OOOHHH MYYYY GOOOOD

My hack has been ruined by Selin's New Powerup Patch. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Ive worked on that way before I registered here. Soooo. I'm canceling my hack. It's going to the garbage. Unless someone can supply me with a tool which removes ALL IPS. But anyways my hack got destroyed by Selin's patch. Anyway I'm not submiting it so Imma work on my upcoming hack demo. "Shy Guy's Virtual Realitiy Quest"
And sorry if this was a really long post which really proably wasted your time.
can you still open it in LM at all? if so it can still be saved from destruction.

In other news, why am I here.

This is why you ALWAYS make a copy of your hack before you put anything in it. (Like 1 tip says.)
YOUR layout has been removed.

I do non-kaizo beta tests!

OH MY GOD why didn't you have a backup when applying patches? Next time, keep in mind that you should have a backup at all times when applying patches, changing hex values, or even doing relatively simple things as inserting custom graphics. And as for the IPS removing tool, I'm not sure if there is one. I'm pretty sure that you can just remove it if it only took up a freespace, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: God, I'm late as always.
Yes I can still open it in Lunar Magic. The patch reverted all the levels as if they were unedited and f***ed up the background.
it reverted the levels? i never heard of any patch fully revertig the levels. The file size has to be huge if it does that.

It's an ips patch super stupid mario,(no offense)It replaces everything with what selin had when he made the patch, even level layouts.Use xkas next time.

ok i thought it was an Xkas yeah ips's make sense to do that.

Just a suggestion, but maybe Lunar Magic was fuddling up the Rom with its Auto-IPS-patching feature? (It'll try to Auto-Patch your already-patched Rom if the IPS is in the same folder and named properly, I think it goes.) Throwing it out here 'cause the description of your corruptzor'd Rom is extremely akin to problems people have had with the auto-patcher.

In any case... yeah, not backing up = failboat. I made that mistake one time ages ago, making a MegaMan 3 NES hack; I had about 75% of the hack done, only kept one IPS as a backup the whole time (kept overwriting the old backup), my Rom got corrupted, my (only) IPS was taken after the corruption, so my whole hack was dead.

Considering how Nintendo made Roms without intending for us to decode and hack them, making the process unstable at best (though it doesn't LOOK like it with SMW, it really is), it's all the more reason to be more cautious than usual. You're learning! :)

Tip: Make a backup

Also you should try testing patches on a clean rom before you ever let it touch your hack.

Oh no! I actually thought of making an auto-backup program, but never had enough time.

Sounds like a good idea now.

Give Mario some love?~

Oh right. Maybe they fixed this by now, but Back In The Day there were a number of patches in the database that only served to corrupt the Rom and didn't work at all. x_x

(Here's one trick that always works: hold down A, B, and the Down Arrow while making an IPS patch, to reduce the chance of the IPS becoming corrupted when you make it. IT WORKS, HONEST. *headshot* XPP)

Side note: Most (if not all) of your level data should be intact. What the IPS changed was the level pointers back to the original level data.

Further side note: Restoring the pointers manually will probably take more time than remaking the levels from scratch.
GOOOOOOOD NEEWS

Guess what?
In my xkas tool folder, guess what I found. Yep a backup of my hack.
I forgot I made a backup and put it in the xkas tool folder. This means I can get started on it. After I finish my other 2 hacks.
