Tip: Remaking levels from other Mario games is strongly discouraged, especially popular ones (World 1-1 from SMB or SMB3, for example), as their over-presence in Mario games, official or not, often makes them uninteresting to play.

I figured since this forum exists, this thread should exist.

---------------------------

First of all, if you are unaware as to what this anime is, hit your nearest video store and buy the DVDs. This is quite possibly my favorite anime. It was first a Manga that was transformed into a TV series that aired for a brief period in 2002 in Japan. Though the show only lasted longer than a month, it made a strong impact on japanese television culture and many regard it to be one of the best animes of all time, me included.

---------------------------

The story is about a group of girls who live in a japanese high school with their 10 year old classmate Chiyo-chan, the main character.

---------------------------

There are also several other girls who parade around with Chiyo. First I feel the need to mention Tomo Takino. A spunky, hip, go to girl who always strives to be on top, even though most of the time she can not accomplish such a feat. Next is Sakaki, or Ms. Sakaki if you watch the english dub. She is a tall, shy, very athletic girl with an obsession for cats. Too bad that she can't own one. next is Kagura, she is met later in the series and is basically a mix of Sakaki and Tomo. Nothing much else to say. Then there's Yomi. She mostly hangs out with Tomo and shows a strong dislike for her competitive life style. Also she has glasses, woo. And last, but certainly not least is Osaka. Originally an exchange student from Osaka whose real name is Ayumu Kasuga, she quickly gets the nickname Osaka because of her strong traits relating to that town. In the english dub she is given a Texas/southern accent to make her Japanese stereotypes fit the suit of English ones. She is also pretty slow when it comes to school and sports. Which is demonstrated in just about every episode.

---------------------------

There are also several supporting characters such as the teachers Yukari, Nyamo, and Kimura. (pedophile) But I won't get into to their roles.

---------------------------

This show also has a great intro, fit to the japanese song "Soramimi Keiki." Which means fancy cake. Just Watch!

---------------------------

Now, feel free to talk about anything at all relating to this Anime, or it's manga in this thread. Favorite episode, story arch, character. Differences between the manga and the Cartoon. English and Japanese dub relation. I personally thought the English dub wasn't half bad. Though there were some americanized translations like "Mori the previous prime minister," became "Bill Clinton" in the English dub. Any discussion topic at all. Also, there's plenty I left out about the show. I just wanted to give a general idea to anyone who hasn't seen it.

No trolling please.

--------------------
Yeah, Azumanga Daioh. Probably one of the funniest Animes I've ever seen. It does not have much of a story, but it's so hilarious that that doesn't matter at all. I mean it probably has the most original characters I've ever seen and in more then just one way. On top of that many of the characters are really cute. I recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a "non-challenging", but really funny Anime.

Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
(It's about time this topic showed up... though I kind of question the listing of Chiyo as "the" main character, since most of the screentime is divided between her and the other girls, though Sakaki tends to get more screentime, and deservedly so because of how shy she is.)

AzuDai is probably one of my favorite anime/manga, because of how adorable it is and because of how relatable the characters are... In case you couldn't tell from my avatar, layout, and signature, my favorite character in the series (and in anime period) is Osaka/Ayumu, and I actually harbor a whole lot of perverse sexual lust for her, because of how cute she is and because she's so easy to relate to - we're both dark-haired school-aged teenagers in the southern part of our country who are kind of clumsy, space out a lot, and have an unusual way of thinking.

(...OK, so I have a bit of a thing for Tomo as well...)

Yes, you could say I like Osaka.
Oh my God. I was WONDERING FOREVER where that girl in your layout came from (I've seen her PLENTY of places in various forums; she's got a huge fan following :D). Azumanga Daioh, eh? The moar you know~!

Also, that article in your post had me dying of laughter I am not even joking. XDDD

So what, is this any better than Lucky Star? I'll have to give it a look at some point. ^^ Great thread, this. I owe you.

It's me!!

High on life is the best high.
It's really a matter of personal opinion whether or not it's better than Lucky Star, but the two are often compared to each other. They're both adorable, but really they're each in a league of their own and were designed to appeal to two different audiences (AzuDai to high school-aged boys, Lucky Star to otaku).
