At long last, the discovery of water on the moon! A major milestone indeed! I am absolutely astounded!

I heard about this 2 weeks ago. It is a very fascinating discovery.
I think you heard of what India did, while this is just discovered today (or at least press released today.)
Man, I saw it and read the articles. That's just awesome. Best case scenario, it will make moon bases sustainable; worst case, it's a fascinating piece of triva. At least, here's to the moon for being the first discovered planet instance of water. (outside the planet.)

IIRC, one of Jupiter's moons (...Titan maybe?) has water/ice.

I saw something on ABC World News tonight about how NASA smashed a shuttle into the surface at 3500 MPH, and apparently they got out 24 gallons (much more than OP said). And that's only in a crater the size of a large shopping mall. Looks like it could be incredibly rich in groundwater :)

So I guess if we could get enough canned food and stuff together people could live there. I know I would if I got a chance :<

EDIT: Level up. Woohooper!

don't you know? there's water on mars... :\

well anyways hopefully this discovery might lead to colonization of the moon or something... no, scratch that. this discovery might lead to something...

Haha, that is actually possible =o
Where there is water, there can be life. =D
Though, it'd be no more then single-celled organisms ^-^

That'd be Europa, I think. (Not sure if it's called 'Europa' in English too, but I think so.) It's in ice form, though, but I believe they once stated that there was a possibility that there existed water under the ice layer.
And yeah, Mars has water too.

On-topic: I read about this. Interesting story, this will definitely make it a lot easier for future long-term moon trips, if they will ever come to appear. (I personally think they will eventually, though.)

This is very interesting, indeed.

I loled.
Anyways, you never know, maybe there are single celled organisms we don't know about that can survive off the lack of oxygen. Who knows?
At the rate they are going, we may find out.

Normally, I would say "Microorganisms? Bah, they would've found them by now!", but they didn't find water before, so I can't really say that

Well, we already have brainless organisms here at the SMWC. *shot*
Anyway, this is a real good advancement.

Wow, this is a great discovery. NASA was beaten to the punch for water on mars though:

The water was most likely not found literally on the surface; it was probably dug from some of the rock.
One, the moon has a decent amount of gravity, and two, yes, it was in the ground, frozen.
I first saw this on google when the google sign said "They found water on the moon!"
