via CTRL DELETE. It may move secondary entrances others are using.

As an example, say I made level 150, and I used secondary exit 56. If someone made a level after using CTRL DELETE, they may not realize the exit is present from the original level they deleted, and it will be moved when inserted...

I honestly wish i could have been a part of this hack, because so far the little ROMs for download in the stickies are just so cool looking its like a tease, but anyways secondary exits are gonna be a real pain for you guys

Keep an eye out for level sign-ups. People sometimes abandon their levels and leave them open for others to claim.

That sucks that there won't be a playable demo, but maybe you could make a teaser thread of screenshots of parts that ARE done? Just a suggestion.

Yeah, there is plenty to see in the screenshots thread. Most people are keeping their levels a secret though (for good reasons too; no sense in spoiling some surprises).

First of all, welcome to Super Mario World Central!

Due to the way this hack is organized, I would say that the best time to beta test would actually be after all of the levels are submitted and the full version is on the brink of being made publicly available. I'm very hopeful that everyone that has or will be submitting levels has thoroughly tested what he has created before sending the levels to the overseer(s), so testing of the full version will be minimalized and encompass more technical aspects such as custom sprites and various assembly-based shenanigans.
